  1. Carole, don't know how I missed this. Your set up is awesome. Love the lazy susans your DH made. I am also amazed at how centered the wicks are with no centering device. Those are some great looking tins.
  2. Love the kitty pillars. What a great basket of goodies. Never did an on-line auction so can't help there but good luck. Hope you raise lots of money. I remember when you first joined. Weren't you making candles for an animal shelter fund raiser?
  3. WTG :yay: Sounds like you had a fantastic week end. Isn't it great when folks recognize you have a super product and are willing to pay for it?
  4. I've had success double wicking these. It does take a couple of burns to get a full melt pool.
  5. This is my favorite set so far. Your presentation is just so awesome.
  6. You are a wax artist. Love the colors. Would never have thought of a touch of brown to set off the greens. That's why you're the pro. Another one for my pillar notebook.
  7. Everyone will want to win one of those. Great idea. They really look cute.
  8. What a beautiful collection of candles. Love them all.
  9. Looking good. I am a pro at messing up pillars. Maybe I should try these. LOL
  10. Glad you had a great show. I have 2 more then I can sit back and catch my breath. Had shows Sat. and Sun. Both were OK nothing to get real excited about. But so different. Sat. sold the heck out of my mini casseroles, air fresheners and wax melts. Today was at a private school and these folks seemed willing to spend a little more money. Finally sold some of my shell 'canes and sold all my dolphin everlasting pillars. To my surprise CS Mistletoe has been a good seller in votives and wax melts. I love CS Brandied Pear and can't sell them for love or money. Did it up in mini casseroles, votives and wax melts. No surprise JS Chestnut and Brown Sugar has been my no.1 seller. Resting tonight and will start pouring again Monday for next Sat.
  11. Good looking set up. I love the stand you have your containers on. So neat you got to meet Crafty. You'll find future shows are easier but I still stress out with every set up. People really do pay attention. In my experience if they see you at future shows they will be more willing to look and buy your stuff. Before you know it they will be looking for you. The nicest compliment I received Sat. was from a lady who had received an air freshener as a gift last yr. She came to Saturday's show just to buy air fresheners from me. I guess I should give up testing wicks and just make air fresheners. LOL
  12. Be careful with the square container. I pick upped something similar last year for Valentines Day. Did a power burn and the whole container started to burn about 2/3 of the way down. I just threw them all out since so many customers light a container and leave it. I had no problems with 3 hr burns. For testing purposes I always do a power burn (8 hrs) just to see what happens.
  13. I'm curious on the responses too. A new one is scheduled for my area next spring. They are going to have a craft section but it was recommended to get a space in the Home and Garden section. Just didn't know if people would be willing to carry candles around a big show.
  14. That is scary. You need to tell your friend so they don't use that person for any future funs raisers.
  15. Cool! That rose pillar will be so popular for Valentines Day and Mothers Day.
  16. Yep, you have it down perfectly. Think the light is on.
  17. Lovely pillar. It will be perfect for your open house. Didn't know you could use the wick pins after taking the pillar out of the mold. Cool idea.
  18. Sarah, I've tried Forever pillars using pillar paraffin waxes and had the same results as you. I've had success using my hurricane wax and palm wax both of which have a higher melting point. When I have time I'm going back to experiment with additives in the pillar paraffin. Adding a micro wax to raise the melting point may work. I did make up a 4" diameter pillar for a friend to allow for that little bit of melting around the tea light cup. Good Luck
  19. I do feel sorry for Grandma. It is hard when someone is stuck in an abusive situation. You set up looks great. Glad the 2nd day went better. Maybe by next yr. she'll have finally closed her store and won't be around.
  20. Paper towels, aluminum foil, wax paper and newspapers are your best friends. Newspaper the floor when making candles. So much easier to pick up the papers than scrap wax off the floor. No matter how careful you try to be stuff happens. I put the wax paper / foil on the counters. Should have bought stock in both companies. Now buy paper towels at Sam's Club by the 12 pack. Line the top of your scale with foil. So much easier to replace the foil than clean the scale. Paper Dixie cups are a Godsend. Another company I should have bought stock in. If using a paper cup to weigh out FO be sure to immediately pour it into your pour pot. Never use plastic cups to weigh out FO. Amazing how fast the FO can eat through that plastic. Gardening gloves are a must for cleaning molds especially votive cups. I haven't sliced my fingers / hand (knock on wood) since wearing the gloves. This should be a given but have a fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it. No one plans on having a fire but stuff happens. Never fall asleep while melting wax in a double boiler. I've heard that a scorched pot stinks bad. Of course I wouldn't know. LOL
  21. Sorry about your co-worker but you shouldn't feel like it is your fault. She should have confirmed with the promoter how many jewelry makers would be admitted. I've noticed way too many jewelry tables at all but one show so far this yr. And she should of attended a few shows to check out pricing and what people were buying. It was very rude of her not to even stop by to speak to you. You can only help new folks so much. They have to be willing to learn the ropes themselves. The 1st yr I did shows I was thrilled to cover the fees. It is a learning experience. I feel folks need to see you at a few shows to feel comfortable buying from you. Now I have people seeking me out. Glad you had a good show. Sure feels good doesn't it.
  22. I got the mini casseroles from Michaels. The boat makes my life so much easier for the votives. I can load it up at home and just set it on the table. I only use the red table clothes for the holidays. It is kind of loud. I'll have to see if I can get some dusty rose colored ones.
  23. Buy some of Peak's Ocean. You can't go wrong with it.
  24. Awesome collection. Fantastic colors. I am always so inspired by pictures of your candles. And blue is my favorite color!
