  1. Who knew, Donita....great idea!! You do such a nice job; take care!
  2. Greenleaf carries the 70/30! It's great stuff; love how easy it is to work with! :rolleyes2
  3. I couldn't agree with you more....guess I should have searched this site before I made these candles! Thanks, Again!!:rolleyes2
  4. Yes, the wax melted to 180, per CS's website before adding the FO and dye. Should I have increased the heat??
  5. I thought I stirred it enough, but anything is possible. The ambient temp of the room is 68 degrees. I hit the jar with my heat gun just before pouring and the jar was very clean. I'll try pouring at 150, rather than 140 and see how that works! Thanks for your help!
  6. A friend of mine asked me to fill a 4" x 4" jar for her. I used Golden Brand 464, McIntosh FO & red dye. I used Eco 14 and double wicked. I followed CS's instructions on heating, to 180, stirring & pouring at 140, to the T!! Here's my problem. Once the candle cooled it had a terrible looking cracked top, and around the bottom of the jar there are red swirls, obviously the dye!! Also, there are some white areas near the bottom on 3 sides of the candle. These didn't appear until the next morning. After several attempts to zap with the heat gun, the top was slightly better, although rather grainy looking! What the heck did I do wrong??? It is a larger candle, but I never used this wax before and probably won't again, if I can't get this problem resolved. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
  7. I agree, Gabbie! You did a great job with those and welcome to the world of candle creations!!! I can only imagine what you'll do once you get your wax. Good luck!
  8. Thanks for all of your input! I guess I'll keep looking around. I really love soy wax, but everyone is talking about the increase in prices. Just need to keep looking closer to me, for shipping reasons. Will look into KY candle! Thanks again!
  9. I always put the lids on as soon as they cool. No problems here!
  10. Thanks for that thread! After reveiwing it, I don't think I want to invest in 50lb. of wax only to find I don't like it! Guess I'll keep looking. To be honest, I've really only used GL's soy, so I'm not sure what other wax would compare to it! Any suggestions would be helpful!:tiptoe:
  11. Good morning....I searched this board and didn't see what I was looking for, so here's the question. Candlewic's Soy 125 is on sale. I've been using GL's 70/30, but with the price, plus shipping, it's getting expensive. Since Candlewic is in PA, it's closer to me and the shipping is better. Have any of you used this wax? If so, what do you think of it? Thanks for any help you can offer. :rolleyes2
  12. Where do you buy your status jars? I love them, but they are expensive with shipping. I see you live in NY!:undecided
  13. Very well said!! I have no more problems, since I started heating my jars first.
  14. Love the star chunk pillar, Stella. Very nice job; don't you just love working with palm??? I think it makes some of the nicest pillars!!
  15. I made several 3.7 oz. containers using the wick right off the spool. Seems to have worked just fine!! Thanks for your help!
  16. I don't put relief holes in any of my palm wax. I also use CS's glass glow & palm & I love it!! Actually, I haven't made a "white" palm, but would assume you could. Try it; just don't use any color and see how it comes out! Could always remelt it and then color, though I'm not sure how that would work out for you!
  17. I haven't posted pics in a while, so here's a few candles I made over the weekend. The one on the left is Green Apple, then Orange Marmalade & Lavender for the forever candle. The melts were made using my left over palm. With the forever candle, I only had a maroon tea light; the inexpensive white ones, in the metal holder, sit too low in the candle, IMO! Thanks for looking:tiptoe:
  18. Thanks! I'll check that out. I just noticed it's doing the same thing with my 3.7oz. jars!
  19. It's happening with my 16 oz. container candle made with GL 70/30! I have made many of these in the past with no problems. What do you think is causing this? I always make sure my wicks are "taunt" before I pour.
  20. I just received a spool of Eco 8. Is it necessary to be pre-waxed before using? I've never used wicks that weren't already in a sustainer base and wax coated. Thanks!!:rolleyes2
  21. Great job!! One day, I'll give that a try and see how it comes out.
  22. I use the ECO 12 or 14, depending on jar size, with 70/30 and 6% FO; no mushrooms. The only thing I do notice is that after about 2 hours, the flame tends to get a little high. I extinguish it and trim to 1/4", then relight! Love the 70/30 wax!
  23. Donita, those are beautiful. BTW, did I see somewhere in these posts that you mentioned a website where I could buy dried flowers? I'm hoping to do some orbs in the near future; just trying to plan ahead so I have the right wax, flowers, etc. Thanks!
