  1. I also refill customer provided glassware...I've got a paper I give out stating I'm not responsible for broken glass during filling or after, etc and I fill them as they are given to me...I don't clean anything. I reuse for my own testing but wouldn't sell those.
  2. Same thing has happened at JustScent and someone else...I can't remember who.... they were slapped hard with ceast & decist letters to the point of having to even change wording of their descriptions. I guess VS and BBW hasn't gotten around to BCN yet!!!!
  3. I use JS 50/50 for votives with 44-24-18z wicks. I previously used 4794 for years...I prefer the soy blend. Don't make tealights. The layered containers I do basically the same as fredon stated...wait just long enough for first layer to slight cool...1 hour is about right depending on room temp,of course. I had bought a special layer wax but never have used it. I made some gorgeous Mardi Gras layered in containers and also some votives....they take 3 times as long to make but sure go over big! Betty
  4. A lot of it also depends on how your cp handles the heat. Every crockpot is different. My cp is at least 10 years old. I find that once I start getting the "Wave around the island" I check it about every couple of minutes to make sure a tsunami doesn't happen. I've learned I can do a 2# recipe in about 30 min. (from measuring of oils to clean up in the sink) with my cp on high. I reach trace in about 3 minutes. I made a batch of NG lilac last nite and it turned out so beautiful. A perfect winter white color...I was going to color it purple but the customer wants the basket done in red and I thought it would make it look like "Red Hat"! Word of advice: there are two things I always have 2 of in my house....a blowdryer and a stick blender. I have to always have a back up!!!
  5. I wasn't familiar with Enchanted Lites....googled and found them and saw their local distributor is CandleSoylutions and I have tried their sweet pea and it is great. It's one of the few I've found with the scent of the true flower. Always looking to find one better but I think I've already found it! I also added some to their sandalwood and it made the most sensual scent!
  6. OH, you should put that in b&b products...... if you think the candles are good...makes absolutely fabulous linen spray & body scrub!!!
  7. Hot Fudge Brownies from Cajun.....guaranteed you'll gain weight just sniffing it
  8. I use a 50/50 soy blend and WW throws great so it might be worth a try. For the soapers out there it makes a soap where the scent clings to you long after you bathe.
  9. By far Masculine Musk from WSP. I've had women come in the shop and say it's their ideal smell of a man!!! Men love it cause it's just down right sexy smelling.
  10. David, I love your thinking. Very simple and to the point....NO! Reminds me of a magnet I had on my fridge while my kids were growing up "Because I'm the Mom that's why." but the one that took it's place says it even better..."I have PMS and a .38...now do you really want to ask me a question????" Since I've gone thru menopause I now have a coffee mug that sits on my desk that says "That's Ms. Bitch to you!" Gee, now that was a walk down memory lane! I don't guess I qualify for "mellowing with old age"...lol
  11. I've had lots of people ask me and it strictly depends on how they ask. Sometimes after asking a few questions if they are truly wanting guidance I'll give them sites with starter kits but not if they come at me rude. Two ladies called one day very rudely...one called from one number and when we wouldn't give info out it seemed like she had a friend call up from a cell phone asking the same questions & literally demanding info...then they actually came to the shop and started saying how I must use at least 2oz. of scent cause they were strong etc.....I told them that the internet was open to anyone and they could do exactly what I did and Google and read read read. The woman flat out said...just tell me where you get your stuff...well she was rude first so I told her "This is MY business... so that makes it NONE of yours!" They finally left!
  12. If you want a real sweet pea scent (not B&BW dupe) try Cybilla or Candle Soylutions. I mixed some sandalwood & amber with sweet pea and got the most romantic scent ever. Both came from CS. I use a 50/50 soy blend.
  13. WillowWoods www.2wwoods.com does it also. I've used them and Taylored concepts and both did an excellent job.
  14. There are a couple of places that can attempt a dupe....I've used both of them with great success. One is Taylored Concepts and the other is WillowWoods. I'd e-mail them first to make sure they still do this. All I did was send them a chunk of candle and they did the rest.
  15. I used to get my J223 from Cajun and stopped almost 2 years ago. It had horrible sink holes and the blocks were hard not soft as originally. I asked Pam & Mike about it and they contacted the mfgr. and they were told there wasn't any changes.....I knew I hadn't lost my mind so I started looking for a more dependable one pour and have now been using JS 50/50 blend for over a year now and love it. I've got some of her 70/30 in to test and I've also got some from Greenleaf so I'll see which one of those is better.
  16. I knew I had been seeing those things but couldn't remember where until I read your post about Walgreen's. I've been basically living at that place lately and I was always in a rush so no time to check it out. Now you've got my curiousity up and may drive around the corner to go see one.
  17. Tracey, I use JS waxes and find better throw after 7 days cure. Some are very light throwers like Cherish so I use it in B&B. Everyone's nose is not the same. I have tons of JS scents and like every other supplier on God's green earth some throw heavy and some don't. I would love to know of a supplier that carries as many scents as Becky that has 100% heavy throw record for 100% of their clients. For some reason Becky is either loved or hated. I don't know why.....she's a supplier like many others that have great customer service and good quality oils. I personally like Becky because she is a people person and likes to get feedback from her regular customers. I like JS scents but I also like WillowWoods, Nature's Garden, Cajun, BitterCreek, Scented Bean, Tennessee, ICS, Greenleaf, Brambleberry, ScentWorks and the list goes on and on. I just don't get why when Becky's name comes up people who like her scents are ridiculed to the point of insult. Some people just need to grow up and realize they need to start having a life outside these chat rooms. I guess when they leave this Earth their ulogy will go something like...Yes she was a fiesty ole gal...very passionate about how much she hated JustScent. Made it her life's mission to bash Becky every chance she got. Too bad that's all she did with her life! Becky is one of 100's of suppliers out there. Get a life, people!
  18. I use both JS's 50/50 blends (votives & containers) and tons of her oils...what I've discovered is they must cure about 7 days for the best performance. I use zinc wicks. Now some of her scents, like every other suppliers, are not meant to be strong throwers such as cherish & pink. Her vanilla nut bread, decadant pound cake, totally scrumptious, almond marzipan, lemon magnolia, rhapsody(grapefruit mint), waterlily melon are all super throwers. Becky recommends cure of 4 days but I found the extra 3 days makes a world of difference.
  19. You won't be disappointed with any of her scents. Did you get the cherry amaretto or holiday sparkle by any chance. The lavender & herb is luscious! Great throw and it makes awesome b&b.
  20. Just a thought for those that want to attach the pipette to the bottle with a rubber band but hate the drippy mess.....attach them with the tip up! If I reuse mine that day I keep some isopropyl alcohol in a cup...suck some of that up and shoot it out....the alcohol evaporates very quickly so no contamination.
  21. Don't have the website but I can tell you the program is well worth the money. Definate keeper.
  22. Put a saucer out with honey in it..they'll be attracted and get stuck in it. After Katrina we had these like crazy cause of all the rotten food in 10's of 1,000's of refrigerators that were unopened for over 2 weeks with no electricity. Mitch had come to town after a week and cleaned out our fridge and filled it with charcoal and baking soda so I didn't have the horrid smell but the bugs got in there and it took forever to get rid of them. I used an ante bellum trick of the wasp catcher. It's a bell jar with a hole in the center and a plug in top. You fell the donut around the hole with honey or sugar water and the wasp or bees or any kind of bug crawls in from the bottom and then can't figure how to get out since the top is plugged up. They usually just drown in the honey/sugar water.
  23. This site is awesome...I've been printing recipes all morning! Thanks much!!
  24. I use her 50/50 blends for both votives & containers. You could use her 50/50 votive blend (called 50-50 pillar votive) for the tarts (not sure about the hurricanes). The container blend is called JSB-1. I don't get wet spots on my jars but then in New Orleans right now it's so hot in my warehouse it takes over 3 hours with a fan blowing around them for my containers to form a layer so I can move them. When I used J223 and had the wet spots like crazy (even in the heat of summer) I would just explain to my customers exactly how & why they formed & then they didn't care about them. I would even reheat the jars to remove them and they'd come back. Don't have that with the JS blends.
  25. If you use a tab with a longer neck you then have a votive that leaves about 1/2" of wax in the bottom of the holder and it looks quite unprofessional.
