  1. I don't know that it's a safety issue. It's just a messy issue. Unless you're using a open flame, I can't imagine even straight FO without a carrier would be dangerous.
  2. I wouldn't sent her shit. Why are you letting this nutjob drive you crazy? Write her off. Not a single bit of this makes a lick of sense to me.
  3. Wow. This is an ancient thread. Applewood Orchard from.........I can't remember the name of the business but the supplier's name was Lynn. She went out of business several years ago. It was a wonderful, just simply divine scent, but I only had one customer who loved it like I loved it. Usually if I love a scent I can push it off on people. Not so with Applewood Orchard. Ohhhhh, I wish I had some right now.
  4. 1. It is never a good idea to share your marketing ideas and tips with a 'prospective crafter' you don't know. This is true x 2 when talking about costs and sales. How incredibly rude to even ask! 2. It is never a good idea to let someone else make you feel bad about something you enjoy.
  5. 12-18%? Most wax won't even hold that much oil. I agree about the oz per pound, though. I'm convinced a lot of people think their candles are better than they really are. With very little deviation, I've used 8% on candles with wicks and 9% on wickless and tarts.
  6. Still here, lol. I do love Tony's DB, though. As much as Patch. Actually one of my favorite blends of all time (and customers have loved it) was Sweetcakes B&BW Chocolate Amber and Taylored's Coffee, 50/50. You have no idea how good it is.
  7. I used HTP when I used 6006. Assuming the 3.1" tin is an 8 oz, I would start with 2 HTP 41s. It will depend entirely on the fragrance oil, but 2 HTP 41s is a good starting point.
  8. Looks like 2 other people beat me saying I love the big pictures. I immediately click off sites if I can't see the pictures. Looks good. I love the Soap Envy mold you use.
  9. Unless you want messy ladles and wax dribbing all over creation, definitely get a Presto WITH spigot.
  10. He is just too cute. Bet you could sell them.
  11. I hope I'm seeing the right pictures. I had to click the 'description' link. 1. patchouli. 2. Tony's Goddess. Or patchouli. I see patchouli everywhere.
  12. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. You're really making me want to figure out how to make purses. I've been toying with the idea of making padded Kindle holders using leftover pieces of batting. Have you ever done something like that? This is a wonderful collection you've made. I love the idea of the 3 matching pieces. Great job!
  13. I never had luck with tall jars like that. They chimneyed on me. Like Holly said, the neck is too small. You won't get enough air to keep the thing burning.
  14. I agree the baking pan is a total waste of time and product. I'm an advocate of testing the exact product you will be making/selling in the exact same proportions; i.e., if you're going to end up with an 8 oz mason poured to 6 ounces, that's what you should test. Too much FO can cause the wick to fizzle. It can also create pockets of oil or weeping within the wax. 7% certainly shouldn't do that, though. In fact, the difference in 6% and 7% should be minimal. It's when you get close to the maximum FO the wax will hold (or more) that you run into real trouble. If you're seeing a smaller mp with higher FO load, just increase the wick size and see if that takes care of it. You might have to switch back and forth between not just wick sizes but wick types, too. For example, if an HTP 52 doesn't give you what you want, try a CD 6.
  15. Wow! I don't know, but keep us posted. I'm assuming your site is still up. Is it customer service that you can't get ahold of? If you need to bail, you know who I recommend: Designer 218.
  16. It's not so much that 'eth' sucks out the scent as much as it allows it to leach out. Years ago I saw an excellent way to remember, and I'm paraphrasing: Polypro: Your products are 'pro'fessional; hence, use 'pro' bags.
  17. I'm pretty sure nobody said anything about turning off warmers.
  18. It would be cute beyond belief, but don't wait on me. I've never made a purse in my life and probably won't start anytime soon. A hat, a scarf, and a purse. I'm fixated on the hat thing. lol.
  19. lol. It's either blow the things out or call the fire department. It has nothing to do with the scent and everything to do with being against the law.
  20. you would just use 2 skeins, or keep right on knitting until you got it to the length you wanted. You wouldn't make 2 and sew them together. You would just keep on knitting. Speaking of which, the Sashay video guy said his Red Heart scarf came out about a foot longer than the Starbella. Well........my Sashay scarf came out about a foot SHORTER than my first Starbella. My first Starbella came out to about 60".
  21. Oh, SHAME ON YOU!!!!! I looked all over creation for mannequin heads with shoulders to use to display my scarves, but either the mannequins or the shipping was out of my budget. Then I came across this on Ebay, waited 'til the last second, and sniped the thing. I can't wait to get it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120927111323&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
