  1. EmJean - I use 9 ounces of wax when using a 8oz square mason. I always hold back a couple ounces for a repour, my tops always seem to turn out good - but I still go ahead and add the last couple ounces. I have tried CD wicks in the past and have had NO luck with HT. I know many on this board use them and love em - but I just can't get them to work for me no matter how hard I try. I like the Eco wicks because they produce a nice steady flame and I've always gotten a wonderful HT as well. I use a combination of waxes - a paraffin and soy so maybe that has something to do with the strong HT. Good luck! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!!
  2. For the 8oz square mason I use either an Eco 8 or Eco 10.
  3. Thank you all for the advice! I'm definitely going to try these tips this weekend. Maybe now I'll have some luck at this. All the ideas sound like great ways to try some new blends. Thank you again and I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season.
  4. Last week I decided to try and start blending some fragrance oils - to be honest, I had no luck. For instance, I did a blend of carrot cake and coffee (20% coffee/80% Carrot Cake) when the tart started melting, all I could smell was the coffee. Tried another blend of Raspberry and Sugar Cookie - all I could smell was the raspberry. So, I have to ask - is there a specific formula for mixing scents ( I know, it's a dumb question) or is it just trial and error?? I have ordered a few tarts from a company online and she has tons of tarts that are a mixture of scents and they always smell amazing - when I try, it's a flop. She turns these things out so fast, it's hard to believe she is testing them all. So I'm wondering, is there a trick to this or just blend and be happy with what you get?????? This is so frustrating! Thanks in advance for your input!
  5. With a smile on my face, I would politely say,"Now, I'm not giving out any info. regarding my suppliers I hope you understand." As the customer walks away, I would be hoping they don't see the thought bubble on the top of my head.
  6. You should try Pumpkin Pie (KY) from Rustic Essentials. IMO, that one smells pretty close, if not spot on to Yankees Spiced Pumpkin!!
  7. My favorite is Candy Corn from Just Scent!
  8. Being I'm in Northern California near Sacramento, I was so happy when I got this email. But, to be honest, it didn't change the shipping rates all that much, which is really weird. For 10lbs. of the 464 wax, it's still cheaper for me to order from Peak than CS. Too bad, because I like the fact that if I placed an order with CS, it would arrive the next day. I guess I'll be sticking with Peak when ordering my waxes.
  9. IMO, and again, it's just my opinion, but I have a feeling you're right in the assumption that the directions were misleading so others would not have the same success. I was told by a few people that the wax she uses/sold was/is 415. She probably tried to pass it off as something different just to throw people off. When you think about it, there really aren't THAT many types of wax out there, and most vendors are going to use what is the most economical, as well as produce a strong HT - and the 415 pretty much fits the bill.
  10. Thank you for the info! I'm hoping to find more of the oils she uses - I have to say, she does have some VERY good smelling FO's.
  11. Karen - Have you tried any of the Blackberry scents from Natures Garden? Miami Erie aka Front Porch Candles is in Ohio, and chances are she orders many of her fragrance oils from the closest supplier to save on shipping - as we all try to do. I know I have gotten a few FO's from NG that are without a doubt what is sold at Front Porch - she just changes the name. It irritated me when she stopped selling her oils because I loved her Sugar Cookie Dough Bread FO - that one I found at Just Scent, it's Ice Cream Scoop Bread - it's the exact same scent. She gets these oils and completely changes the names - but as I said, I have come across a few oils that are exact dupes of hers. Hope this helps!!
  12. Yuck! I'd never buy it - looks disgusting.
  13. That was pretty interesting to read those comments - I hope Angie read those. I have to agree that most of her tarts smelled the same - the only reason I ever ordered any was to use them as a "benchmark" in making my own. As I stated in an earlier post, her oils were good but her attitude was s**t. I would see so many on her FB page politely complain about something and she never seemed like she cared, she always gave the same dumb stock answer - I found it so annoying. As far as her Christian posts, I thought it was crazy. A REAL Christian doesn't have to prove to others they are one - it comes naturally in their everyday actions. IMO she doesn't know the meaning of the word, but that's just my opinion.
  14. I must say, I have ordered many of her oils when she sold on Ebay - and to be honest, they were IMO, some of the best I have ever used. But, after she pulled her oils off Ebay and raised her prices, I stopped ordering. Add to that, I didn't like her attitude...I won't go into detail, but I'd rather have spent my money elsewhere.
  15. mzphee...I use a 50/50 blend of 4794/464.
