I've never done this before, so here goes....a few pics of some of the candles I recently made. Also, a silicone mold I made of a carrot muffin. This muffin is the first pour. Of course, now I'm coloring them and have used apple spice FO!! Smells great. Gave a few to my daughter-in-law and friends. They loved them. I also made the silicone mold for the tarts. Feel free to comment, good or BAD! And...thanks for viewing! :highfive:

I have purchased candles from VP Hill (QVC) and never had a problem with her candles. Sounds like she may have designed the cinnamon bun for the purpose of inserting a tealight. Sounds neat to me; although I do like the way yours is burning! Personally, I can't burn anything made with cinnamon; sounds goofy, but it leaves a distinct taste in my mouth! Good luck!

Has anyone used CopyFlex silicone? I just received 1 lb. today. Doesn't look like much; guess I should have figured out how much 1 lb. of silicone really is before I ordered it! If you have used it, please let me know how it worked out for you. Thanks, guys!:rolleyes2

Thanks for your help, Candle Man! It makes sense that you would want to brush on the first layer, now that you mention it. I saw the vacuum de-gas process on the net, and the equipment is very costly. I appreciate your response!

Has anyone used SMOOTH-ON Silicone Mold Making Rubber to make your own silicone molds? I want to use a product that I can "pour" rather than paste over the item I want to replicate! Candlewic has a new product, but it's a type of clay and it won't work the way I want it to. Thanks for your patience with me; I know I've asked a similar question before!

I have been looking, for days now, at various sites that sell silicone, plastics, etc. for making candle molds. The type of mold I want to make appears as if you would place the item to duplicate into a container and completely cover with the silicone. Once dried, you have your mold. It would be the type you would fill with wax, rather than using the rubber bands to hold it together (2 piece) Example would be a piller type candle. Hopefully, I'm explaining this correctly. Has anyone done this? What type of silicone have you used; there are SO many available. I don't want the type that you would only make embeds from. Thanks for all of your help!

Those candles are great....nice job!!

The only time I ever had that problem was when I tried to trim the wick before the wax was "completely" cooled! Now I let them set for a few days before I trim the wicks!

I'm burning one right now, even as we speak, or in this case, type. I ALWAYS loved the 4 wick candles from WalMart, until lately. DH bought me 6 for Christmas and they burn out when about 3" is left. I'm on my last one now. I won't be purchasing more, any time soon. I personally feel they have really gone "cheap" in the manufacturing of these candles. Oh well; now I'm making my own and hope to try a 3 wick soon! Just have to get my hands on a mold! Yes, they are made of granulated pressed wax!!

Angela....What temp do you have oven on? Warm?

Talk about changes in temp...yesterday it was 68, today 34!!! Anyway... I have never experienced separation from the jar; just the wet spots. Even though I make candles to give away, or keep for my own use, I was curious as to why they sometimes have wet spots. Since I don't sell them, I shouldn't be so concerned, but if I'm going to make them I want them to look as good as possible! I've never tried heating the jar prior to pouring. Will give that a try and see if it takes care of it! I do appreciate reading all of your tips and tricks on this subject, and all of the other posts! I read this board ALL the time in the evenings! I have really learned a lot from you guys! Thanks!

Your advice is well taken, Angela. I guess I'll have to pay more attention to detail of candles in the store. Can't say I ever noticed wet spots on them before!!

Thanks for all of your replies! I will just learn to live with them. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but it doesn't sound like it!

I'm using clear glass containers with my soy wax. One problem is, on some of my containers there appears to be a wet spot on one side of the jar! I thought if I let them cure for several days, to a week or so, this would go away. What is causing this, and how can I remedy this situation? I haven't tried using Vybar...is that what it's for; you think that would help? Thanks!

Where is a good place to look for charms to attach around the neck of my container candles? I think they would look cute if secured with elastic cord, etc.! A little something to add to the look.:undecided Not sure where to find them; I did a search and the results were not what I expected, for the most part. Thanks for your help!
