"Hinged lid jars?"... like a bail wire jar? IMO they seem a little top heavy if the lid doesn't come off. Not that they'd fall over by themselves when empty, but would add a few points in the 'possible safety catastrophe' equation. They do make a nice jar for basmati rice and sugar.

When I start buying containers in quantity, it'll be from a wholesale place. That is where I get samples as well (I like to make sure that I'm using/testing the same container). Economically,... buying wholesale, in large quantities, from someplace close will probably get you the best deal. Some companies have a number of warehouses in the US, which helps with shipping.

Look under your name. It has 'Wax Drip'. Mine just turned to 'Enigma'. Just an overactive imagination....

This really doesn't answer the question you posed. Nor am I a mass producer, but I have an idea... To prevent further fingerprints, maybe wear some nitrile or latex gloves while cleaning them. Some gloves are textured for extra grippy power. They'd be easier to discard than wiping/cleaning hands as needed.

You may have already seen this, but if not.... look at the thread "Waxes" here in 'general candlemaking discussion'.

Well, I guess it would really depend on what kind of wax. There are a great many places to buy wax. Paraffin, palm, gel, soy, parasoy, beeswax, bayberry, veg. blends and that Clear Candle Tech. stuff. (Sorry if I left anybody out!) I realize you're new, but what do you want this wax to do? What preferences do you have? What kind of candles or things are you going to make/do with it? This would help with answering your question. I also heard that some waxes are a snack for some quadripeds.

"...going to be a bestseller!" ?? Top, I agree that rolling in pieces would probably be easier and less painful! Just from the initial description of the jar, and Sarah's msg., I thought I'd try to explain nicely that it looks to be a battle between temp. and build-up. Sarah, try not to take it personally if your questions don't get answered immediately, or at all. I doubt it'd be personal, you seem like a nice person.

Is 2 3/4" the diameter of the wax surface? If so, that seems like it'd be quite the wicking feat! I'm not familiar with that jar. I doubt that I could help you in this dept.. Maybe if you showed a pic. or link of the jar, it would help.

In regards to cheap jar, you can just fill the desired 8-10oz. jar halfway with the wax (for testing). Or, one-third. During wick testing, this would also show how the wick burns closer to the bottom of the jar (too hot, tunneling, etc.).

Than, let's say,... a nap? Probably not. I absolutely love a good nap! I'll assume that you meant paraffin. Everyone has a different opinion and priorities for their wax/candles. Myself, I use soy. I'm thinking of ordering some parasoy in the future. And eventually finding a nice paraffin candle from someone on the board to try out. Have you tried closer suppliers?

Hmmm.... live in OK? Just don't get me started on an OU rant! A scale would would be quite beneficial here. Although I don't endorse/encourage WMart, one can be picked up cheaply there (kitchen utensil section). Measurement consistentcy is easier that way. Well... there is a sticky at the top of this veg. section. Just keep in mind that there are a number of waxes, individual techniques, additives, etc. involved. Although we both live in similar weather (I think), and use EL,... Individual results can differ. For example, I use a candlemaking mantra to encourage good results.

You're not doing anything wrong, you're new, and you're testing.. and testing is good. Although those first wicks didn't work for you, now you know how too small of a wick burns. If you are testing each of those candles (same size container) with different scents (and probably dyes), and different waxes, you will most likely get different results from each of them. When trying to get advice here, it helps to have what components you used to make the candle, as well as how you made the candle (temps, etc.). Welcome to CT! Good luck! There was a post in another thread about these. Could you or someone please explain this to me? Is this kinda like the 'jumbo' votives, which are just candles in a tumbler. Meaning... tealight cups? Mini 'poured' votives? :confused: (In plastic cups, not metal.) Beth, I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything... I just don't get it.

I could be wrong, but I think that is where KMommy has been getting them from: Moonglow. (Not trying to be snitty about it!) Just wrote b/c the abbr./supplier list doesn't have them listed.

Hmmmm.... I've wondered how well those burn. Whenever I see one though, I keep thinking that there should be some free sample of cookie or cake mix, or something! Nice to read a review of it here.

Welcome to CT Brian! I use EL (Enchanted-Lites), and go to that board at times to find specifics on my wax. But, I also find a lot of information here on general characteristics of the type of wax I'm using (soy). I haven't seen very many posts on Wix Wax here, but maybe with enough general information, you can get it to work for you. Good Luck!

You might check out wicksunlimited.com. I haven't ordered anything from them, yet. I'm pretty sure I saw the A&P wick and a high temp. veg. coating available. Sorry if I remembered wrong! HTH!
