  1. Hay Gal...Well,this is as far as my comparison has gone...I've soaped KY's and to my surprise loved it but only waxed JS and loved it. So at this point I would be comparing apples to .......oranges LOL. I'm pouring some testers today so if my feeble mind can remember to I'll pour a KY in wax.
  2. Only one on your list I really use is the wedding cake.....Becky told me this is the same one Missy's carried...it's awesome. For years this was the only scent my son would allow to be burnt in his room. Have you ever tried her Totally Scrumptious...the name doesn't lie. I use ICS's birthday cake also and can't imagine a better one out there.
  3. I love the Orange Chiffon Cake... you must try the Romeo & Juliet....not heavy strong scent but very very nice. DH even commented on how he liked it cause the scent didn't knock him down like some.... he said it actually made the house smell like I was constantly spraying an expensive air freshener.
  4. I've added a new signature line...thought after the prev post it was quite appropriate! lol
  5. Almond Cake, Angel Wings, Bluebonnet, Cookies n Creme, Creamy Vanilla, Downy April Fresh, Frankinscense & Myrrh, French Market, Green Tea & cucumber, Moonlight Lace, Moonlight Path, Moonlight Sonata, Nag champa, Olive Leaves (I LOVE this scent..it's actually burning downstairs right now), pecan sandies, Plum struedel, pralines n creme, Pumpkin pie spice, Quince (this is becoming a very big seller for me...very clean and light fruity),raspberry violet, red current & tulip, red current & thyme, red velvet cake, rice flower & shea, spiced apple, spruce orchard, sugar plum spice, Tulips, warm vanilla sugar, white tea & ginger, wisteria......just to name a few!!!!!
  6. I order my both my votive and container wax from JustScent but I buy it 4 cases at a time and get the 200# ups discount. I used to use Cajun for wax when I used IGI but got some of that goofy J223 and decided to change. As far as I know Cajun is the only LA based supplier and nothing in MS. I would love to have a supplier that I could just drive to. MeiMei you MUST try LS...they have some of the best scents!
  7. Yes, I'm sure most people do. It's a good recipe that sells well, can be purchased without paying freight charges and customers love it. If you scent it and put it in nice packaging no reason it wouldn't fly off the shelves. You can even add stuff to it to make it even better like shea butter, cocoa butter, etc. it's a good base to start with and you could tweek it 100 different ways.
  8. Oh, there's tons of things....strawberry, raspberry, sandalwood, musk, watermelon, apple....just to name a few!!!
  9. I knew of a woman who used lotions and creams from Family dollar to make her fancy smancy body butter. Here's the recipe if anyone wants it: 2 $1 bottles of Family Dollar baby lotion 2 $1 jugs of Delon brand Vitamin E Cream w/jojoba & aloe vera. Comes in a white jug with a kinda blue/gray lid. 1 $1.50 15oz. jug of generic vaseline. Scent it with any body safe scent. Laugh....I don't think so..people pay a pretty penny for the nice packaging. Enjoy!!
  10. Restful Mind Happy Thoughts Splendor Serenity Contentment Peace of Mind Mind Body & Soul
  11. My 11 yr old DD even said "Can't I just take one bite?" If she wants to eat that you should pour Totally Scrumptious! You'll want to drink it oob!
  12. How about "Intercourse on the Sand"? LOL sorry...couldn't help it
  13. This scent is hard for me to describe....so here's Becky's description: ROMEO AND JULIET - A warm and inviting comfort scent with fruits, rich spicy florals and a light sensual musk. Excellent in soy and safe for bath and body. It's a soft scent...not blow the doors off but it throws well. It's what I call a subtle sexy...this is a perfect Mother's day basket scent that would make great b&b along with candles.
  14. If you get the ducts cleaned, have them do it without chemicals. I know of more people that have worse allergies after the cleaning because of sensitivity of the chemicals they spray after they clean the ducts. If you are one with soot in the house.....check the inside of your computer. I had to bring mine in and the computer guy said he never saw anything like it...the whole inside of mine was just black...not dusty just sooty black. I burn candles both at my shop and home....have the soot at my house but not at shop. My house is over 40 years old and needs to probably have the ducts replaced but since it's a 2 story that's a major undertaking. That article was very informative.
  15. If you want straight pomegrante...Cajun has one awesome one called Coral Delight....if you want a mix....JS Sweet orange & Pomegrante is a best seller for me. I need to get that one in soap it would be delicious.
  16. OMG....that is gorgeous......140 thread colors and 40ct. I would need to have a magnifying glass the size of the entire piece to be able to do that. All this talking and DH is out of the house tonite...I just might get the itch and pull out one. I have one I pull out on vacations. It's a silhouette of the Logo from Jazz Fest and since it's all in black I can do it in the car and not have to worry about checking on the pattern. Talk about hard to do the outline. Didn't know if I screwed up till it got close to connecting the two lines and the piece is a good 3' wide. When I was stitching all the time DH got me the best christmas gift one year. It's an end table with a top that slides over to the sides where it could be like a table while you're sitting on the sofa...but the best part was the deep drawer. He cut wood slats and made these great compartments to hold all my thread. I keep them in those little small ziploc bags and he made the compartments the exact size so all the bags would fit in. One of the most thoughtful things he's ever done for me.
  17. Butterfly Hugs is great in my 50/50 blend and also makes great b&b.
  18. Curious...anyone here stitched the dragon/castle series that was out about 10 years ago? I've got all the patterns but never had the guts to attempt one. All this talking about it I may just pull out something and stitch a little. Like I have time for that...I've got 8 dz. votives downstairs that need to be cleaned up and wicked and about 50 bars of soap that need to be cleaned and boxed up....not to mention the kitchen dishes and the floors!!!!!!
  19. I figured it must be an aggravation for people living there but I'm an avid bird watcher and thought it would be a neat thing to see in the fields. Yaul are so lucky to live so close to Cajun......I would love to just once in my life to walk into a suppliers storefront! I'd surely die a happy woman!!! LOL Broke but happy!!!
  20. I'll have to check with her to see her sister's last name. Wouldn't that be a hoot if they are the same person!!!! I know what you mean about starting a project....I almost finished my son's kidnegarten graduation piece,,,oh did I mention I'm a grandma now...my son is almost 23!!!!! lol
  21. WillowWoods is the best. In soap the scent just clings to your skin. Makes awesome candles that have a dynamite throw. Also try her Holiday Sparkle...it's awesome.
  22. My mother was born and raised in New Iberia. Spoke Cajun French with her 4 sisters till she passed away. She was a Badeaux and her mom was a Durwah (I know that is very incorrect spelling but close as I can get to the pronounciation) My DH's step mom's sister works at the gift shop at McIlheny's. I know your beautiful town well. I actually got to see an alligator jump out the water and eat an egret while visiting Avery Island. We were just talking about going back down again to tour the salt dome. We love to do plantation tours and love San Francisco House and Shadows on the Teche. Never been to Cajun Candles but talk to Mike & Pam often. Whenever I'm able to get that way they are closed. They've told me to call if I get up and they'll meet me there but I know what it's like to have a day off. Maybe you can answer me a question. Are you in the area that gets the geese in the rice fields in the winter? We've tried to find them 2 years and are never in that area at the right time. I've heard it's a gorgeous site...most people get mad because of the geese everywhere dropping little bombshells on their cars!!! If you ever need a X-stitch pattern you can't find let me know. If I have it I'll be happy to copy it and ship it out. I have 4 3-ring binders filled of patterns and 2 are nothing but Louisiana themed. I have tons that are probably out of print by now.
  23. Snapdragon: What part of town are you in? I'm on the WestBank. My whole house is decorated in New Orleans/LA theme so I've done tons of the ones you mentioned. Annette Dickens is my favorite...I wish she would come out of retirement. I don't stitch as much as I used to. Between time; poor eyesite; crampy fingers etc it's getting harder and harder.
  24. Check out JS...she may have changed the name but it should resemble Passionate Kisses...I know she does testing in soy....look in her descriptions for her soy results.
