  1. Love the soaps. Purple again! My daughter make bath bombs. She is going to love these. My name for the purple was Purple People Eater, but someone already said that. It looks like a soap with an attitude. Just me, Tracey
  2. Love those soaps, especially the colours. What colour did you use to get the dark purple, and does it colour the bubbles. I have almost given up trying to get a decent purple. Congrats on the soap. Tracey
  3. If you get too much for soaping, you could always make cheese. Although cheese is better with non frozen milk. I agree what a bonus, fresh goat's milk. Tracey
  4. Just showed the girls and they loved it. Looking forward to see the "extra". Again many thanks. Tracey
  5. Yeah, it's mine, it's mine. I was hoping that it was going to be when I saw the pic. Thankyou very much Donita, as always it is beautiful. Tracey
  6. Yes I have made whipped soap, and I found it easy to do. I piped it on top of a piece of soap to make it look like a slice of cake with cream. Found it easy to do, easy to handle, and great fun. Sorry I don't have any pictures. Tracey
  7. They all look great. Congratulations. Tracey
  8. Beautiful, I just love these. That what I am hoping to be able to achieve this year. Tracey
  9. How blessed you are indeed, not only a great friend, but great soap too. Tracey
  10. Excellent, they look really beautiful. Tracey
  11. No, well at least those that had used it don't think that it does. It is more the look than anything else. Looks like you did something wrong, atleast to my way of thinking anyway. HTH Tracey
  12. I too agree that is it probably your fo. Just did a chocolate soap last week, and it is as brown as brown now. Also put in 1tsp of cocoa powder to a 6lb batch. Some fo's will never stay white in soap. Tracey
  13. I used to get fresh milk straight from the dairy. Unfortunately the owners wife got cancer, and he closed down the dairy to care for her. I found that if I put this cream rich milk into a soap, that I had little lumps of saponified cream through out the soap. I have found it better to use homogonised milk, (it is almost impossible to get all the cream off the top of fresh milk), and add cream just before trace. It seem to disperse better that way and no lumpy's. Just my experiences. Tracey
  14. Here's what I did a couple of days ago. Was trying a new scent, so tried a new way of pouring and colouring, well for me anyway. I'm sure the idea has been done a thousand times before. As I wanted it to fit my log mould, I used my usual recipe, melted the oils, then divided that into three equal portions into three pots. Made up the lye water, divided that into three separate equal portions. Divided the scent the same way. Made up the three colours that I wanted to use, in my case green pink and white. Used TD for the white. Then I made up the bottom layer of soap. Did as usual, coloured, scented then poured. I wanted tilted layers, so the next layer couldn't go on until the first layer was set hard enough that I could tilt the log mould in the other direction. Made up the second layer, coloured, scented and poured gently onto the first. When this set, straightened my log, and poured the third layer. Wrapped and let gel. I wouldn't recommend a scent that traced fairly quickly, as I like time to play. Thankfully this scent was beautiful to work with. If I can work out how to post a pic, I will try and show you the finished result. Not quite what i wanted, but for a first, I'm fairly happy with it. Just how I do things. Tracey
  15. Unfortunately the swap was a few years ago now, and my children threw out the tin when it finished. It was a soap or what ever swap on another board, that I haven't been on for a couple of years. I would remember her addie though. She also didn't have on the container what she used. Just the scent. Hellen I know what you mean about postage. Whet to order some things last month and the postage was twice the amount that I had ordered. Cancelled the order. If I can get good postage rates, it is worth ordering over seas, as even with the postage factored in, most times it is still cheaper than buying here. I guess I need to do more playing around and see what happens. Thankyou everyone for your help. Tracey
  16. Thankyou very much everyone again for your help. Interesting that palm comes in so many structures. The lava crystal that I have does look different to the glass glow, so I am assuming that they are different palms. Looks like I need to invest in yet even more wixs. Back to the kitchen. Tracey
  17. Thankyou very much for all your help. I don't understand why we have to name thing different all the time. It would be wonderful it there was a universal name for one product. Will do some research on the links provided. Tracey
  18. I have been trialing this wax. It is a container wax. I love the finish, but I am finding it hard to wix. Made a small container last week, and used a HTP 104. It was about the biggest wix that I had on hand. Although I have used this Fo before in Palm, and it threw fine, I have no throw in the container and the wax is struggling to burn to the edges. The container is 2.75" at it's widest. I was wondering how a zinc core would work on these? Any advice most appreciated. Tracey
  19. I am using Soy advanced which I have used for around 6mths. I made a couple of candles last weeks, some with a 6% Fo load, and some with an 8% Fo load. By the evening both candles were "sweating" with the surface covered in droplets. By the next morning, there was puddles of moisture around the wix. It looked like the Fo had oozed back up through the wix. Although when I smelt it, it didn't smell overly of Fo. I know that many of you don't like or use the advanced, but I don't have many options here. So using this while I get the feel for candles. But this is the first time they have turned out so horrible. Admittedly the weather here is very hot and humid, but still this was more than I had experienced before. Also I thought that my scent throw was ok, until I received a candle in a swap, and realised that I have no throw compared to that one. sigh. So options are, change my wax to, what? I think I am going to have to go over seas to get what I want anyway. Play around with adding other wax to improve final pour wax look? What works best? But what do I do to improve scent throw. tried numerous wix's that are available to me, some are better than others, but nothing like the swap candle that I tried. Feeling a little defeated at the moment. Any advice and help greatly appreciated. Tracey
  20. I recently made a batch of cream soap. After numerous problems, I finally finished it. As I couldn't wait for it to rot, I whipped up a small portion there and then. It originally had a very light fluffy feeling, like egg whites beaten with out sugar. Didn't feel lke much substance to it at all. Over time it has become thicker and more dense in feeling. As I have never even seen cream soap before, I was wondering what the end product should look and feel like. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Tracey
  21. They look beautiful. Would love to see them unmoulded. Tracey
  22. Thankyou for the sites. Beautiful work that I can only aspire to achieve. Tracey
  23. What a geat pic to go with the name.
  24. I always freeze the milk over night. Put the container into a sink of ice and water. Then slowly add the lye, which gradularly melts the milk. I continue the stir until cold, and leave in the ice water until I am ready to soap, stirring every now and then. Always stays a light creamy colour. Tracey
