  1. I'm no expert but maybe the honey and brown sugar separated from the oil?

I've played around with FBB quite a bit making scrubs and my problem was the mixture hardening up too much to easily squeeze out of a malibu or if I added enough oil to keep it from drying my skin then I lost most of the bubbleage ( is that a word?) I usually use a couple of ounces of oil to a lb of fbb and whip like a madman. How much oil did you use ? Something I recently discovered that holds it together and keeps it fluid and allows me to add extra oil is to add some unscented shower gel base ( shampoo base works also ) to the mix. I can't tell you the percentage because I mix it until it feels like the consistency I want. Even though it's for home use only ( I don't sell ) I also add a bit of preservative because I add aloe gel to it also. I use jojoba and ground apricot meal for the scrubbies instead of sugar or salt. I've made a few emulsified sugar scrubs and when it gets warm the oil does have a tendency to separate.

well our face wash bath isn't in the least bit hard...its sooooo creamy & fluffy. it feels wonderful even i was surprised after reading others "stories" . I absolutly love this stuff...it even cleared up a son to bepimple before it started:yay:

I just am not sure what caused a little seperation. when i put some in a jar you can see around the sides in the mixture some seperation and then just a few spots on top. SO i dont know how to keep it from not doing that. still works wonderfully to us & we just stir it...but if i were going to give it to someone i would want it to seperate.

  2. my face wash...my dh & i love this face wash but i noticed after 24 hrs a tad of oil seperation not alot but still it was there. how can i prevent this?

no water was near or touched it. :sad2:

    ffb

    sweet almond oil/olive oil

    honey

    tea tree oil

    brown sugar

    ( no particular order here)

  3. im so not finding anything successful to put samples in..darn it! people just want scent testers & such. I am somewhat limited as no more cash to keep buying stuff. i dont have a impulse sealer however i do have a food saver so tarted trying to make my own puches. I even tried it with my foil pouches some worked some didn't. i have tried so many things but nothing securely keeps my oils in.

  4. I just wanted to know if anyone out there can help me understand why Dry Flo is so expensive?

From what I understand it is modified corn starch. I can buy a box of corn starch from the grocery store for about $2 and I went on WSP site and the dry flow is $10.25 for 1.50lbs. WHY?

I would like to try using the dry flow but i'm not so sure because of the cost. If anyone out there can tell me where I can find it cheaper. HELP!

hmmmm i think wsp is spendy...i got it for less than 6 for a lb. I use it in my cosmetics & fairy dust.

  5. Ok so Im a little frustrated....searched high & low for sample pouches that wouldn't rip me off in shipping ( the company) i then found some & thought they were the see through on one side ones as well as heat & seal ( like with a heart gun/hair dryer etc...) ok so i get them just in time cuz i have to leave tonight to give someone samples. NOPE not the ones I need or want or can use. Not see through, not easy sealable...not sure how to seal them probably something I dont have. And now not sure how to give someone my scrub/scent samples. Dont know what to do:sad2:

  6. OK, no matter how dry I make my bombs, when I set them down to dry they flatten out. Just a tiny bit, mind you, but I hate seeing that little flat spot.

Right now I'm trying setting them into a pile of cornstarch to see how that goes. You know, to support the bomb.

    Any other suggestions?

BTW, I know it's not the humidity - can you believe it is 80 degrees and ONLY 55% HUMIDITY?!? LOVE it!

    Carol

sounds like you have too much liquid/oils in your bombs.

  7. I don't have any of those things. I do have a huge old cheese box (a round one) and several of the smaller (velveeta size) wood cheese boxes, an old coffee grinder, some cutter quilts...that's about it. I am concerned about how to display them so that my walls or kitchen, etc. don't show in the background. I hate taking pictures. :(

make sure you dont have too much going on...too busy of a background, it will take away from your products. How about just a plain background like white or black from felt, fabric etc... to make your items pop? Or how about a nice soft print sheet something very suttle & then put boxes under it to create demention and different levels for your products to sit on. how how about a plain background and maybe some flower pots like terricota and putting them upright, on their sides very simple & just a slight added feature to your products.

  8. ok so we all did the HUGE thread of FO that discolor soap...what about the ones that dont. I am affraid to ruin another batch. I cant use vanilla or wedding cake for my cupcake soaps. But even for reg. ones not sure if the FO I want to use will "ruin" more soap.

  9. I know & saw the thread on liability insurance...but any of you from Oregon; who do you use and what do you ask or need to know when getting information about it. I dont have it and am just starting on the venture...so now I need to see if insurance would break me out of even starting this business. In oregon what do the need from me...meaning do they come to my home ( agents) i dont have an designated business area.
