The 474 can be poured at a hotter temp. I would try around 160. We have formulated this wax to be a bit softer from what you may be use to. We have done this to bypass the cracking that is associated with most votives. The 474 can be used for both votives and tarts. You can also use it in a container candle, but may need to add some 402 to soften it up a bit. The 416 is a pure soy and can only be used in tarts. I would pour this at around 90. Remember, whenever using a pure soy it is better to pour at a lower temp. thank you for your interest in our products, Jason

402 and 415 would give you the same result.

I wouldn't add anything hard to this. That is what is causing it to crack. You really need to add a lower melt point wax to this. Please call me if you have any questions.

Anyone interested in all soy tarts should try Golden Brands 416. This soy has the perfect melt point for tarts. It will still need to be poured around 90, but you will get no shrinkage, and a great hot and cold throw. What is the melt point on the soy wax you are using?

We have a pure soy that is perfect for tarts. It is the LP416. and has a melt point of 135. It is a pure soy so it is best to pour at a low temp. This wax will not flake and will pop right out of the molds. You can get it at either Aztec International (1-865-588-5357) or call Kris at gateway at 1-877-220-1963. We also have a new blend, GW474, which is great for tarts and votives. It is a blend so it can be poured around 160. You can get a sample of this at gateway or makes Scents Candles. I was not working here at the time and I have never seen any wax from this batch. It is my understanding that it was a batch that fell into the higher melt point range. If this is the case then I would suggest adding 402 or vegetable oil to it. You want to bring the melt point down and the best way to do this is to add something softer to it. Crisco will not make it harder to burn because it has a lower melt point. It will actually make it burn easier. Call me if you can not get it to work. I will go through it with you. jason

Breanna, The 415 is pure soy. You can not put over 8% fragrance in it with out it bleeding. The slush pour, which should be done around 90 degrees, will have a smooth top. You can pour higher, but you will not have the consistency that you will get from pouring at a lower temp. I know a lot of people will add around 3% beeswax to the soy to help out. This is the frustrating part of soy and why so many people have a hard time working with soy. This is why we have come out with the new blends. With these you can use a larger amount of fragrance and achieve smoother tops with a hotter pour. Please feel free to call me anytime you have any issues with a Golden Brands product. The 449 starts from the bottom? It will harden completly. This is jsut one of those interesting things about this wax. jason

Vicki, Right now you can get the 449 at either Peaks Candle Supply in Colorado or Gateway in Dupo, IL. You are not waisting your time testing the 449. It will always be in the market. I just have more people at this point carrying the 444. FYI-We do not sell slabs. We only sell flakes. Hello everybody, I would like to thank all of you for your feedback on the GW423. It seems that this wax needs to be re-blended. We have had this wax back in the lab for a couple of weeks and it seems that we have narrowed the problem down to a couple of things. Now it is time to make some pillars and burn, burn, burn. Do you all hate testing as much as me? Lol. Anyway, I will post on this board when we feel comfortable in the new blend and will be more than happy to send all of you fresh samples.
