  1. I found it hard to look for the candle info I wrote down in my notebook, I am still in the testing stage of many jars, wickless, and scents. I started writing all the info on a notecard and when I test, I just pull the card (alphabetical by scent for me) and have it handy for testing info. I store them in a recipe box have. It works for me and its all in one place.
  2. I have one and love it. I use tarts on it all the time. The only thing I've noticed is that the bottom can get very hot b/c of the tea light, so I ALWAYS use a stone or ceramic coaster under it. I would include one or make a note on it. I have never burned my furniture, but I wouldn't want to take a chance, especially on wood. HTH
  3. I collect Hull brown drip pottery, dishes, plates...I love them and use them during the Fall and for my Thanksgiving dinners. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are safe for candles. They can go into the oven and are very thick, so I'm thinking yes. I would just hate to ruin them. They are just for me, not selling. Any thoughts?
  4. Thanks for all your input. I didn't pour today, but I did light some candles (before reading this). Tomorrow I will use all the will power I possess to NOT burn or pour any candles...my husband and kids will really think I'm sick (or just plain crazy!). I never really thought about the wax or scents affecting my health - stupid me! It is finally cooling off here, so at least I can start opening the windows. The mask is another good idea, but I sure will miss the yummy smells. At least I have lots of options before going to the doc., which always is my last resort. I wonder how many people have these same issues, probably more than I thought. So thanks again, I wasn't sure if I was just over-reacting. Happy and healthy candle making to all!!!
  5. I hope I don't sound too stupid...but I have noticed that when I pour lots (for me, a novice), of candles during the day, by 9 pm, all I do is sneeze, snuffle, and blow my nose. I have notice this more when I pour more candles, but I can't outweigh the elements (pollen, dust, bugs...I live in the South, on the coast). I never had allergies before, but doctors say you can get - adult allergies - what that means, I don't know. All I do know is I CAN NOT breath threw my nose and I'm sick of blowing it ALL NIGHT LONG! So, seriously, can pouring candles affect this or do I really need to take that painful allergy test I have been recommended. TIA
  6. My first reaction "holy crap" out loud, no less. These are awesome, can I order an acid trip as well! I don't make soap and can't even imagine how you could create such awesome and many colors in soap! I'm thinking my deodorant soap may have to be tossed, just so I can enjoy my showers and baths this much more. You are awesome!
  7. Went to my Walmart yesterday, and all the status jars (which I love and use) are gone, as well as the flowerpot jars. The tag is even gone, so I'm guessing they are gone for good. Big Bummer!
  8. So beautiful, you should be proud!
  9. It is the weight of wax and fo. The water idea is just to give you a general amount. Always weigh your ingredients, I found this out the hard way. Its not 16 fluid oz., its 16 ounces net weight. Hope this helps. I have found some other calculators that have helped me figure out the fo percent I want for any amount of wax. I will look for it and if you are interested I'll post it for you. This all can be very confusing, slowly, but surely, I'm learning more everday. I guess I actually learn more from my mistakes than my successes at this point, probably b/c I have more the first. Good luck!

    ?'s on wickless

I have read a ton on wickless candles and love the info. A few questions I didn't find or overlooked. How long do you, and/or how long is it safe to burn a wickless candle? If you burn a wicked candle on a warmer, what happens and/or what do you do with the wick? Do you color your TIN jars, since you can only see the color from above? Some say the candles last longer, but others say the scent doesn't last longer (guessing maybe the wax coul€ last longer, but scent fads quicker? Anyone use 10 or 16 ounce candelinas for these, seem to fit, short and spout (when I get all steamed up, hear me SHOUT!...) Any help would be great! TIA
  11. Apparantly my thoughts aren't shared by many, b/c over 300 people have visted this site, but only a few share responses, none which have even acknowleged my post. If you think I'm way off base, let me know. But why can any of you complain about "big business" (without becoming too political, I'm not against) if you won't even give your two cents?
  12. Just a little thought for you all... About 6 or 7 years ago my mom bought my sister and I candles that looked liked a group of yellow lemons. I have moved 6 times in 5 yrs, (restuarant management both dh and me), and lost mine upon the way. A month ago, I was at my sister's house and went to do the dishes, and wouldn't you know it, she STILL had her lemon candle in her kitchen window! I did say something to her about how have you keep it this long?" She just said that she loves it and it is so nice. I thought that was so awesome. As much as I hate that mine was lost in so many moves, it was so cool seeing hers. It is weird how one candle candle can remind you of a specfiec point in time. I think my sis thought I was crazy for even remembering it, but she did and we laughed about how mom always buys us stuff that others think is just silly...notice what is kept and remembered. Just thought I share and smile.
  13. I have no idea what an electric candle is...should I be embarassed!? But I must say these are really cool! They look awesome and I'd love to know more about them.
  14. I have heard of metal tape, no clue of what it is or where to get it. I'm sure Lowes has it, do I just ask where metal tape is (love to save any embarassment, as I tend to bring on enough without trying :tiptoe: :tiptoe: :tiptoe: How do you use it? Any help would be great! TIA
