  1. Yes regular CB135 from CandleScience. As they are out in the open now and getting room temp (our house is still cool) a minute amount of frost is showing up but not bad!!! Maybe I should have just left them under box until it was warmer in the house!!! Oh well!!! There will be a next time to try that. I will keep you posted. This frost thing is interesting!!! It doesn't like the cool temp's.
  2. GOOD MORNING!!!!! Just wanted to share. I poured 20 tins last night. Used my Presto Pot and kept a 150 deg going. Melted 4 p of wax, that is a lot for me, I usally do 1 p. Poured at about 120 deg. Anyway, they all ending up on my piece of wood I put them on hoping not to cool to fast. All hubbled together. Put a box over them and then a heavy beach blanket folded in half. It was about 9 o'clock last night when I finished. House temp was 73 deg. Looked under box (couldn't help myself:tiptoe: ) about 11 o'clock and the temp was 95 deg. The reason I used a beach towel over box is that I knew Florida was going to have a cold night. In the 40's. Knew the house would be about 60 to 65 deg this morning. Got up this morning and house was 65 deg but under box it was 70 deg and NO FROST on my tin candles!!!! Couldn't believe. I am happy:D and just wanted to share with everyone that was been using CB135 and gets all that frost. NOW we will see how the burn!!! If that works than I will be beside myself after 6 months of trying to make a great candle.
  3. Sorry the above link didn't take me to where I wanted you to be. Have no idea where it came from!!!! If you go to google.com and put in Blue Ridge Mercantile candles you will find lots of links. I promise!!!
  4. http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&oi=dict&q=http://www.answers.com/candles%26r%3D67 I went to google and put in Blue Ridge Mercantile candle and found thousands of links. Have fun!!!
  5. Geek, I agree with Marilyn, thank you for sharing. Funny, yesterday I poured at about 115 deg with preheated tins in oven to about 100 deg. Put filled tins on a piece of wood so they wouldn't cool to fast then put a box over them also. I live in Florida so yesterday the house was about 80 deg. We didn't have the A/C on. They are my best looking ones yet. Now I want to try this with my bulb jars that have always given me fits!!!!!!
  6. Hi Connie, I got this forumla off the Internet and it worked for me. I use only primary color dyes. Not Peaks though. 2 drops of yellow and 1 drop blue THEN take a toothpick and dipped it into the red color (on the Internet is suggested rust but I don't have a rust color) and added it to the wax. I did the toothpick speck twice. It drabs it just enough. Hope this helps.
  7. Vicky and Tess, Thanks for your words of wisdom. Being Ms Clumsy I can see it all now!!! LOL I was thinking a 4 oz tin with a cover would work but that is still no guarantee that is wouldn't end up all over the car. One slip and OH MY what a mess!!!! I think the Aroma beads are a perfect solution. Thanks again,
  8. Hope this isn't to dumb of a question? I am a newbie don't forget!!!! I live in Florida and I was wondering if I put candle wax, (NO WICK) FO and dye in my container and placed it in my car just for the smell could it ignite? The cars get pretty hot in the summer and my hubby wouldn't like it if I set our car on fire!!! He would be real mad:mad: for sure!!! Please help me to make the right decision!!! GOOD idea or BAD idea. Thank you,
  9. Found out how addicted I am!!!! Glad you are all back in my life. Since I am new to message boards and Candletech I hope that doesn't happen to often!!!
  10. Hi and welcome!!!!! I really don't have any words of wisdom about candles yet but hope to someday!!!! I wish I would have known about this message board and gained some knowledge like you have been doing before I charged into making candles cold turkey. With everyones helping I am doing better and hope someday to have a beautiful candle to tell everyone about!!!! Happy candle making this weekend and let us know how you are doing,
  11. Hi Sheri, I bought a Wagner Heat Gun last week at Lowe's and it was HT1000 the least powerful and least expensive one they had. Total cost was $37.07. Lowe's is in my back yard almost. I love the heat gun and Lowe's. The heat gun is better that a blower dyrer. I had wax all over my bathroom counter not long ago with a blower dryer!!
  12. Hi Top, The diameter of my tin is 2 1/4", 1 3/4 " high, with clear tops. From SKS I use soy 125 that is a blend of soybeans and soybean oil. ratio: 30.21 oz wax, 1.59 oz of FO, and 8 drops of liq dye I heated wax to 180 deg. MI (manufactuers instructions) Added FO at 175 Added dye at 170 Poured at 150, MI Cured for 3 days I did 3 tins and 6 jars. Wicked the tins with ECO2 that you suggested, I chose ECO4 and RRD34 for the other two tins. The ECO's never made it anywhere to the sides. ECO4 got almost there but wasn't clean. But to be honest I didn't burn any of them to the bottom. Soya today told me to make sure I do that. So this this weekend I will. In all the months I have used this wax I have only had it work only with a 16 oz bulb jar when I doubled wicked it. All the rest of the time I have been trying to get it right. So I have ordered CB135 soy from CB and I think that will work much better in my jars and I will use the soy 125 from Candlewic on my tins until it is gone. I am rambling, sorry!!! Top, I would appreicate what you have to say. It is hard being so new and trying to get it right. My re-poured tins today with BW looks good. I will see how they burn this weekend. Xsami300x congradulations on your tins!!!! I hope to be able to say that soon.
  13. Soya, Thanks. I will wick up and wait for the total burn. Appreicate your help. I also sent a reply to your post Something I learned. The Comparing Scent Throw in Candles was very interesting.
  14. Was looking for something else but found this. It was under general information on this web site. Comparing scent throw in Candles: You nose knows. In part it says: Sensory adaptation is where, after being exposed to a constant stimulus for a while, the sensory receptors reduce and eventually stop firing signals off to the brain. They haven’t completely stopped functioning, but they have raised the threshold of activation. So, if a more intense stimulus comes along, they will be triggered to fire off a signal to the brain. But, lower intensity stimuli will not trigger the receptors. So, sensory adaptation acts as a filter for our sensory input systems and attempts to zero-out the constants in our environment. Maybe that would explain why at work the smell is stronger for you. Just a thought.
