  1. I'll keep you all posted on how this works but after exhausting all of your time (THANK YOU ALL) and my own I have decided I will keep plugging along with these labels--- maybe someday I'll get em. BUT --- for all of you who have the same problem. I am going to buy full size sheet label paper photo gloss inkjet with the sticky back -just like the labels but with no precut circles on them. Then I will use a scrapbooking punch (you can get them in all different sizes, my moms business is in scrapbooking and other crafts) to cut them out OOOO I hope it works. Sounds good in theory. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN
  2. Gotcha - thats what I thought you meant that was actually my next best solution but on one of the sizes of label they lie so close together it wouldnt be possible. plus some of them are wayyyyyyyyyy off so right now that wouldnt work --- but were gonna fix this or else !!!!!!!!! LOL
  3. I was wondering the same thing LOL but figured since you have all been so helpful I wouldnt ask another ?
  4. I just had to say quick how much I cant believe the niceness that goes along with this board. It really is helpful and kind hearted to see so many people all trying to help each other out. YOU ARE ALL GREAAAAAAAAAAAAT:yay: Thank you again and again for the help with the many ?s I have posted. As I learn I am trying to help others as well.
  5. is it ok to try to resell these labels on here - I think I have done out thunk this whole thing and give up on the labels. Wish I had known how hard it would be to use a label paper. UGGGHHHH.
  6. I just made a template but it wont let me paste my label design into the template. When you say you use full sheets and then cut them yourself do you mean you use sticky backed paper then just cut the labels to whatever size you want after printing. Do you use scissors?
  7. Avery doesnt make 2" labels, is there a way I can customize it in Avery to make that possible?
  8. Does anyone use the round labels from planet label. I have the 2 and 2.5 in labels and can not get them to print right. No matter what even if one row or column is right the others are not. I have used the PDF and microsoft word template. None of them work please anyone help

  10. I havent started selling yet but am supposed to be the 1st of next month. I have had 4 shops patiently waiting for my candles for about 3 months. I have been making candles for about 6 months. I have been pushing the shops off every month they ask as I dont want to sell something I am not comfortable with. I am a stay at home mom for the most part (odd jobs a couple days a week) so I have been trying real hard to concentrate on candles. This month was going to be my - get it all together and finalized month, but....... now with an almost 3 year old and finding out Im prego my attitude has went back to wondering if my candles are good enough to sell. Safety I would say is the biggest thing to me when getting ready to sell. I have test burned way over 100 candles so far and am confident they are safe if burned correctly - Im just worried about those people that marathon burn the candle from start to finish with out trimming one wick.
  11. Peony white tea from www.candlecocoon.com I started candle making with only 12 FOs, this was 1 of the ones I picked, I like it.
  12. Thanks again for the input. I do let them cure 3 days which is what the supplier states is the max needed for all her scents (she says 1 day for most FOs but 2-3 days for the earthy FOs). I put in an email to her as well and will be seeing her soon for an order pick up. As far as the CC scent..... I like it, I am new to candle making so I cant say if its the best one out there. I will say I dont think even if it were skin safe (havent even checked) I would wear it. It has a little off scent from what I normally buy for wearing, like many of her FOs - it has depth and seems to be blended with something. I find just the straighter patch from hippie/state street shops is my preferred scent over CC's. I figure I'll see if it grows on me, in the bottle I like the scent but since I havent smelled the hot throw I cant tell if it is a keeper, most FOs seem to smell a tad different bottle/burning. With being a patch lover it would be nice to be head over heals for it (it would also be nice if I could get hot throw even for personal use, what good is candle making if you cant make what you like for your own home LOL).
  13. Bummer - but I guess to be expected, not all can work with everything. Patch is my fav. FO its also my perfum (not from CC however). It burns fine (wicked up a ways) just no scent. Maybe I'll try once more with it just to see, already bought it might as well use it up. Thanks for the post
  14. Just wondering if anyone has any input on this FO. Currently I use only CC FO's. I have heard from supplier and posts on this site that her FO's are really strong. However, I am not having such luck with the patch. Currently I have 4 8oz metro jars burning of it with 2 different wicks. They are burning in a rather large room with a tall ceiling but still - you would think with 4 burning you would be overwhelmed with scent. Yesterday a friend stopped by and actually asked if the candle was unscented ---- uggggghhh. I am currently using 1oz/lb of wax (EL soy). I just dont get it. with how powerful I hear her FOs are I would think many of them would be just knock you off your feet. The lowest I go on any of them is .8/lb. Most are at .9/lb. I've read many people that only use .6/lb. I must be doing something wrong :embarasse . Do real tall ceilings make that much of difference. I would guess they are 10-12 foot tall floor to ceiling (100+ year old victorian house). Any input would be awesome. Can you put to much FO in --- to much meaning by adding to much they would be weaker in scent then adding a smaller amount? Thanks to you all :smiley2:
  15. Well I figured out what I did at least. Forgot to push the tare button. After taking into account for FO it is off the weight of the pour pot ---- oops. I am remelting them right now and then adding the extra wax (and color oops again) then I'll repour and see what happens. The smallest oversite with candles means the worls LOL Thanks everyone for the input. I guess I cant complain to much its my first real ooopps since I started making candles. Im sure there will be many more. Thanks again you are all great
  16. If I remelt the wax, weigh it melted in the pour pot and add as much as needed to = 2 lbs that should be good huh. I'm sure this is a dumb ? but will the wax weigh the same liquid as solid.
  17. I just had a major brain ooops,,, made a DBL batch (2lbs, 4 8oz jars) of patchoulli (from CC). I added 2oz of FO, and what I later realized was I added only enough color and UV for 1lb of wax. AND THE BIGGY... meant to put in 2 lbs of wax, poured jars, and normally I have some left over since there not quite 8oz filled. This time I couldnt even fill all the jars. So... either I didnt push the tare button or just only used 1lb of wax. ???? Can I burn a candle with that much FO/wax- whats the point, its not accurate for test burning anyway. At worst case thats 2oz FO to 1lb wax. Any input on what to do... should I remelt it and add more wax. then repour? :undecided
  18. For me its on the contrary. With all of my jars I have to burn to the bottom-kill it dead to make a decision on a wick (when I'm close). It seems all my candles pick up the nasty hang up in the last few burns. If I didnt burn them completely I'd have flame throwers for wicks. I've been soooo mad at wicks before as far as hang up and in the end-perfectly clean jar
  19. Just wondering what other people do when this happens. I was just pouring some testers and in 2 different FO 1 wick pulled out the tab when pulling it taught. I reallinged it as best as possible using my fingers and a skewer. It now rests just inside the v of the crink in the tab pretty much flush with the bottom of the jar. I made a note of it so I remember when burning it. If I wasnt testing I would have back up pre-wicked jars on hand but since I didnt thought this would be the best solution instead of re-wicking another jar. Just thought Id see what others do:)
  20. Not even just the heat CAN be a problem. Once you sell the jars you have no idea how they are being treated. You could be filling a jar that have been bounced around someones house/storage area and though it doesnt show cracking its weakend by the abuse. When I first made my plan for business I was planning on using the natural soy, the naturalness of it triggered me to think recycle (plus the jars are costly and I am very into recycle reuse) but after I looked into it even if the income from it would be nice I dont have insurance and dont want anything that even MAY be a problem if I can help it.
  21. I've never used the qoute thing before so sorry if I did it wrong. Bev this is exactly what I do only I guess I ended up with 2 cases of each for testing. As far as the testing/making go.... I am a stay at home mom and do candles (newest endeavor), run a small (me only) cleaning business, take care of about 20 animals (our pets, we have an indoor domestic farm I tell ya, all the bad ones to buy to, ... HEALTH ISSUES!!! pugs and persians, bunnny, frog, and I guess my house is very fertile --- my 3yr old daughters fish and parakeets will nottt stop breeding-ughhhhhh. Anyway, candles are my newest passion and hopefully someday a $ maker as well, I have always been a candle freak. I've been trying to concentrate on them the most, I make and burn about 24-30 candles at a time, we have a huge old house so I can put 1 FO in each room to test for wicks and then I can kind of tell where Im at with the FO. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING ----- :grin2:
  22. Not to be to hard on myself but..... I just went to make 36 candles in containers for testing. While getting my wicks together I realized wait .... I currently have 26 test burning, add 36 - thats alot of jars I am wasting!!! I dont want to resell the jars I have test burned in so I guess I'll have an early to bed night and call it a day. Might as well quit while Im ahead wasting only 26 instead of many more. How many jars do you use on average for test burning of each jar type? Gotta love oversite----and hindsite LOL. Guess I need to order more jars before I start selling. :embarasse
  23. Yep a thank you from me as well You have all been warm, inviting and most helpful.
  24. I know without being in my house and seeing these burn no one can help but I had to vent. I've been making candles in 4oz Emma jars (2" square) and 8oz metro jars (2.5in round). I checked both for base wick. Found Emmas to be a CD8 and metros a CD14. Right off the bat -- shouldnt there only be a 2 size difference since its a 1/2 in size difference. anyway. I made and burned and burned and made. Thought I was soooooo close to getting it down. Well to the point. I remade some of the FO cause I just still wasnt satisfied with the results on a couple. (Emma jars) The 2 I have burning now, orange clove and vanilla voodoo. I started with a CD 6 for VV as per directed 1 size down from base wick. Burned all right but with a small flame and a tiny bit of hang up. So I remade them with CD6 and 8. There almost done burning and the 6 has enough stuck to the sides Im not happy with it again, the 8 seems a little hot to the touch. - how hot should the glass get when burning at the bottom??? Feels hotter then the 6 tell ya that. Then the orange clove, started with a CD10- seemed kinda hot, tried CD 10 and 8. 10 already put self out (decent burn time though) 1 of the 8s is perfect butttttt the other has some wax on the sides I wouldnt like to see if selling. Well I'll quit my rant for now Then long story short for the metros - my only guess is the butterfly chunks I lay (after heat gunning so the set in a bit) in the top of the wax threw the burns off - they were a little thick probably somewhere between a 1/2 and 1/4 in now they are between 1/8 to 1/4. A couple burned fine in both jars. Some though 1 jar is great other poor, and others both jars are pooo. My only guess is to start over - make all the FO in the same wick I had figured to be correct then go up or down from there. I feel bad I have 4 shops that I ended up in just out of word of mouth. They have both been waiting soooooo patiently and even covering the booth fees till I am ready. I told them I WOULDNT put anything in there until I was fully satisfied with the results. Now it looks like I have to let them down another month :embarasse Anyone that took the time to read this book and has some input feel free to share. Otherwise pretty much just put this out there for some newbies to get a feel for how this is not a cut and dry craft. and thank you all --- you have all been so great with helping.
  25. Very nice the entire package. She does great work - Im very satisfied.
