  1. dumb question - if i'm trying to weigh liquid, i can use grams to measure mililiters, right?
  2. CranberryGirl - my explanation was in no way an assault on you, i was just trying to show why i thought what I did about your idea. I hope you understand!
  3. are customers so turned off by a brown bar of soap? even if you tell them that ALL vanilla's are turned brown by some chemical reaction?
  4. it takes a long time to create a useful database, esp. when you have many different people entering reviews. Creating a new one here would just take away from the reviews people enter in the existing DB's. One of them is fairly new, anyway, which means there would be further dilution as people start to fill up THAT site with reviews. Not that it isn't a good idea, but, how hard is it to go to a different site to find them?
  5. dang. Well, if you google my company name, that's great. I'm #1, although it's actually a RSS feed of my blog on another site. if people don't know the company name, i'm virtually un-findable. :/
  6. how cool! I'm still so nervous about approaching people to carry my product, even though I have had such good reactions from the ones who tested it! I guess I need to get the heck over it!
  7. there are already at least 2 websites with that EXACT thing. SCENT REVIEW RESOURCES Fragrance Finder Grand Scentral Scent Forum
  8. I'm not really in a position to pay for Google Ads or anything like that, but how are some ways to improve google ranking for your sites?
  9. How hard was it for you/others to get your product into Hospital Gift Shops? It sounds like a good place for my stuff. And there's one literally a stone's throw from my apartment. Not that I'm throwing rocks at the hospital, mind you . . . !
  10. If your name is Veronica, why not something like Veronica's Votives and Candles (candle art, candle whatever you make). I love alliteration!
  11. What are some emulsifiers I could use if I wanted to mix FO, alcohol, and water? or should I just make a weak perfume (usually i use 1/3 FO and 2/3 alcohol) and bottle it up?
  12. I brought my line of six perfumes in, and was wearing a vanilla bean noel I'd made for myself. Wouldn't you know that was the one they want? Everyone said it smelled like a bakery.
  13. I just rec'd a sample of this in my last order. I can't describe it at all...it's maybe more of a fall or winter scent...kind of an herbal-fruit with spicy undertones (cinnamon?). would smell divine in soap, it's very clean. may or may not be very popular, though. I do give it points for complexity. Not perfumy, not floral, not foody...I don't smell all the notes that Scentworks lists, but it's nice.
  14. how long does it take for rankings to rise, anyway? I don't understand Google's algorithm very well, and it seems hopeless to even try!
  15. I have looked at a lot of websites and not seen them, but i think Cool Water smells similar or better than most Axe. CK dupes might come close too (esp. One and Be).
  16. I don't even make candles! Just perfumes, ATM. may diversify once the business starts to grow. Probably will still just stick with tarts, which I can't really screw up, UNLIKE candles.
  17. http://www.richmondcraftmafia.com/spring.htm it looks like a very hip and fun show. Right up my alley! Not sure if they've done it before, but it could be a good way to get out there. What do y'all think? is $40 a good price for a booth? I think everyday booth prices at the market are like $5 or $10, but hopefully this would draw a much bigger, targeted crowd.
  18. That should be very manageable. don't know what your background color is, but if it's solid, a little black box over whatever you want to block out should be fine.
  19. Yeah, some of the prices seem WAY low, but then the jewelry seems overpriced (to me).
  20. it sure looks cheaper than fee*bay... definitely caters to a 'younger' crowd but I think I could get started there... what do you think?
  21. best idea yet. maybe add another zero in there, though. that ought to shut her right up.
  22. fix, how? just resizing and a bit of editing - in MS paint. can add text, do a lot of things actually. a little bit more color editing - Windows picture and fax viewer (right click and select "edit" if you need to do hardcore editing, probably you need photoshop. But it's not easy to learn. If you need to do this much editing, you probably need better pix to start with.
  23. my thought is some sort of stencil using fabric paint. You could even make your own with some cardboard (i use file folders).
  24. those bars do look good enough to eat. they'd be a great color combo for a raspberry lemonade, I think!
  25. you could always go to kinko's. I do some printing (color) at a local copy shop, if you live near a university, there's probably at least one. What's your product dimensions, BTW? I could suggest more if I knew how big.
