  1. I keep coffee grounds at my shop on the display area so customers can use it between sniffing scents. I find the grounded beans work better than the whole ones.
  2. Whenever I get a new scent I test. On stuff I've been doing for a while every once in a while I just pull a random candle out of inventory and burn it. Since I'm constantly burning candles around my house I always have a feel for what is being poured. Just in the last two days I've poured 2 cases of new and old scents just for me to use around the house and test.
  3. No the newbiest of newbie questions is "What color should I make pink sugar?"
  4. You can tell by the first two numbers of the UPC where it's from. I have a list but it's downstairs.
  5. Becky at Just Scent had a pistachio panache but not sure she still carries it.
  6. Oh, Jean thanks so much. That's it.....flexible molds. Ginger's a real sweetheart.
  7. OH, man I could kick myself for not remembering her business name. I'm almost positive her name was Ginger. You could request a mold and she'd make it. She made me a huge candy corn mold for a very reasonable price. I think she's in Texas and does a lot of prim molds. She had a great Oreo mold. Was it primitivemolds.com ?????
  8. I won't have an answer to your question because I've ?'d the same thing. Our business is in LA and we have 2 or 3 vendors in TX....one in particular will charge us sales tax and I've called them to bitch and they just say we're obligated to charge it because they are selling it in TX. I asked if she had any sales tax exemptions and she said NONE! I was going to fax her my LA State Tax exemption for resale and she said it wouldn't matter. Now the others don't charge us. When asked they told us out of state doesn't get charged. Now maybe this other place is just run by an ass but I would love straight answers. If my customer is out of state I don't charge them. If they are state or parish exempt I don't charge them with a tax certificate exemption faxed over. The whole thing is a big confusion.
  9. Didn't get the nap....didn't put one dog out soon enough and my nightmare came true!!!! The kitchen drain is so bad now the dishwasher won't drain so I have a sink full of dishes from dinner and a dishwasher full of dishes that went thru a cycle but aren't clean. Thankfully I have the trap outside the kitchen window that he'll just snake out quickly (yes I've had this done every 2 years for the past 12 years.....by the trap it goes from 3" pipe down to 2" and it gets clogged there...or is it 2" to 3"????) I figure today can only get better!!!!!
  10. I use Candle Soylutions Sandalwood & Amber and it's luscious. I'll have to try adding some mint (think I'll try spearmint) to see how it helps.
  11. This one is a yin-yang mold. I was going to do it today but the Gods are sending me warnings not to. I poured a flat mold of fleur de lis (made the fleur a white and the background black) well I took 30 min. to clean up the white part so the fleur de lis' were just perfect. Poured the black background and about 3 min. after I realized I failed to scent the black. Oh well, the family will love the soap. Then I wanted to make me some nice shea/cocoa butter body butter....put it in the microwave to melt doing it 1:00 at a time....well it's all nice and melted and I take it out and dumbass me used a plastic tuperware bowl instead of my normal glass one (cause I broke it last week) and as I pulled it out I realized it had a hole melted in the bottom and I had no towel in my hand so I had to run thru the dining room and thru the kitchen to the sink with this thing dripping quite profusely and quite hot onto my hand and the floor. Well, the stuff went down my already slow running drain (plumber scheduled to come tomorrow) and my 2 year old grandson is giggling because one of the dogs is trying to lick up the mixture on the floor. Horrible visions of doggie diarrhea filled my mind and I screamed at the dog which scared the baby which made him turn fast...step in the slippery stuff and fall...luckily on his padded bottom. So now I have a sink I can't let water run in to heat up cause it then just clogs and a floor that definately needs hot water/soap to clean. Part is wood part ceramic tile. I think I'll just put the dogs outside and go take a nap with the kids.
  12. No....only showed finished product on her site...and haven't received it yet for me to take a picture. Believe me before I snip anything I'll post on here.
  13. I found a gorgeous fleur de lis silicone mold and I've never ever used these. Says I can use wax or soap. Is there anykind of hocus pocus magic word to get those things out of the mold. She talked about me maybe doing some snipping on the mold....(not after I just spent $25 on one frickin' mold I'm not taking scissors to it. Are they easier than they look to get out? Who is a good supplier for mica that can be used on candles? I'm seriously delving into uncharted territory for me.....but it's so much fun instead of the same old thing.
  14. Imagine that they finally called me yesterday on my cell phone. Was on the land line about my car (that's another $1900 headache) so couldn't answer it....do you think they could have left a message and ask me to call back....not a chance. So I called back to see who it was and it was them and she was very apologetic but trying to blame the postoffice. I told her no yaul addressed it with the wrong state and zipcode....weird but I have the box to prove it. She graceiously apologized again. I think asked her about the lining and she said no. Just regular m&p I shouldn't have to but if I feel better I can spray some Pam in it.
  15. I am an amber lover...as well as patchouli, sandalwood....all those eastern exotic types. That reminds me I have a sandalwood/amber that is luscious....that might be justabout perfect. Might try a touch of mint to that and see what comes of it....thanks Scented.
  16. I loved Elf Sweat.....was one of my fav new Xmas scents. Thanks for all the opinions.....I'll pull out all your suggestions and do a blind smell test!!!!
  17. What would your idea of what "success" would smell like to you. I'm thinking of calling a line "The smell of success" or the :smell of victory" and don't know if I should go really macho like masculine musk or just some off the wall uncommon scent like Mardi Gras or something light and green and uncommon like 4 leaf clover. I just don't want someone to pick it up and say oh that's cucumber melon!!! Has anyone tried that "Money" smell from NG?
  18. I finally got in my soap mold. They shipped it to Harvey IL instead of Harvey La and wouldn't answer my calls ....luckily it was priority and I got a confirmation and knew where it was so the people @ the IL post office were nice enough to send it down. Since my other post about this company was deleted I won't mention their name but pm me if you want to know who not to order molds from. It's been years since I've made m&P with a metal mold....and no instructions came with the damn thing. This is a tube mold...do I need to prime it with anything like Pam or will it just push out easily?
  19. I've used JS"s LS for the past 3 years fundraisers and is a great seller and consistent seller during the year at the shop .......so I'm assuming it's a great dupe (I've never smelt VS's)
  20. My oldest grandson LOVES cornbread...as a matter of fact his other grandma calls him cornbread cause it was one of the first words he ever said he loved it so much. Well, I poured this one on a day when he wasn't here and then lit it the next day while he was napping....when he woke up he was so excited he ran into the kitchen looking all over. My poor baby thought he had cornbread muffins hot out the oven ready for him. I had to make him some he was so disappointed. That's how good they smell and throw.
  21. Must be thinking of someone else....Just Scent only sends 1 oz. samples and she will send up to 3 if you request specific ones and they have them poured already. During the busy season I think she didn't offer the samples just because of being so swamped pouring regular orders.
  22. I think that's the problem....but I can't get it to open up anything if I click on the items on the left side tool bar like "Fragrances A-Z" or "New Products" the page opens up but nothing is on it. I can only see stuff on the home page. Will try again later today...
  23. I use WillowWoods or Cajun's Black Cherry. Both are nose hair burners.
  24. I've always used a high temp spatula and I can stir very quickly and throughly. I, too, would think skewers would take forever to incorporate everything throughly since it's not moving much wax with each revolution. I guess it would depend on what kind of paint is on the stick. Testing it should prove the point....dip it in just plain wax and then wipe it off...see if you can see any of the paint in the wax you've wiped off. You could coat them with a couple of things...you could dip them in that plastic coating type paint (you can also dip stuff like gardening tool handles in it) or a spray a clear acrylic on it. Or why not dipping them in thompson's water seal?
  25. Please excuse my stupid reply....I read it from my phone and the screen is small etc...anywho....I misread the part about it being a candle DH bought at fundraiser....My blood sugar must have been low also....oh crap I have no excuse.....I'm just an idiot!!!!! sorry
