  1. Beautiful candles....great job.
  2. LOL...guess I better not try and post to this board when I'm tired!! Sorry guys, but I really do know the difference between them....I think!!
  3. I never mind sharing any ideas about my candles. But, all I did was mix colors to achieve the orange that I wanted. The wax seems to be darker in the veins of the leaves, and I really don't know why. It does give them a much better look though, and I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks!
  4. Of course it's a duck!! Silly me...I appreciate you pointing out my goof up!
  5. I went to the Dollar Store Saturday and saw these leaf candles. I thought they might make great melts, so I figured I'd give it a try and make a quick silicone mold. Thinking of Fall, I colored the wax orange and used Apple Spice FO; do they smell awesome! Also, I attached pics of a teddy bear mold I made last week. It's a denim bear so I used blue as the color and painted his mouth and feet brown, as on the original. The basket I previously posted has since been poured and painted. What do you think? I'm not that great at painting, though! I enjoy making molds that will produce more unique candles. Thanks for LQQKING!
  6. Wow, that is a great looking candle. Good job!
  7. The 1st & 4th are my favorites! Very nice work.
  8. Those are beautiful.....where did you purchase your wax? I love those jars!
  9. My wick pins are just slightly smaller in diameter than the mold. All of my aluminum molds have wick holes, but I don't care to use them. I actually plug the hole and use a wick pin. Good luck!
  10. Believe me...I made the mistake of buying FO's from craft stores. They are not the same as what you get from a candle supply house! Good luck with your candle making experiences! So much to think about and learn.
  11. I've re-melted old candles and made container candles from them but ONLY for my own personal use! Can't say I actually used tapers, though!
  12. You're so right...I would not personally ever place a candle on a warmer without it being in some type of container large enough to hold the melted wax. Thanks to all of you for your kind words; I love the way this mold turned out. I'm testing the candle now. Will let you know how it burns! Thanks again!
  13. From what I've read, you mix your acrylic paint 1:1 with a candle painting medium. This makes the paint adhere to the wax without streaking or running. Now if you want to burn it, you shouldn't paint all the way to the top near the wick. Personally, I would try it and VERY closely monitor it as it burns. Guess you never know until you try it!!:tiptoe:
  14. Oh yes.... I will be wicking it. I planned to do it with the first pour, then realized I forgot. Since it's just the first try, I'll wick it on the next pour. I will try it without color, but I know I will get excellent detail. It shows with the brown, but thanks for the idea....always helps to hear that!! Thanks so much for the compliments!:rolleyes2
  15. I really like your labels. They are sharp! I agree, ribbons may take away from them.
  16. I just finished the basket mold (first pour) and I need your advise. I poured this mold using brown because, as you can see, the majority of the original is brown. I should only have to paint the red, green and yellow. I plan to use a simple acrylic paint; most of the candle won't need painted, once I get the wax color down pat. What do you think? Is my idea something that will work, or should I pour without coloring the wax? Thanks for your help!:tiptoe:
  17. Those canes are beautiful; I'm jealous! I've never tried to make one, but hope to some day soon. Wonderful job!
  18. Originally, I had posted this mold I made with a pic from the 1st pour. This time, I colored the wax and used spiced apple as the FO. Smells so good; wanted to share it with you! Today I poured a new silicone mold of a great little basket filled with fruits and veggies that I can't wait to demold and see how it came out. Will post a pic of it when done and pour a finished candle using it. Thanks for all of your support!:highfive:
  19. Your labels are really nice....great job!!
  20. They really look great. Where did you purchase the CO? I have some millennium wax which really frosts bad for me. If the CO would work, that would be great!! :rolleyes2 Thanks!
  21. I did not make the wick centering device. Actually, I purchased a sampler pack of these. It's the biggest one and really works well with the mold. Thanks!!:highfive:
  22. You guys are great. It's this type of incentive that helps us newbies believe in what they are doing. Thanks for all of your support.
  23. Thanks.....Yes, it was a REAL carrot muffin!! #2 son stopped over and thought it was real. Of course, I took my time letting him know he couldn't eat it!! LOL
  24. Yes, the muffins have a great CT!! I haven't burned one yet, but will tonight! Thanks for your great post!
