I don't so much think they smell the same, but Rapture from Soap 'n Candles (Angie) was powerful strong, deep, and perfumy, much like Goddess. Oh, how I loved that Rapture.

I've tried a lot of Dragon's Blood and the richest one with the most depth, by far, is Southern Garden. Southern Soapers' is nice but not quite there.

What on earth are you talking about? There is no argument here on soy vs paraffin. That's not what this thread is about. You seem to be imagining something. And yeah, Chris, if I made beeswax candles, I would be proud of it and yes, consumers definitely know beeswax. If that's what they want, they want it to be the real thing. I believe the same is probably true of soy, or at least it was in the past when soy was all the rage. Even when I used soy, I only used straight soy for a short time. When I went to a blend, I promoted them as a blend, not just soy. To the OP, sure it's safe to say 'parasoy', but your average consumer won't have the vaguest idea what that is.

I've occasionally had people ask me what kind of wax I use. I tell them it's my own blend. I say it in a way that does not encourage further questions. If they persist, I tell them I make no attempt to carry formulas around in my head and all my records are at home on my computer. 99.99% of the people who ask those type of questions wouldn't have a clue what the answer meant. That other tiny percent is another candlemaker being nosy, and my trade secrets are none of their business.

I always got mine from Heartfelt, who is now oob. I've seen them on Ebay. Well worth it. I honestly can't imagine having to spoon/ladle melted wax. Prestos with spigot are worth it at any price, imo. Drain melted wax from your Presto into a pour pot, and add fragrance to the pour pot. Same with dye if you dye your candles. I have never mixed fragrance or dye into the wax in the Presto.

Hmmm. I might be blind. I didn't see it. I do see a prebuy for Dragon's Blood and Green Tweed. That is the BEST Dragon's Blood ever. Far superior to others. And Green Tweed is fantastic if you're looking for a great men's type scent. But I sure don't see Goddess. Do you have a link? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Links are always nice (and should be required).

Well, imo, if someone wants you to do an open house and wants to buy, there's really no question, other than yes, do it or no, don't do it. If you give stuff away now, or sell it cheap, you'll never convince those people to buy once you've changed your mind or business plan. It's no different than craft shows. Committing to a full-fledged business shouldn't be part of the question. It's a 1-time event. Do the open house, tell everybody you know to come and bring a friend, have a little contest for a freebie (guess the scent, or something fun and easy), but sell everything else at your cost x 2 or 3, and have fun. It's an easy way to recoup your costs and gives you money to move forward.

I'm trying to figure out what the question is. An open house is a sales event. If anything, I would raise my prices. My family doesn't get a discount, nor do my friends. Some of my long time heavy buyers do if they buy in quantity, but it's not much. Just enough to make them think they're special. That said, I may give stuff away, just because. But for a sales venue, people pay. I don't care who they are. If they want wholesale prices, they can get a tax number and set up shop, just like everybody else.

I'm betting it's not an error. Costs have gone through the roof. It was in the neighborhood of $30 from OM. I don't want to go through years old records, but I know it was one of the more expensive oils I had ever used. I always waited until OM had free shipping or some special going, then stocked up. I am not interested if it's going to be over $50. No oil is that good.

Not to defend BC, but tracking numbers mean nothing re shipping. It merely means a label is printed or that an order is in the system. It could still be days before an order is shipped.
