  1. LOL~~~ !!! (I shouldn't laugh, I've never even attempted layering or swirling) Now for Halloween it might be interesting!
  2. HP is all I do, and I think when people get rough looking soaps, they've over-cooked their batch, or haven't used full water.
  3. I chunks don't really add a lot of scent, but they're so varied (lilac/pikake/ginger souffle/pink sugar/stormwatch) I figured the Tropical Nectar (Bolek's) would be a good base since it combines fruity, coconut-y type notes. Nice summery scent and look. With the chunky confetti soaps, (as opposed to shreds)I've found they hold together best when used as a hand soap. In the shower they have a tendency to break apart over time when you work the bar on a bath pouf. (just my experience) Thanks everybody!
  4. I thought I'd make use of the soaps that I only had a bar left of in various scents, so chopped them up and added them to a batch of Tropical Nectar. HP'ed.
  5. Beautiful artwork!!! It does look classy. (yours too LaVida! Love your site!)
  6. Some shampoos (detergents) and conditioners leave a buildup on your hair that takes a while to remove when switching to a soap bar. I've found that my regular bars are too high in excess fats for a nice shampoo, so I cut down the % of superfat for a shampoo bar. They don't seem to work for all kinds of hair ~ mine is low maintence so have been lucky, but it's really a personal thing when it comes to "soaping" your hair, I believe. Took some experimenting to find a formula I liked~I almost threw in the towel on Shampoo Bars.
  7. I made a shampoo bar batch using: Castor 28% coconut 28% Olive 44% 4% superfat It's been my favorite of 3 different recipes. Cleaned nice without leaving my hair limp. I did HP, and it traced super fast. I think shampoo bars are a "love 'em or hate 'em" thing for people. I gave my hair a week to adjust (couple bad hair days) to the bar.
  8. I've been able to divide up my butter into 4 containers immediately after whipping~whip in scent~and put in jars.
  9. Fabulous! The star anise looks like a fireworks display in the sky.
  10. WOW!!! Very appealing and quite an innovative product!
  11. :highfive: :highfive: :highfive: Awesome! Thanks!
  12. I found some of his pics in an old post~ Gorgeous!!!! #9 http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10405
  13. I've been searching under "kpangan" and "PENTADESMA BUTYRACEA " and I can't find a SAP value for it anywhere. :undecided Anyone else have any luck?
  14. It's lovely! The oats adorning the top is a perfect touch~(making mental note~lol) I use honey quite often, along with a bit of beeswax; I believe they offset each other in the soft/hardness issue.
  15. Lovely presentations! I especially love the sheer varigated ribbon tied to the blue/cream soap~that's just gorgeous
  16. 123 for me as well. I did it the backwards way. I was bemoaning the fact that my printer used such expensive cartridges. A friend pointed out the cartridges she uses for her Canon, and I was floored by how cheap they are. So I printed out a list of the models that used those cartridges, and went to Ebay in search of a new or used printer. Found and bought a couple used ones for "beans" really, and love the fact that I can print w/o being misery now. Phooey on expensive ink cartridges!!!
  17. Just a bump on this topic~it's getting to be that season and I really need to work on my basket-making skills. I'm thinking the tulle wrapped baskets would be a nice change from cello and shrinkwrap bags and not much more expensive. I'm wondering what color would be best to go with "generally" (and which to stay away from) that would still give some visibility to the contents. Anyway, does anyone have any kick-arse ideas on the gift wrapping situation? Or are gift bags more popular. I sure love the pics that were posted by CandleMan~that is one classy affair! Bonne
