  1. Just wondering.... what did you use to stick the wick tabs to the bottom?
  2. I use EL classic container. I like it, from what I can tell it seems good all around. .... but this being said from someone who has made candles for less then a year and has only tried this one wax. All around though it seems to do well with my FO, color etc, etc. so I guess I figure why change (plus Im just getting to know this wax, I would hate to cheat on it now and go with another LOL )
  3. That was the exact thread I was looking for ---- thank you --- out of curiousity what did you type in to find it??? I thought I tried everything. Thanks again
  4. Anyone with suggestions... I know I have read posts on here about how people clean the outside of the containers before selling the candles. I cant find it in the search... maybe I'm not looking in the right spot?
  5. Thank you all for the input --- I think I will start NOT heating them and see if I see a drastic diff. in appearence. Now that I have to pour more then a couple at a time heating the jars is a PAIN !!!!!!!
  6. I havent been making candles that long (less then 1 yr) but so far I have found the CD line to work alright for both jars I use with that wax. Im a realllllllll perfectionist so I dont know if anyone makes what I would call a perfect wick. What a dream it would be to never have to trim a wick or see a mushroom
  7. I may be waaaaaaaay off here but would a thick pc of rafia work. Cost wise you couldnt get anything cheaper.
  8. I would most surely say - TOSS IT... and buy a presto pot--- it never happens then Be glad your only wasting 2-3 bucks in wax - thats not a to expensive of an oooops.
  9. Checked out the link.... I've read that site a million times (always looking for help on something it seems, haha), guess I just took my suppliers word over the site. I think it was suggested for the color as well maybe ???? would that make sense.... I just remember the 1st time I took her a finished candle she said, you didnt heat the jar did you? I use dye crystals from CC. Thanks for your input... Im at a toss up on which to do, not heating would save time and heat LOL.
  10. Hello everyone,,,, it seems like a long time since I've had time to post or even read this site My household got kinda crazy for the past month due to a death in the family... But anyway ..... Quick ? I am doing lots (200 candles) of pouring this weekend... my first big pour for 2 shops. I have always heated my jars a tad in the oven just before pouring due to my suppliers instructions. Do you still need to heat them when your house is like 80-90 degrees and humid as pooo. Just wondering Glad to be back
  11. To think I re-wicked a jar 3 times today just trying to get it centered lol.... wicks like that make us all feel gooooood. Thanks for sharing, nice to know even the big guys mess up (and there probably not as afraid as we are of getting sued).
  12. AWESOME Congrats.... I checked out the entire website, lots of stores--- that is soooo cooool. Hope its lots of business for you- its great a store with so many locations - selling product of what started off being an at home business. Ten times over congrats.
  13. A brand of jars they make all sorts of containers some of which are great for candle making... a little high priced but worth it in my opinion for the quality. www.anchorhocking.com As far as I know you cant order from them direct unless its a huge order. www.candlecocoon.com orders them and you can "pre-buy" anything from the anchorhocking site through candle cocoon. Hope that helps :0
  14. I licensed the name a couple of years ago (partner dropped out and its been on hold till I can go it alone) ... my goal is to someday open a floral shop/cafe with of course my candle line in it (thats why I used the name -- thinking of the bigger picture - dreamer) and some scrapbooking area/crafts. Like the one in your area when I did my business plan years ago it to had a very serene peaceful feel to the place - somewhere you'd want to go to relax, drink some yummy coffee and maybe use some scrapbook punches to fiddle. Now with a growing family I have decided the above will need to wait about 5-10 years and in the meantime I will perect and hopefully make $ with my candles. For all of you that thought I was upset (? maybe its how I read your posts) .... nope, I was actually honored/shocked that the shop owner asked me if I would allow her in, with out my OK the other candler wouldnt have been allowed in the shop. To me thats crazy!!! the other shop Im getting in when I 1st was ok'd to be in they had 0 soy candles but alot of paraffin. In the 6 months it has taken me to perfect (or try) at least 10-15 venders have either switched to soy or been allowed in and Im still ok with going in there (another shop I have the BEST location in Thanks for all your words of wisdom I enjoy reading what others have to say.
  15. I'm no wick expert (or candle expert at that) but are teh HTP and CD wicks of = size (are they comparable)... I was always told the CD and HTPs are the same wick only made in different countries. You'd think then they'd be the same huh. :undecided
  16. I'm hoping the world (shop) is just big enough for the both of us and we can both prosper. Also with that theory of booting out the slower/less selling person.... I'm new at this that person could be me so I say lets keep us both, lol
  17. My husband says I shouldn't use my do onto others as you'd want onto yourself motto in business like I did today.... so I have to ask..... I have been trying to get ready to get a booth in a nearish by newer craft store. My mom has been a crafter for yeeaaars and recently entered this shop. When she got in she mentioned my candles (though I was no were near ready) and they were reallll excited as they have 0 soy candles in the shop and said they'd wait till I was ready - saving a booth for me. So long story short.... its been months, I am ready but getting in a different shop this month so time is short. The owner of the said craft store called today... told me she had the perfect booth for me - right in the front middle of the store. She was calling to ask me (this is the kicker) if she could allow another soy candle maker in the shop. She said she has been trying to put the other candle maker off for a couple months now but wondered if I would mind (assuming I would say NO COMPETITIORS). She gave me the other candlers website and asked me to check it out to see if I thouhgt it would be ok or no. SO I checked it .... funny and small world, of course since were both from the same area we both use the same scents (neither of us change the names) and same supplier. However we dont make the same size containers and she makes tarts/votives - I do not. Totally different look as well. I told her competition is healthy and of course she could let her in. Negative for the other candler is as I was first I get the front booth and they'll be in back. Store owner will be telling other candler we use the same FO's so its her choice. Sorry that got so long.
  18. I had to ask.. what temp do you all pour CC's oil into the wax? For numerous reasons I am having a hard time with scent throw and I KNOW IT IS NOT HER OIL Again thanks for hijacking your post just say lots of people in 1 spot who use CC oils and had to ask. PLEASE HELP !! O and I use EL classic container soy. Thank you
  19. Dont know nothing bout nothing bout that, but those candles are coool - my husband wanted me to do something like that but with a skull for the local music shop/and for his (past) band at shows. Now that I started making candles H**L no I wont even try dipping and carving and stuff and stuff. I'll stick with container candles for now thanks. Just had to say I think that would be fun to make (even in happy oranges and yellows) and they look awesome ---- GOOD LUCK :smiley2:
  20. Thank you all -- off to try again. Here I thought I was almost done then --- back to the drawing board. At least I have a place to start with each FO on the wicking. I will re-make and test them all heating and adding FO higher - hoping the same wick size works with this change. THANKS AGAIN GUYS YOUR ALL SOOOOOOOO HELPFUL
  21. My 1/2penny. I am not familar with other suppliers as so far I ONLY have used CC for all of my supplies (lucky enough to live close by) but.... I love her scents and supplies and she is a very well informed, knowlegeable seller. Maybe they all are but are the cheaper pour pots made in America - cause hers are (not that that justifies price all the time but it is a perk IMO). If I had the choice to pay a little higher and get something natural and/or made in America I would take it and pay the 2bucks. Again IMO
  22. Per CC advice most of her scents only need 12 hours of cure time, earthy scents 24-48. I always let mine cure 3 days no less so I dont think its the curing thats doing it. From what it sounds like maybe its the adding the FO at 155-160. From all your advice it sounds you all add at 175-180 which I dont even get my wax up that high (165-170). SO maybe I should try.......... taking it to 175-180 and adding color/UV AND FO all right away ??????????????? Please help me.
  23. Any of you use my same combination or just want to lend your input.... I use EL classic container wax and so far only FO from Candle Cocoon. I finally have succefully wicked 12 candles BUT !!! I swear the hot scent throw when burning it waaaaaaaaaaay lacking. I heat wax to 165-170, add color and UV stuff right away and then FO at 155-160. Stir, let sit, stir some more, let sit, and do this until I pour at 145. I only use her signature scents not the ones she has recieved from other suppliers. I wanted a knock your socks off scent throw (even if it was overwhelming) so I have been using anywhere from .8oz/lb to 1oz/lb depending on the FO. Maybe its the pregnancy thats making my nose not work but my husband cant smell them either and though I have burned probably 100-200 candles in the past 6 months I dont think its that we are immune to the scents. Seriously frutstrated I am!!!! Please help
  24. l like the name seems to fit what you say your selling.
