  1. Thanks TOP! I have used a CD12 and CD14 and LX26. I know what you are thinking...too big... but its working out good for me. Burning faster than I would like I think. I will however try going lower to see what happens. Cause..you know how it is...YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS RIGHT! he he Janet when I added Bw to my mixture I had to up the wicks. I don't know if you will have to. With these tins you really do have to wait till the bottom of the can to know your results.
  2. Adsoy....... I brought a candle to work to wick test this morning....and it threw really strong for me.... yet at home I couldn't smell it. I have so many different smells going on at home I am thinking work is going to be a better place to test. I have done numerous tests to get my stuff to throw stronger. BW and a tad of steric has helped me out some.
  3. That's why I love this board...no matter how dumb a question or crazy the thought..someone always come through with some wise info.
  4. That's a great idea Vicky. I think I need to find testers. Wanna know how I test the throw? I stick in the bathroom and come back a couple of hours later
  5. Vicky...do you have a wonderful throw at your cooler pouring temp too? As I heat up the wax...it smells my whole house too...but the scent seems to get weaker the cooler it gets. The Mp in my lit candle doesn't seem to go up much from 115. So I never do get that awesome throw like when I first pour my Fo at 165. But am getting a similar smell to the cooler pouring wax of 115. BTW...I have had candles cure up to 2 weeks and they don't seem to smell stronger than ones made a couple of days. The cold throw is better..just not the hot throw. I am kinda convinced...if it doesn't throw in a couple of days..it just won't. If it smells weak at pouring...it won't throw well either.
  6. I can tell the difference. Some Fos smell really nice when super hot. But when they are semi hot (115) they hardly smell at all. And since my pool gets to 115...I still feel I can tell now. YOu may be right..on the curing..... but my nose tells me different.
  7. As I am letting my candle wax cool before I pour....it goes from really strong to lighter throw right. At 115 I pour. I re-tested this observation by smelling my pot of cooling wax at 115 and a lit candle of the same FO. Maybe I don't know how to explain it.. but when I pour a candle at 115 degrees that barely throws... thats exactly what I am getting 2 weeks later. When I pour a candle at 115 that is strong...it throws strong.
  8. The other day while testing a candle... I decided to stick my thermometer in the pool. I saw that it read 115. That happens to be the temp I pour at too. What I learned is that when pouring...I can pretty much determine whether a scent will be strong when lit. When heating the wax with Fo... its pretty strong...then it starts smelling less and less. If it's still strong at 115... it will throw good for me. Does that make any sense?.... Also I don't think curing has helped alot with my hot throw. It does help with cold throw.
  9. Peaks has the best LOVESPELL! I think.
  10. Just started burning Save on Scents Ginger-Lime (yankee type). WOW! It throws in soy the day after. (used 8%) Just thought I'd share that since its so hard to get some FOs to throw right away. When I first took a sniff out of the bottle... I thought YUCK...this smells rotten. I bought the manufacturers-concentrated type. They have 3 ways to buy.... regular, concentrated and Ultra concentrated. Has anyone else tried this?
  11. Type of Soy or Soy Blend? Ecosoya CB- Advanced Soy Additives if any? None Preferred dyes? color blocks Preffered wick (not size) CD or LX Pouring Temp? 115...I always get holes if poured hotter. * No frosting..No cracks..No rough tops......... Using 8oz tins
  12. Thanks Kaybee! Am going to use it right NOW!
  13. Just bought one at Walmart. Wasn't sure if I bought the right thing. Just put the wax straight into the pot? Thanks!
  14. Actually I don't know what I was thinking. I just know I had extra wax...I thought oh cool...I have leftovers for a couple of tea lights. I read a post TOP wrote about measurements and realised I was doing it all wrong.
  15. Is this the same as a Presto Pot? It looks like one.
  16. I'm not sure it's the beeswax anymore because I tried with another Fo and it didn't give me the same results. I should have posted something about it. I'm getting good cold throw...just not the hot throw I'd like.
  17. Thanks for sharing Henry and Top. I am going to try mixing the CB135 with the advance 1 as well...purely for scent throw issues. Since I have limited myself to tin containers, I don't feel as though adhesion is important. I tested several wicks this evening and am leaning towards the CD wicks..I am getting better scent throw. I love the LX wicks as well. Will have to make a decision soon. Henry keep us up to date. Am very interested in scent throw. Okay... I know this has been disscused before and I know people have said that VYBAR does nothing for soy.....however I have been talking to someone who is an experienced chandler and insists that Vybar (for scent throw) works with the advance. What is your opinion on that?
  18. A Presto Pot..what a great idea. Hmmm.....wonder if I have any money left to buy one! I started making candles to save money. NOT!! lol
  19. ARRGGHH!! Eco 12 maybe? Close? Starting to feel like a Masochist..I keep changing my containers.
  20. Yikes! I just wicked one with an ECO14 and another with LX 28! I just got some kewl tins at SKS and wanted to try them out.
  21. Top...were u at one time testing a ECO 14 in a 8oz tin and posting pics? I thought I read that somewhere. If so....how did that work out for you?
  22. I was doing the same with measuring my wax and FO. I was using 16oz of wax and 1.5 oz of FO and kept wondering why I had wax left over.
