I haven't found much info on embedded pillars and wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for making them? I'm assuming it's made pretty similar to hurricanes w/ mold and insert. I have both square and round pillar molds but none that will fit inside of one another and checking to see if anyone has come up with other creative ideas (other than a hurricane mold w/ insert) for an insert to both 3" squares and rounds? The pillars are for my own personal use and my thoughts where to wick them to the size of the insert so the embedded shell is formed. TIA for your help :~)! - Angela
Great thread. I'm also considering going from business to hobby including friends/family/gifts. After the Christmas/holiday season I had sever burn-out and even slacked on filling orders in a timely manner after the holidays which is really unlike me in general. I'm working on spring/summer scents but can't say I'm overly excited about it. I also run another biz that is very profitable for me and is making me more money than I think candles could ever do. So I'm at a crossroads of what to do but leaning heavily towards the other biz and putting my focus there and just enjoying making candles hobby wise. I hate to hear others are feeling the same but it's reassuring that I'm not alone!
Ah, good to know...I haven't done much with any amber fo's but yes, it's seems to be in the lighter catagory. Do you bump up the fo load on your amber fragrances?
I've tested this fo in both soy and paraffin wax and not getting much of a throw at 6%. Curious to know if anyone else is getting better results (same % or higher) with this fo...just looking for some feedback if anyone has tested in wax. I LOVE this scent and hoping it's just not best for b&b. I do have to say this is my first oil with Peak's that hasn't thrown well...kind of surprised.
And they only last 1-2hrs. so I guess all their punch is in a short period of time. I think this is a great question mizbizzyb. I found a good comparison is being part of a candle swap. I've burned a couple from a recent swap and their scent throw was very comparable to mine so it made me feel more confident in my throw. I use 70% soy so I don't think I'll get an overpowering scent throw with any scent (not saying I don't have some super strong ones but all that are enjoyable and not obnoxious). I got feedback too on mine and all were very positive! Glad I was part of the swap.
I hate V-1 too so you're not alone...I luckily only got 1 10lb. bag of it and made tarts with the rest of it. I've fiddle farted around with it for votives and was a huge waste of time.
I don't use 100% soy (70/30 blend) but use Peak's oils and for my wax I add at 180 and stir at least 2min. (longer for heavier)...heat back up to my pouring temp of 190-200. Key is to make sure the oil binds with the wax so at least a couple of minutes of stirring is needed.
I'm in love with your candles...seriously...those colors rock (& would look great in my family room too!)!!!!! I hope you're in my group for the luxury swap!
Thx for the feedback everyone...really appreciate it and good ideas on what to do. You have a good point...bringing in new customers will be worth the freebies given out. I'll work on a better incentive plan .
