  1. Will I never get the great throw out of soy that I'm expecting? Should I be testing paraffin or a blend of the two? I think I found wicks that work but Im not getting the throw that I expect. Is soy capable of the that?
  2. I have a whole series of them, from 700-793, 3 of each, should I try them?
  3. I think the cloth is cute! I say keep it. There are enough candles on the market that are just plain glass.
  4. I got a whole series of wickit wocks that were a sample, the 700 series. Has anyone ever tried them?
  5. Wow, Im not a wax drip anymore!!!! I'm using c-3 and for my last testing which was two weeks ago I used htp 83 and 104, cd 8 and 10, and a simple soy wick from WSP in 8 oz jelly jars. They do smell but not as much as I would like. Am I expecting too much from soy? Will the soy never have a very strong hot throw? Should I maybe try to get some paraffin and do a mixture? I have sample wicks from wickit. A whole series...
  6. Should I try using a series of wicks for testing? ie- all cds or cdns? Or should I mix it up, maybe cds and htps or ecos? The last batch that I made was mixed, it had cds, htps, soy wicks. I do have a series of all different sizes and was wondering if I should try cd 8,10,12 for a 3" container or mix it up for better results. Thanks
  7. Also what temps do you suggest and do you use additives? In my other tarts, I use USA...
  8. I found a wax that I love for tarts, I add 2% USA and the tarts are wonderful. Enchanted Lites sent me samples of their wax which I am trying not to use because I have not figured out the C-3 yet. I do want to try their votive wax for tarts though. Would that be okay? I figure that since I figured out the one wax for tarts, I would try another. I don't want to waste it though if its not an appropriate wax for tarts. Feedback would be great. Thanks in advance.
  9. So, I have barely figured out a candle but I need to learn to make a cream or lotion for eczema. My three year old was just diagnosed with it. I feel so terrible, she is scratching herself raw. She has salve that the dr gave her but I would love to make something for her. I am researching some recipes or formulas now. If anyone has one that they would not mind to share, please post. I would really appreciate it and I'm sure my little girl would too! Thanks so much
  10. I am experimenting with two different kinds of wax which clearly is a bad idea. I am one of those people who thinks they know it all and doesn't learn from others mistakes until I make my own. I am going to master the c-3 before I try the enchanted lites again. This way it wont confuse all of you and me. Today, c-3 + 1tbl usa, heated to 180, 1oz honeysuckle at 160, poured at 130. Two kinds of wicks the cottons I have been using 44-18-32 and the soy 3. I am going to try the wicks that have been suggested, the cdn's, lx's, and htp's with my jelly jar and c-3 + USA blend... I will pay closer attention and take the suggestions of experienced candle makers...
  11. Sorry Stella! I have alot on my mind unrelated to candles. I split the batch in half, thats where the rose oil came in. I did not mix. You guys say test, so I was testing. I had no idea about creme brulee being a heavy fragrance and needing to be added at a higher temp. I melted two pounds at one time, when melted, I poured into (2) 1b pots, did everything the same on both except for different FO's and one I dyed and one I didn't.
  12. The rose oil is from BC. I am talking about c-3 for containers. I have tried the soy 3 wicks from WSP and I have 44-18-32c... I just tried the soy wicks because they got great reviews.. For the tarts I used 416 and loved it
  13. I have let my first batch cure for two weeks. I am using one ounce per pound of FO and have tried more than one. I am going to try the same recipe with three or four different kinds or wicks...
  14. I just thought it was perfect because of the burn pool and the way the candle was melting... etc I guess I just don't understand why the wick effects the throw so much. I have tried two different wicks and still nothing. 44-18-32c and wholesale supplies plus soy wick 3... Should I have started with a more forgiving wax? Paraffin or palm maybe? I have no idea, I'm not even sure if those waxes are forgiving. Just looking for suggestions. Any wicks you may suggest? I'm using 8 oz jelly jars and c-3
  15. What wax, enchanted lites blend additives/amts, already has additives wick/size, wholesale supplies plus soy 3 wicks what kind of FO/amt, creme brulee- 1oz what shape/inside diameter container, 8oz jelly jar dyes used/amt? 1/2 soy chip melt temp? 175 added FO at what temp? 150 Poured at 118 The c-3 test book is upstairs and my daughter is sleeping so I'll get back to you on that. Stella, you posted the temp you melt, pour, and add FO at and I copied your recipe down... I did not use USA though like you do. I did everything the same except I used rose oil and a dye chip...
