Currently scent-works and daystar are my favorite suppliers for FO's to use in B&B (no soap, no candles)...who should I try? I realize that you can use FO's for candles in B&B, and vice versa, but things that won't work in CP soap or candles will work in B&B, usually.
a partial answer to your question - I am looking for a great pomegranate too. I currently have TC and while it's okay, it's not awesome. I want something similar to Henri Bendel pomegranate. So, don't waste your time on TC.
I have tried Daystar's only, and it is very good. I'm not intimately familiar with the original, but this smells just like it as far as I can remember.
meatballer works better in my experience, but I actually like making smaller bath bombs in candy/soap molds (I have leaf and heart shaped ones) and you throw in two or three, instead of one big bomb.
Clean for Men, Wood Coffee, Black Vetyver Cafe, Bourbon Vanilla, Green Irish Tweed. I make Reed Diffusers and men tend to go for Ocean instead of AFC or Vanilla Orange. But then, I know men who like Pink Sugar candles, so....
They're definitely different enough to carry both - however, 9/10 customers who like "lemon" scents are going to choose "THE CURD" over lemon verbena, or anything else. It would be nice to blend with other FO's, though, too.
None of my regular FO suppliers seem to have Euphoria, and the Fragrance Finder doesn't list anyone having it - tis probably too new and hasn't been updated since January. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Just wanted to update that I had my 3/3/3 mix reed diffuser at my show last weekend...it was an outdoor show and I still had people coming over from 20 feet or more away saying "what smells so good"??? Once I explained it to them they thought it was very cool and interesting. Guys seem to enjoy the "science" behind it and thought it was neater than a candle. Doesn't hurt that I offer "Ocean" as one of my scents although Taylored's Orange Vanilla 20 was my best seller (and is also my personal favorite, it's not too foody but is very comforting and not overwhelming).
so I did some research - apparently they use "food grade paraffin" which may account for the soft/smooshyness. It also may account for why my cat tried to eat some of it. I'm glad he didn't get sick. I just wish I could find someone around here who made candles as good or better! Hook me up!
what makes them so great? Is it the double wicks? I never had a problem with mine burning out, it did start to smoke a bit after it got really low. but, god, they are good. I just hate the way they're distributed and only get them from my mom as gifts. Not sure who sells them to her.
I'm currently using a blend of 33/33/33 FO/DPG/PA. hexylene glycol appears to be another type of alcohol, so that's probably why it is more viscous than DPG. I'm having good luck with this blend, though, so I'll stick with it until i run out of DPG, at least. Anybody else tried the hex glycol yet?
all these are good suggestions. I like almond oil b/c of the scent and how it blends with most FO/EO's. Grapeseed is expensive but nice, too. Olive is a good base b/c it's cheap and available.
