  1. Choosy moms choose jif is a catch line, and, it's not really attempting to pass that off as fact. It's not stating that, as per the latest university study, 73% of moms, chose jif. There's a difference between that website, which is trying to pass all those things off as fact, and a catch line like the one you stated. It doesn't apply, and frankly, it's not even close. So, what you are saying is that you are alright with things such as "We pour at extremely low temperatures so that fragrance oil isn't burned off" being stated on a website, and being passed off to consumers not knowing any better, as fact?
  2. That's how every brand has inspire loyalty? By deceiving? I don't think so. For them to say that their candle burns better, or smells nicer, is one thing, in that they are stating their opinions, much like Coke or Pepsi before them. For them to make it seem as if their candle is better BECAUSE they do something that nobody else does, which is a blatant, out and out lie, is a totally different story. You won't convince me differently, sorry. And, my point about not passing the test was, if your "facts" don't fly with experienced chandlers, then you shouldn't use them, because, eventually, you WILL be called out. You can't go on Yankee's website, or anyone else's for that matter, and find this type of marketing garbage.
  3. The marketing strategy is deceitful in its most basic sense, in that she is making the general public feel that those things she mentioned are unique to her product, which they aren't. If she were talking about some innovation or something that was, in fact, unique to her product, I don't think there would be anything wrong with it. As for her not intending for the experienced chandler to shop on her site...why not? Says who? If it doesn't pass THAT test, then it shouldn't be used.
  4. Yes, but the type of hits she or he will garner from this type of thread, aren't the type of hits that he or she wants, I'm sure, especially considering that most on here are experienced chandlers who can see through the crap. As for the proprietary wax? Come on. It's a 100% soy wax, according to them. How proprietary can it be? It's 100% soy...
  5. I was surfing and came across http://www.pureintegrity.com/best-scented-candle.html 7 Step Pouring process? Proprietary 100% stabilized soy wax? Proprietary to who? Intelliscent Fragrances? Anyone ever actually burn one of these? What is this garbage talk? It's all stuff that EVERY hand poured Soy Candle has (hand pouring at extremely low temperatures, or the fragrance oil burns off????).
  6. Theoretically, shouldn't the hottest burning wicks mushroom least? In that, because of the temperature of the flame, they should be able to combust most completely?
  7. Question about the wick trimmers. Are they like the other ones (much more expensive) that have that kind of built in 3/8" measurement and debris catcher? The other ones are kinda neat cause you don't have to worry about trimming too short. Are these the same way?
  8. Yes, but, they aren't all 100% soy. So, I would think it does narrow it down. Also, what about C3 and Eco Soya, etc? Are any of THEM 100% soy and Food grade?
  9. Of note is that they use a "food grade soy wax." So, that should, possibly, give us insight into what wax they use. I'm guessing it's a 100% soy (like the GB 415). Now, which of the 100% soys are "food grade"? Does anyone know?
  10. Those labels are awesome. I know you said in another thread they are just paper that you glued, but, do you think they might sell those as self adhesive labels?

  12. Woops. I figured I was spelling it wrong and didn't really feel like going on google and correcting myself. As for coreless, I've noticed that they do tend to mushroom less, however, they do still mushroom (some more than others).
  13. I know that the mushrooms are caused by "incomplete combustion" which means that the wick isn't burning off the fragrance oil it is ciphening up (like a straw), however, I know there are two schools of thought on how to best fix this (or at least improve it). Some people say to wick up, so as to better be able to burn the FO being ciphened, and some say to wick down, so as to ciphen less FO. http://www.justbynature.com/How-to-troubleshoot-wick-mushrooming.html That says to wick down, however, what do you all think? Obviously, coreless wicks also work better than cored ones, in this regard. I'm curious as to what everyone here feels.
  14. This is what is says on their website regarding their fragrance oils and their wax: Pure Fragrance We design our fragrance blends in-house using only the finest in perfume and essential oils... with no petroleum fillers or dilution oils. This gives a solid fragrance blend that is very clean and pure for your senses. Our blends are extremely intricate, often with fragrance notes 30 to over 100 deep, equal to that of a fine parfum. Pure Wax We choose to use a 100% natural, all vegetable SOY wax, made from soybeans farmed in the USA. er'goSOY wax is so pure that it could be eaten and we have, without fragrance of course! Basically, it is a solid form of soybean oil made without any petroleum by-products or color dyes. What this means to you is a CLEAN BURNING candle with very little soot!
  15. What type of wick is it? In the picture, it doesn't look to be as big as is indicated, but, that can be very deceiving? Any guesses as to the wick type?
  16. Well, I've not burned these, but, I was just going by what Dean said. Specifically, he said they throw so well that it's different than any candle out there, regardless of the amount of FO (see above).
  17. I may be wrong, but, it would be nearly impossible to achieve the type of hot throw that Dean is talking about, with a straight soy (415) without additives. The wax itself I believe has a max FO load of 10% and, even using that amount, with the most concentrated fragrance oils you can find, would probably be very difficult. But, I could be wrong.
  18. No.....Depends alot on the freight company. When I ordered my pallet of Wax from Brenda at Greenleaf, she was quoting me $400+ for the freight on the pallet from her freight companies, and, I know she worked hard to get me the best quote cause she got about five of them. I went out on my own and found a company called Central Transport, that delivered the pallet for like $190. That's pretty significant. Also, even the $400 companies would have saved you more than 10 cents per jar, over stanard UPS rates (unless you went with UPS freight, which is yet another freight company). Your savings on freight, when buying by the pallet, are very significant. Even IF you were only saving 10 cents, that's about a 10% savings on cost. That's fairly significant in and of itself.
  19. Again, someone jumpging to their defense that has never posted before yesterday. Hmmmmmmm.
  20. I know a "standard pallet" is about five feet high by about five feet wide. As for price breaks, it depends completely on the supplier. As for freight, you will pay ALOT less, on a per item basis, by having a pallet shipped. Shop around and you can normally have a pallet shipped from most any supplier, for under $300 (my pallets have all been shipped for under $200).
  21. Yes, but, getting wax at that price, even buying DIRECT from the manufacturer, pallets at a time, is difficult (if not impossible), depending of course on the wax. What wax is it anyway?
  22. I just don't think that's possible unless she's buying by the truckload (even pallet pricing when buying several pallets), would put her above that on most any wax out there.
