  1. My personal preference is the corn cob sachets compared to the cardboard.
  2. Ditto - I did not care for the Teaberry at all. When burning, it smelled like some kind of sports cream my son would use after one of his many injuries :laugh2: These are a few I can think of that are very very good: Vermont Maple Syrup Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Fresh Peach
  3. I have used cosmetic glitter on the tops of the candle only without any adverse burning issues. I have found that the glitter will sink to the bottom of the MP when lit. I would think that trying to add glitter into the melt pot before pouring, it would sink also and not "suspend" for a full glitter effect in your candle. JMHO
  4. I am pretty sure Vickey lists wick size recommendations on her website to give you a starting point with the Perfect Blend. She has the regular formula and a new formula out. I have a slab of the new formula to test but haven't gotten to it yet.
  5. J300 was a one pour and I thought that it had some soy in it according to my supplier (???). When I was doing comparison testing, the 6006 would get sink holes and yes, wicking was a bit more challenging. I know alot of people who use and love the 6006 but for me at the time it was not a similar wax even tho the supplier suggested it as a "replacement".
  6. I was an avid J300 user until I could not get it anymore. Knowing that it was being discontinued I tested the 6006. IMHO they were nothing alike I loved the J300 and have since moved on to a parasoy blend.
  7. I agree - Heartfelts Fresh Baked Cookies is the best I have found. I use a parasoy.
  8. You can blend 415 with most any paraffin blended wax like J50, J223, 4786, etc. Some blend ratios of 50/50, 70/30, 75/25. Adding the paraffin blend generally helps with wicking, cure time and scent throw. I have played around with blending and its been working but I still prefer a wax already pre-blended for me.
  9. Colonial Tin Works have them: http://www.colonialtin.com/cat-29-1-21/Standard_Wax_Warmers.htm
  10. I use these jars as well with a parasoy blend. I can single wick with 51z or smaller on some oils but find that if over wicked I tend to get soot half way thru the candle due to the jar being taller than the diameter. A restricted air flow issue possibly? Jami or Meridith - have you found this with the waxes you are using?
  11. I use BCN pumpkin pie and like it (not the close out) but I have just ordered Pumpkin Souffle from TCS and am excited to get it. I think I seen good reviews on this one so I have my fingers crossed.
  12. Hey Stephanie - I am not sure of a good MP145 alternative but I have found that Make Scents in the Columbus area still sells the 6228. HTH
  13. Here is a recent link discussing smelly jellies. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53027&highlight=smelly+jellies ETA - I sell quite a few of them and don't have a problem with the fo blending. I heat distilled water before adding the fo and keep stirring.
  14. Vicky explained this very well. I test both ways blowing out the flame and dipping it out. I prefer to dip. It reduces the after glow of the wick and the smoke that goes along with it.
  15. I also thought the name was a little risque for some of my customers so I rename it Tickled Pink - and color it pink as well.
  16. I have read somewhere that you can put them in the oven on the oven cleaner setting that gets really hot - but I have never tried it. It would be worth a try to see if you get the look you want I would only try 1 or 2 to begin with just in case it don't work for you
  17. What is your favorite container for making candles in? Is it your best selling container? I thought about a poll but there are too many options. Thought this might be interesting. My favorite is 16 oz apothecary's. Best seller is half pint wide mouth.
  18. I prepared a wholesale account in 2004 for a small business that wanted to sell my candles at our local fair (Fulton County Ohio). Yippee for me His order was quite large. He had a wonderful location and display area BUT he only sold 14 candles in an entire week. I felt bad for him but was glad that I had signed wholesale account requirement papers. Three years later - he is still selling my candles.
  19. I ran into the same situation in February with a new box of soy. It wouldn't burn for nothing - a boat rope wouldn't even allow a FMP My supplier immediately rectified the problem with a new box with a new lot number. But it is still sitting and I haven't gotten back to re-testing straight soy yet. So sorry this happened to you. I ended up using the bad stuff for tarts, wickless and waxed critters rather than junking it.
  20. Be sure to poke your holes BEFORE turning on the unit . . . I have forgotten and poked holes just a few seconds after starting it and a geyser like "Old Faithful" erupts !!!! Ask me how I know . . . :lipsrseal I really do love mine - it is awesome!
  21. On one of my paypal completed transactions the "ship package" option wasn't available. This is the first time this has happened. I need to ship this package parcel post and I can't seem to do it by going to USPS.com. It only gives me the options to ship express or priority. Can someone guide me as to how to do this without having to go to the post office? I'd appreciate it sooo much!
  22. I often times put a drop of water (not alot, just a drop) into the votive holder before beginning the votive burn. When the votive is finished the wax comes right out.
  23. I have always used the acrynom "SS" for Southern Scentsations. I see on the main page that Soap Silly has the acrynom
  24. I use the reed diffuser oil from Southern Scentsations and use a 50/50 ratio. The reeds are part of the empty kits that I purchase from them as well. www.greatcandle.com
  25. Nope - no need to replace the reeds yet. They have been flipped alot of times and are as sturdy as when I first put them in the base.
