    Those were some of my favorite pillars. Sorry to hear you can't duplicate the effort. I'm still years from even trying something this special.

    I haven't tried cottons. Just checked my wick inventory and don't even have a sample pack. Curious if cotton wicks mushroom like the zincs do. I've had some good luck with the zincs but the mushrooming drives me nuts.

    Your pillars are awesome. Is oakmoss the FO? Edited to add: Duh, it would help if I read all 3 pages before posting. Still learning how this new format works.

    Do you heat the wax up to 200 for a while? I usually heat up to 200 for 15 to 20 minutes or until the wax is clear then cool down to add color and FO. I think the thread on fingernailing said to heat the wax up to 215 or 220 for 15 to 30 minutes.

    Just remember that's 1/2 oz by wt. for a 3% load and 1 oz for a 6% load. Thank goodness I printed out the wick suggestions thread. Sorry I didn't print out the tips for newbies and FAQ.
