1. Glycerin is moisturizing to a point, but if to much is added it drys. Some people expereince the dryness from it more than others. Thanks Michelle
2. I am making a salt scrub which calls for aloe vera gel and glycerin, I didn't have the aloe so I added more glycerin which I thought was to drying. Is there anthing else that would be a good substitute or does anyone know where I can get it TIA Michelle
3. Ok somehow I got those in the wrong order, first is bath bomb, 2nd is bubbling bath bar, third is chocolate soap, lets see if I can get pumpkin soap and rose soap here
4. Here are two soaps I made from the end of a batch I already had and wanted to use up and make room for the new, so I took the chocoate and the pumpkin soap and cut into chunks and made my basic recipe of soap and made these chunk soaps. The pink with rose buds is a rose soap I had which did not turn out to good from a while ago so I cut up, remelted with a little water in microwave, added a little rose scent, remolded and then put buds on top. Keeping this for personal use. Third item is bubbling bath bars, just got this recipe from Ponte vedras website and trying it, scented in Lavender Vanilla, only put a few Lav buds in. Gong to test it with my son tomorrow. Next, is Cafe Cappuccino Bath Bombs, with yummy coffee grounds, smells good enough to drink, they sold well at last weekends show.
5. Thanks so much for the compliment on my site. I looked at yours several weeks ago and was very impressed in the direction you were taking it. I love the theme. Michelle
6. Here you go, I love looking as well Michelle www.thebodybarsoaps.com
7. My hubby may have located a chemical company that will sell us lye in bulk at a great price, they are getting back to us on Monday with pricing etc. They have pearls and flakes, does anyone have any knowledge on the difference as it pertains to soaping and which would be preferred. I am nervous about storing so much lye in my shop as it is connected to my house so if it is a good enough deal I will be sharing the price cut with anyone interested and doing flat rate shipping at 10# increments. I will post more info as I know more. Michelle
8. I use frosted bags from Nashville wraps, very classy but stil economical, you can even fold over punch holes in and tie some ribbon thru Elle
9. I think, and in my own experience selling the lotion bars, people love them because they are natural, don't take a preservative, they last longer than traditional lotion (mine last as long as 2 bottle of 4 oz lotion) and because they are loaded with skin loving ingredients to hit those extra dry spots (elbows, feet, cuticles etc). They continue to be one of my hottest sellers at show. I run a special for 3 of them and people scoop them up, I sold several hundred over the weekend. They also make UNIQUE gifts Most lotion bars start with beeswax and butters and oils plus fragrance and I use jojoba spheres for color I have no experience with tubes I use tins and sell them like they are going out of stock. There is usually at least one other soaper at the shows I do and they use tubes and complain that they don't sell HTH MIchelle
10. I got my soap form satinducky yesterday, forgot to take pic, had to use it right away. LOOOOOOOvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee it. It was scented in Angel Wings (which to me smelled like old fashioned cold cream) I could not quit smelling it last night after opening it. It was a soap made with lard, very smooth, hard bar. The lather was wonderful. Now if only I could get away with a lard soap in my area, everyone is around here always wants all vegetable. Thanks so much for the swap, it was fun and very simple to do with all my shows going on. Michelle
11. Maybe you are talking about Zumbar with the whole food butter. I used to use tins for the butters, but now only for the lotion bars, I like the look of the straight jars better, much classier look. I think the ones on you website look great, I get the smooth tops at MMS HTH Michelle
12. THey actually have a storefront you can shop in now and they also have storefront pick-up for internet orders Michelle
13. No, but I will be darn if I am making anything that smells like deer urine LOL MIchelle
14. Those are awesome, I can't believe I have never been on this site, that place is about 20 mins from me and I have never heard of it. I don't make candles, but they do have some fragrances I use that are B&B safe and they have some other supplies I might be able to use. Thanks for sharing that info Michelle
15. Sometimes a picture is worth a 1000 words
16. Thanks, I to tried to get on that link also and didn't know how to sign it. Let me know if they get back to you. I will be gone starting tomorrow for 3 days for a show so that would help a lot. Michelle
17. Maryann, I went and got the squirters from the Dollar tree for the adorable soaps you posted a couple weeks ago. They had a lot of stuff, and the bags I got had 6 fishies for $1. The little girl is to cute, I love her. The Dollar Tree can be quite and addiction for me as well. and I live around a lot of big stores. You just never know what you will find there. BTW, several websites are selling those little fishies for embeds and charging close to $5.00 for 4 of the squirters. What a rip off Michelle
18. no, the liquid is inside the plastic ball which had the snowman, then you embed the plastic ball in the globe, the soap part is them globe, you get the domed molds, pour clear soap in, then take the round globe and position it in the mold, then once it starts setting up you pour about a 1/4 inch of white soap. In the pic, the whole thing is glycerin soap except for the round plastic round embed Here is a link which shows them being made: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_home_accessories/article/0,1789,HGTV_3255_2216611,00.html HTH Michelle
19. i know, me to. I don't get it, if Life of the Party makes the kits why don't htey make refill globe? The balls are cute, but I really like the water in them. I emailed Kangaroo Blue to make sure the xmas ones didn't have it and they alreay emailed back saying they don't have water, just a snowman suspended in the ball. Can you believe they emailed be right back this late? MIchelle
20. Here you go. See how hte insert is not just a rubber ball with toy in it, it is actually a ball w/liquid and snow ect. (similar to the dolphin)
21. Well, you buy these molds that are shaped as globes and you use the balls as embeds. I love the dolphins but I need chrismas ones, the xmas ones ther are just balls with no liquid. I know someone sells them but I have searched everywhere. Live of the Party makes the molds but do not sell the embeds seperately. The even have a kit but there are only a few globe inserts in the kit. Michelle
22. Thanks, I remember now seeing them there a long time ago. I am going there now. Michelle
23. Ok, that is to stinking cute, whoever made the little soaps with the dolphins and other fishies last week already has me hooked on them, I made 30 over the weekend, I have a 3 day show and I always like to have something for the little ones, sometimes I just give them away when I see cute little kids. Where did you find that adorable doll? Ok, I shrink wrap my M&P, I use the high heat and just keep hitting it then pulling away and the soap won't melt. You can also use cellos but you have to be careful putting the soaps in and they have to be dry as not to leave a gooey mess. I have that same mold and it is a pain to get things out of that is why I do most of my bars in loafs then cut, I hate those little plastic molds. You can try putting in freezer but not leaving in long at all or just let the soap set up naturally and when it is hard push like heck to get out. HTH Michelle
24. Ok, I need the small snowglobes that you put in the snowglobe soaps. I want the one that actually have the liquid in them... The only ones I can find are at Oriental trading and theres are just bouncing balls with no liquid in them Michelle
25. I currently make my bath salts using the very large coarse salts, but have become interested in making some that are of a "fine" texture. My customers always asking me if mine are hot tub safe, and although I know the larger salts eventually dissolve I am reluntant to say they are, because I honetly don't know. And I like the look of the finer ones. Does anyone have a recipe for a fine bath salt mixture, maybe one that has epsom salts as well? Thanks Michelle
