  1. I am trying to use up some random jars and decided to fill a couple of these with Fall mold tarts. My problem is I want to decorate the lids but need the lid to open up together....the flat part that seals with the rim part that twists. Has anyone tried hot gluing them together? My hot glue gun is not working, so I cannot test it out. I thought maybe if I turn the flat part around so the rubber part is not touching the glass it may help it untwist together when opened if they are glues together...would not put pressure on the glue as much if the rubber is not grabbing the glass. Also, are there solid lids that fit these wide mouthed canning jars?
  2. BW Gingersnap is awesome! I can't compare it to any others, but it sure tested well for me in tarts....parasoy. I just tested it.
  3. Hi, I have not ordered it yet, because I do not use them. I am trying to watch my budget and trying not to add any additional suppliers right now. Someday, I hope to get around to it. Do you order from them? I ordered a few samples from them a long time ago but never tested all of them and the ones I did, were no go's. If you do order from them, which fragrances have you had success with? When I finally do order it, I will post my results.
  4. I notice that is says reformulated by the Caramel Nut Cluster on their site. Since I was closed for two years, I cannot remember if that has been on there for awhile, or if it was recently reformuated. I think I remember it being reformulated awhile ago but not sure. Is this a new reformulation or an old one? I think the fragrance I have left may be after the reformulation I remember them doing....not sure if i am remembering correctly. Thanks!
  5. Exactly! I agree. That is why it is hard for many candles makers, including myself.....not enough help...and usually no help. I am most likely talking about the same person, and I agree with you. I have two girls but I am not a very good delegator (unless I had paid help) and they really have no interest at all. I am very particular as well with my products when made. When I worked the biz for 5 years they were pretty young during that time.
  6. I have noticed this too. I have the most luck with Backwoods, Peaks, Candle Cocoon, AH and a few at CS and Millcreek. I have definitely noticed a descrease in quality over the years. There are a few other places I have not tried but want to. I should say that I do have pretty good luck with MMS but I don't order a lot of samples from there or carry a lot from there but the ones I do are great.
  7. I think I know who you are talking about. She does seem like a lot of fun and great at marketing. I think the key is not only having a quality product but also great marketing skills. It all talkes a lot of work and time that is for sure. It is hard to make the time for excellent marketing on top of devoping and production, etc.
  8. Yes, I use the 2 oz. cups but they really only hold 1.5 oz. net wet. I see that many will advertise their single melts as 2 oz. but as far as I can tell from weighing them after poured it is 1.5 oz. I sell the clamshells for $4.50 and the single melts for $1.95. For now my single melts have an informal label. I mainly sell them so people can try fragrances out. I have not been reopened long enough to know how well the single melts will do. I figure I should sell the clamshells as much as Scentsy does but there is so much competition with the small vendors that have such cheap prices. Not sure how they even make anything with such low prices. I guess a slightly lower price than Scentsy will help compete with them as well.
  9. Clamshells look more professional, so I like the clamshells better. I sell both since the portion cups are great for customers to sample fragrances and for me to use and free samples.
  10. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
  11. CC Coconut Macaroon is to die for. I was going to get it and then closed my biz in 2010. I am open again and it is on my list of fragrances to add. Love it! Glad you created a great tart!
  12. As far as I remember, the neck jars they have (apothecaries) are only single wicked. I was in a Yankee store not long ago and the jars that they double wick I believe are straight sided (no neck at least). I can't remember for sure if all the double wicked were no-neck jars.
  13. Congratulations! And yes, that is a great wax....3022! It has been my favorite for awhile. Hope all continues to go well.
  14. That sounds like an awesome mix! So, the WYW Pumpkin does not have anything else as in the way of spice, etc....just plain? I do not order from there often, so I am wondering if I might be able to find another pumpkin for mixing from the places that I order regularly from. Not sure if the Pumpkin Pie fragrance would be the best to mix with something like Maple Pecan since it is a mixed Pumpkin as is...has other things in it...crust, some spice, etc.. Thanks! P.S. I do not order from LS either so I wonder what would be close to the Maple Pecan at some of the places I order from. I will take a look.
  15. I just started thinking about mixing fragrances. Not sure why it has taken me this long to start trying this. Anyway, I used to use ICS Mac Apple for a straight Mac Apple scent, but I am going to be changing over to CS's Mac Apple. Does a Mac Apple fragrance oil make a good mixer apple for bakery type scents or other types as well....fall types...apple mixed with a spicy type fragrance? When I smell it, it appears different than the apple notes I pick up in apple scents...bakery types and fall types, etc. Not sure if this is because it is mixed or if it is a different type of apple, like maybe a green apple, etc. Thanks for any suggestions.
  16. That is funny that the three of us were just thinking about this at the same time.
  17. Do you mean that if you have an oil that you have been using for 10 to 12 months you no longer want to carry it because you are sick of it or pour it because it may be old?
  18. \' YES! I am terrible about this. I have many oils I just have not gotten around to and others that I put on the back burner because they did not motivate me OOB. I was just thinking about this. I think what I am going to start doing is when I get testers in, I am going to try to pour all of them right away. It is too much work to quickly to do this with candles, but I will definitely do this for melts from now on. This way I will not be wasting them and have them sit there and get old and also so I do not get overwhelmed with so many unpoured.
  19. Backwoods New England Mist. I just added it. It has a great throw! I just bought a sample of BW's Salty Sea Air. I have not tested it yet but it smells great out of bottle.
  20. P.S. I checked my post and if the person is not reading carefully they may think 3 wicks in general and not in the proper jar. I can't edit now. Oh well, I am sure they will figure it out, especially if they read our latest posts.
  21. I hope my post did not give that impression either. I will check. If I did mention it, I think it was regarding the open neck wide jars. It can get nutty typing all this out. lol
  22. Backwoods has an excellent Pumpkin Pie. It throws well. I have not yet determined the lifespan. I find that many bakery scents do not last as long as other types of scents. You may want to give Backwood's a try. It is the Grammy's Pumpkin Pie not the Grammy's Yummy Pumpkin. I tested the Yummy Pumpkin but cannot remember if I tested it in candles and melts or one or the other. I did not add it. I should test it again, but when I tested Grammy's Pumpkin Pie when I reopened my biz, I really liked it, so I went for that one. I also like MMS Pumpkin...not sure if it is called Pumpkin Pie or Pumpkin Spice. I believe it is the same as Gold Canyon's Pumpkin Pie.
  23. That is what I am thinking, but I guess we will never know on that for sure. Darn! Not sure why though the wicks still look long enough not to drown but the flame becomes weak anyway. How frustrating. Also, GC candles are really bad with this problem. Theirs used to be better way back when but not now. Their tall apothecaires get weak flames often. Only their open jars burn well enough and their short apothecaries. They will get ash on the tips as well. That is one reason why I could not sell for them after I closed my biz and tried to rep for another company. Weak flames or flames that go out are a pet peeve of mine.
