    Most straight paraffins can only hold about 3% of FO so like candleman said it was too much for your wax. I suggest weighing your fo's instead of measuring it with measuring spoons. You're going to be able to make a better candle this way.

    I have it and like it a lot. Not greasy and soaks in quickly.

    Thanks. I just recall when I used to manage grocery stores that we kept the lard in the refrigerated section. I was worried that the citric acid etc, might cause problems. I really don't need my ingredients working against me on my very first batch of soap. :undecided I'm stressed enough as it is.

    I was hoping to try this recipe tonight and I just got back from the store to buy lard and not really thinking bought lard that doesn't require refrigeration. Now I'm wondering if I can use it. It's made by Armour and the ingredient list is Lard and Hydrogenated Lard BHA Propyl Gallate and Citric Acid added to help protect flavor.

    What does corn starch do for these? I see some recipies that call for it and others that don't. Just curious..... TIA ETA: We tried several recipies over the weekend and the only one that turned out as far as not activating was the one without. New to the whole B&B thing so lots to learn. Bear with me......I won't always be this ignorant.

    HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! I wouldn't recommend leaving it on for extended periods. There really is no reason to as it melts 8 lbs pretty fast.

    I don't have a lot of experience with this wax but my experience is that you should'nt have to unless you're using a huge container. Like Christina said more answers are to be found on Brendas board as well.

    What temp did you pour at? What kind of wax? I'm guessing it was either your pour temp or you may need to add some stearic next time.

    If you have the mold sitting on paper towels (I use 2) instead of directly on the melting surface the paper towels absorbs most of the wax so you don't have the problem of the candle staying in the mold. You will get a little residual wax that hangs up on the edge of the melted surface but it brushes right off with out leaving surface blemishes. If you have a candle that you poured way off you may need to change the paper towels out. HTH

    Okay, I'm new to the soaping thing. In fact haven't made any yet but am putting together all the supplies I need. I'd rather buy something that's good the first time instead of wishing I had gotten one of these. Where can I buy one?

    Anyone using this wax? Wondering if you like it, hate it, don't care one way or the other. I just ordered a slab of it to play with to see if I like it. Got it more for votives than anything else.

    Alright, another one coming over to the dark side. Swore I wasn't gonna but here I am learning all about it. Need a smiley that slaps it's forhead and says DOH! Probably going to give it a shot this weekend.
