  1. Sure wish I lived closer so I could take one of Brenda's classes. She's great and I'm sure she's very interesting to work with. I just ordered some of her sample FO's and one was the Orange Vanilla. I'm really looking forward to trying them. Need more wax, though....Guess I best get on the ball and order some.
  2. I poured mine and love it! I just ordered 10 sample FO's, so I'll be anxious to receive them. Brenda is great to work with; she really cares what we think! The only thing preventing me, so far, from ordering the wax is the shipping. Gets relatively expensive, but I'm sure I'll be ordering soon! It was awsome wax to work with!
  3. I poured mine in a 3" container with Vanilla Bean FO! Smells great; cold and hot throw! Problem is on the second burn (about 4 hours each burn) the wick fizzled out! Do you think it may have been that I used too much FO? Prepared wax per Brenda's instructions except I only used 1/2 oz. FO! I've used these wicks before and never had that happen. They are for use with a 2" to 3" container :embarasse Lucky for me, I was able to easily remove the wax from the container and put back in my presto pot!
  4. I know this may sound crazy, but if you have a dishwasher, put your keyboard in the top rack and wash it by itself. When it's done, turn it upside down on a towel and allow it to dry for several days. I've done this and it really works! Of course, I didn't have wax on it, either.
  5. I've learned so much from these guys!! Reading articles on the board and asking questions; it's now my favorite past time. Really, though, you can't help but learn and everyone is so helpful here! Good luck with candle making! I love it!!:rolleyes2
  6. You use the term hurricane wax; is this a special wax??
  7. Thanks, I'll be sure to check them out. :rolleyes2
  8. Have any of you ordered from Carolina Candle Supply? I was looking at their site and their prices seem really reasonable; at least to me they did. But, I've only been looking and buying for a very short time!
  9. I have a darling shade that fits a 4 oz. container candle; never saw them made for a votive though! Got mine at a local card/gift shop. Did you try a gift shop?:rolleyes2
  10. Hey, thanks for the tip. Will have to make a stop at Target!
  11. Speaking of the scale, I saw one at Office Max; it was a digital. Is that the same type of scale you use?
  12. Ok, I know this is silly but I just got my presto kitchen kettle today at Wal-Mart. My question is, do I have to do anything special to it prior to melting wax? I'm planning to use a pyrex measuring cup for dipping out the hot wax, at least for the time being! Your expertise is always appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Thanks, Brenda for all you've done for us. I know I'm speaking for everyone on this board! You do a great job; sending us the samples and answering our many questions AND emails!!:highfive:
  14. It looks like the one you bought on Ebay is already set up! No need to drill and attach parts, right? All set to use when you received it??
  15. I'm bummed! Ordered mine on 1/21; haven't received it yet!! Can't wait, since all you guys are so happy with samples!
  16. I have seen Crisco before on this board. My question is, do you really put crisco in your candle wax???? And....what does it do??
  17. I sent an email to Green Leaf and Brenda replied almost immediately! I'm trying the vanilla bean f/o. Will more than likely order wax and f/o's from her. :rolleyes2
  18. FRAGRANCE OILS - SAMPLERS Select 10 different 1 oz oils for $20.00
  19. I just tried the Yaley creme wax. Easy to work with and pours well. I used a block of Yaley vanilla scent. I added more than was suggested, but I really can't smell it. I'm guessing I need to purchase some fragrance oils that I've seen so much chatting about. My preference is vanilla. From your experience, where is a good place to purchase it from? As always I appreciate your help, since I'm new at this! Thanks, guys!
  20. I reviewed your slide show...very nice! I'll keep that in mind about using only the thin tin. It only makes perfect sense! Thanks again. I appreciate it and hopefully will be sending you a photo when I make a hurricane! Hope it turns out half as good as yours! :rolleyes2
  21. I do own a tall narrow mold that came with a candle making kit I received for Christmas. It's not the appropriate diameter for trying to embed a photo in a hurricane; I'm guessing it's about 2 1/2 - 3" x 6". Also, it's plastic. Tall and skinny!
  22. You guys are GREAT!! Thanks for your suggestions!
  23. Ok, this may be a stupid question, but I want to try my hand at embedding a photo in a hurricane candle! The problem is, I don't currently own a hurricane mold. So, are there any substitute household items that could be used to accomplish this? Or, is this just a crazy notion??
  24. What a really neat idea. Wish I had that much talent!
