  1. That's good wax. My formula for 6006 is 85% mixed with 15% pure soy for a 50-50 parasoy. Pour at 185 degrees into clean, room temp jars and don't cover. I get good throw out of 6-7% load and use cd wicks. Good luck.
  2. Try Tinsel for the blue from NG and Hansel and Gretel's House for the purple and Christmas Cabin for the green. All three of those fos from NG have been great sellers (I use a parasoy) in the past. HTH Steve
  3. I don't recommend round or square containers. Go with a straight sided flint jar. Jelly jars can be tapered (large at top smaller at bottom)which makes wicking a headache. Straight sided jars are easy to wick because the dimensions are the same from top to bottom. I love the look of the square Mason but hate the hang-up and the no can use label because of the raised lettering on the side. Hope that helps. Steve
  4. I keep my pour pot on a double eye electric console on my bench, with a temp probe (the oven kind with the long silver wire that goes to a monitor) to make sure things don't get too hot. Large batches are much easier to handle than lots of small orders. You need a really good set of digital scales. Scales and heat guns are two of your best friends. I know people can eyeball but its better for me to weigh out my wax and fo with a little to spare. You just can't afford to have leftover wax and besides, after awhile you'll be drowning in the stuff.
  5. I use 3m Mounting Squares. Find them at wally world and cut each square in half and then six altogether per square. Peel off paper and stick on wick and then peel off the other side and mount inside your jar (I use the barrel of a meat thermometer to thread the wick through). Make sure the wick assembly is clean before using the squares. They don't come off and there's no waiting for it to dry, harden or cure. I use them as I need them and a box makes quite a few for a piece of change.
  6. The cutter is awesome! Very good hand craftsmanship and I cut a loaf in several different sizes without having to do anything but place the soap on the hash marks on the top. I did a jeweled soap and its very nice. No more cheese slicer-ever!
  7. Yes. I won't go into full production until summer. I have my base formula and decided on my packaging format based on mold size but intend to use this cutter for whatever size I might want for salt and shampoo bars.
  8. My cutter shipped today! This gives me complete control over size of bars I want.
  9. If the packaging was damaged and the wax was exposed or contaminated; take pics and report to the company. You might get another one in place of the damaged one. Otherwise, Ziplocs are fine.
  10. Just ordered that soap cutter and can hardly wait to put it to use! You can see it in action on YouTube.
  11. I mixed up a combination of Lust, Ancient Incense and Jungle (going to call it Superstition) that so far seems to be a pretty decent balance. The gardenia is still a strong element in the overall fragrance but not as in your face. I did a peacock swirl with bamboo charcoal, td, eggplant purple and a rose mica. It looks kind of like ghosts on the top swirl. I used the dividers like an idiot and so the swirl is hidden in the bar. Thought about cutting them into and selling as hand soaps but I think not. Steve
  12. Hey Scented, didn't see your post until now. Breath of God is very light. Just barely there, a clean fragrance but not much definition IMHO. It soaps beautifully with a little discoloration but no acceleration. Steve
  13. Customers didn't quite take to that fragrance, so I mix a little sweet pumpkin to take the ginger edge off. I like it better as a mixer with several fall fragrances, rather than a stand alone. HTH Steve
  14. Fragrance Buddy carries it and the reviews are good. Steve
  15. Ok, so you mix td with an oil and FCO? in a bullet bottle? and stick a couple of stainless steel nail polish mixing beads? I kinda think I know what you're doing but not completely sure. Would you break that down for me? Steve
  16. Autumn Nights is just the bomb! I hope customers like this, because it will get soaped and maybe even some candles made with it. I tried a sample of American Cream and was not impressed but maybe you can dress it up a bit.
  17. LOL, you poor child! I must say that FB seems to have a great track record for fos that behave in cp. There is a repeating pattern in their fragrances that falls into the perfumery approach but hopefully that will be good with customers. Let me know what you think (should have gotten some Let Them Eat Cake).
  18. Think of double wicking this way. One wick will cover one half of the melt pool area and the other wick should overlap while covering the other half of the melt pool area. I hate double wicking and the only container that requires multiple (3) wicks is the Libbey heart. Eventually, the wicks will create melt pools that will overlap each other to form the single melt pool on the surface of the container. Its just more expense and hassle that causes multiple headaches IMHO. If the container won't work with a single wick, I chunk it. HTH Steve
  19. I use a hand frother and it really works great. I blend a little of the oils and add the fo as well and then blend with the frother. I use the sb after adding the batter and it blends up real nice without over doing it. HTH Steve
  20. Update from week-end soaping. soaped FB Ancient Incense, wow, very nice and had plenty of swirl time. Autumn Nights is wonderful but accelerated on me, but maybe it was the cocoa butter, turned out very nice with a five color hanger swirl. Breath of God gets better but not stronger and my wife identified the strong note in Lust as Gardenia. Going to cut that in half due to strength but don't like it anyway. Used my Brambleberry 9 bar slab with silicone liner and loved the great gel I was able to get with it. I bought the mold from the maker and saved a few bucks, wish he had the silicone liner too. Bought the adjustable hanger tool from BB and its kinda neat, was able to use it on several different size molds. Ta ta. Steve
  21. The TD causes colors to become pastel. Only use it for your white and not in your colors. I've never had a mica affected by TD but have had them to morph (purple especially).
  22. That's a Lush dupe for Porridge. I'm guessing their version of oatmeal, milk and honey? I use AH/Re's OMH but let me know if you give it a go.
  23. Dead Sexy sticks nicely, not overpowering. Let Them Eat Cake is another nice one from Tokyo Milk. No problem with a or d in a 100% goat milk at 80-90 degrees.
