  1. I have looked into this before. I believe they coat the glass with a substance (possibly Modge Podge) and then they sprinkle the glitter inside and move it around well to coat all areas and then shake out the glitter that did not stick. I asked a gal at Michaels if Modge Podge was not flammable but we could not tell on the bottle. She did not know. I have seen some of those after a complete burn...wax is gone...and the sides are not as attractive as the candle burns down....looked as if the sparkles can melt off and slide down. It is very pretty when new and for part of life of the candle. I have used glitter on the tops of my candles many times, but prefer it only on uncolored wax and diamond glitter...crystal..no color. I do like the look of the colored glitter on these candles on the sides when new.
  2. I agree. Some of us are just not to the point to buy in a large enough bulk to get the prices down, especially those like myself that just got back into the biz and moving really slow for various reasons. That is another reason why it is not always a good idea to have too many fragrances, which I am guilty of doing. One would have to have a large customer base and consistent sales to order in bulk for many different oils.
  3. $4.50 for me. If Scentsy can sell their's for $5.00, ours are worth it just as well. I don't know how anyone makes much on them at all if they sell them less than $4.00, unless they have a huge customer base and can buy all the supplies in larger bulk. To me it would not be worth it, if I sold less then $4.00 and maybe even $4.50. The bummer thing is, are the low costs ones at Walmart, Walgreens and now even Big R!!!! I cannot compete with those prices.
  4. The updated sample was shipped this morning! I will let you know what I think when I receive it. I hope I made the right call.....it needing a stronger coffee note. I have to admit, it is hard to tell what note was off when one does not know all that is in the original. TSB just had more kick to it....smelled more concentrated and I believe had a stronger coffee note.
  5. Hi Laura, I just got the notice saying my box is full. I will go delete some things if case you still need to PM me. I will be calling CMS again on Tuesday and as soon as I get the second sample I will let you know what I think and if it is close enough, I will send you the other sample so you can have an input. You are welcome and I will keep you posted!
  6. My exact thought. The only time that it might work out is if both scents take the same wick but how would you know if things do not change when they mix together...seems like it wouldn't but how would they know for sure. I have never tested that.
  7. Received the sample dupe today! It is not absolutely dead on but it is very close. I pulled out what I have left of the Scented Beans version and to me, the coffee note is a little stronger than the dupe. The dupe is very close and smells really good...just like the real thing so far out of the bottle. I do not know what other notes are in the Scented Beans Hazelnut Coffee other than Hazelnut and Coffee or the CMS dupe. Once I send Joyofsoycanldle the extra sample she can give her input as well. He said for us to let him know. I need to run a test in a wax melt. It has been so long since I tested the Scented Bean's in a wax melt that it will be hard to compare scent throws. I will make sure the throw is good and get an idea if the scent is close enough. I think maybe the CMS's is slightly sweeter, but like I said very close and smells really good....great coffee fragrance...just like the real thing. It is definitely better than others that I have smelled oob. I am going to go sniff it again. I have it lingering on my nose but not sure if it is TSB or the CMS.
  8. You are welcome! Thank you for starting the post and finding out that CMS dupes! He is very nice.
  9. UPDATE: The CMS called me the other day. They are sending me two bottles of what they have come up with. Joyofsoycandle, I will send you the other bottle when I receive them so you can give an input as well. They said once we are satisfied with the dupe, they will list it in their fragrance list for sale. He also said that each person that sniffed it there had a different opinion. I think he said there were 4 that gave their opinions. He said that it is subjective, which is the case. I look forward to receiving the samples. I will let you know what I think when I get them.
  10. That is great! I am addicted to Pink Sugar right now as well. It is funny how I love it more now than I did when I first tested it years ago. It grew on me. I never disliked liked it but was not as crazy about it as others were at that time. Now, it is one that I want to smell often.
  11. In the main part of the house, I tend to want my candles to give off a strong throw and not less than a very good medium throw if the scent is hard to pass up....can't find one better and smells really good...a must have...or a scent that is just not meant to be really strong. The only time that I may lower these standards is if it is a spa line (and a one wicked candle) with type of fragrances that are great for bedrooms or bathrooms. Even then, I still tend to like them to have at least a good medium throw in the main part of the house. Most people will burn the strawberry shortcake in the main part of the house or the kitchen. HTH
  12. Yes, BW Vanilla Sugar is awesome. It is my new buttercream frosting.
  13. It is in the mail and on its way to The Candlemakers Store! I hope they dupe it as close as possible. It is a strong oil....at least it was in the wax I used at that time.
  14. Sent a PM. I will get it in the mail on Monday. I do hope the smell quality is still good even though it is past 2 years old. I will smell it again, but from what I could tell when I smelled it when this post first started, it seemed to smell fine. It has been in a dark cabinet and in a VERY cool area...cold in the winter. They really did have quality oils. I miss them! Maybe they would be able to dupe their Sweet Serendipity. I have less than an ounce left of that one. I will keep you posted!
  15. Well, that is a bummer. Strange they are not responding. They usually have great customer service. Even if they did not want to take it on, it just takes a quick response saying they do not want to do it at this time. Not sure why they are not responding. Thank you for trying. I have possibly 2 oz. left. I will keep it just in case.
  16. P.S. I have several large pots (some used for different waxes and some used to mix different fragrances if I have bigger orders) and several small pots for smaller orders and testers.
  17. That is how I do it as well. I actually have three presto pots and one pancake griddle that I use for different wax to keep warm. Right now since I have just reopened not long ago, I am only using one presto pot and the griddle (griddle is to keep different waxes warm). I get tired of the steam from the water getting in the air. One pot is bad enough. I have a 150 pound wax melter as well, but only used that when I did fundraisers. It will be awhile before I use that again. Maybe someday I will need that again. I did not use it a whole lot.
  18. I think you are talking about MzBizzyB...something like that. She was a member on here and bought The Scented Bean. I was so happy for her that she bought such a great company but she never followed through with it. They had excellent oils. I am still trying to find a cinnamon stick that is as good along with several other fragrances they had. Beckie of BizzyB Chunk Candles and Studio Beck was a member on here as well.
  19. That was Beckie. She was also a graphic designer...Studio Beck. She was my designer. She closed up shop...both graphics and candles. Not sure what she is doing now or if she reopened but maybe under a different name. I miss her.
  20. I do not know what this one smells like, but was eyeing this one too. I wonder why in the reviews it appears even though the candle makers like the scents and think many of them smell the same or very close the Scentsy, they also seem to mention that many are weaker than the original. Not sure if this means because they could not get the formula down exact and this is why they are weaker or the oils we can purchase are just weaker than what the big boys can get. I wonder if they are cut and even with the Extreme version. I noticed the reviewer said that even though this fragrance is a great dupe and got the Extreme version, it is weaker than Scentsy's. P.S. Maybe the weakness in many of these dupes is because the wax they are using is not throwing it as well as the wax that Scentsy is using. Not sure.
  21. I remember a long time ago a supplier carried a no-drip pouring pot (it was a small pot). I believe it was Wholesale Supplies Plus. I looked at their site, but I did not see it. Does anyone know where to get one? I need to use it to pour into small molds. Thank you!
  22. It is not quite as heavy as it was when Snowtop had it, but I still find it heavier than most. It may depend on the wax being used as well. I find that heavier oils mix better in soy than paraffin blends (pure paraffin). With the heavier oils, I usually mix it in at a higher temp and I keep it in the presto pot for while I begin to stir. I have to stir it a little longer than most oils if I remember correctly. I don't recall how much trouble I had mixing it since I just reopened and only made it once in tarts so far. It was not as hard as The Scented Beans Cinnamon Stick (sure wish I can find a Cinnamon Stick as good as this one). I have one CNC tart in a souffle cup (solo cup instead of the Dart cups that I now use) sitting on the shelf and there is no oil at the bottom or residue.....it is in a para/soy wax (more paraffin than soy though but can hold a lot of oil). Are you using paraffin? I do find it on the darker side as well....makes the non colored tart on the light tan side.
  23. Thank you! I just called my husband (he is at Walmart shopping) to pick me up a new glue gun and if it does not work, I will try superglue. P.S. Just called him and he said he has some superglue in his toolbox. I am going to give it a try.
