  1. I have a lipstick/eyeliner making PDF on my computer. No clue which site it came from, but it recommends: For a dark solid pencil: 20% pigment For pearl lipstick: 15% pearl mica & 5% pigment For sheer lipstick: 20% mica For cream matte: 5% pigment, 1% tapioca powder, 1% titanium dioxide And there's also a lipstick base recipe. It has 43% castor oil. I think you have to have a combo of the right oils + the right colorant to get a lipstick that stays.
  2. I've tried a few CS scents in soap. My reviews: Lovespell: Behaved in CP, but scent is not as strong as I'd like Sex on the Beach: Discolored and smells kinda "off" in CP Rain Water: Instantly riced in room temp CP Pineapple Coconut: Delicious pineapple scent in HP Sunshower: Great in CP I'm dying to try the White Tea that they have. It smells heavenly in a lotion, but I'm afraid it might rice in CP.
  3. IME, if it doesn't gel, it doesn't cure as fast. After a few days, I get no zap from a gelled soap. Try the same with an ungelled soap, and ZAP!
  4. I second that. The Lovespell at TCS is the best I've tried.
  5. I ordered from VistaPrint once before a few years ago, and never had any problems. I assume they just didn't have the program back then... When I completed a recent order, I didn't really think twice about entering my email for the $10 rebate. I truly thought it was just a rebate until I hit enter and realized it signed me up for their rewards program. I can't believe that just entering your email gives them authorization to charge your CC. I didn't actually get charged, just enrolled in a free 30 day trial, but still... That's just plain shady and underhanded. Luckily, they had sent me an email about my "rewards" benefits, and it had a membership number and a phone number to call and cancel. I cancelled immediately, but now I'm worried about the other charges I've read about. Like the Passport for fun and Shopping Essentials. I can't believe the BBB hasn't done something about this! I will never ever order from VP again. I had planned a few more future purchases, but not after reading those links you guys posted. I'm just glad that I didn't use my bank card for this, since I'd get a $32 overdraft charge if they tried to use it.
  6. Here's the only other lotion calc I have bookmarked: http://home.earthlink.net/~skinesscentuals/Lotion.html#CHART
  7. Anyone else having problems with the checkout at Tradewinds? I only needed to get 2 colors of select shades, so I added them to my cart and estimated shipping. It ended up being $6.55 for USPS priority, so I continued through checkout, but when I chose priority shipping, it changed it to express. I am so not paying $21.65 to have these shipped. :/
  8. Looks great! I love the colors & swirls. Wish I could smell it!
  9. Has anyone tried the presweetened flavors from The Chemistry Store? I'm considering the strawberry, cherry, and banana.
  10. I've used the 6 oz window tins from CandleScience, and they're good quality. Rreasonable shipping too.
  11. That's not a pillar, that's art! Exquisite!
  12. Those are beautiful! I love the almond & oatmeal, and the tuscan lace is lovely. I love the cloudy look. How did you manage to do that with MP?
  13. I normally line with parchment paper, but I think I'm getting ready to switch. I hate lining molds, and I'd rather have something that's reusable. Yesterday I bought a sheet of mylar to try out, but I haven't cut it to fit my mold yet. And the next time I go to Hobby Lobby, I'm going to get some of those craft foam sheets. From the posts I've read, it works extremely well.
  14. Very nice soaps! I love the Bacchus! It reminds me of a painting.
  15. This batch definately didn't go as planned... It was supposed to be blue, green, and white. Scented Rainwater. But unfortunately, as soon as I added the FO to my blue portion, it riced. I was still able to use it, but for the rest of the soap, I went ahead and used another scent. I also played with the color a bit and the green portion became the purple. I like the way it turned out. Kinda unique, but the scents & colors don't really match. The soap ending up smelling like a combo of light florals with a clean undertone.
  16. Thanks guys! The colors aren't as light as they look. They're a little off in that pic. This one is a little better.
  17. Finally, my select shades mixed up perfectly! Lately, I've been having trouble with them being a bit "off", but this time they were exactly what I wanted. Now I just need to get a decent cutter. Hubby threw one together with a guitar string, but the wire is not stable at all...
  18. Looks yummy! Good job!I miss making pie candles, but gel wax and embeds are too expensive for me.
  19. Perhaps you could whip up an emulsified scrub, but without the salt/sugar scrubbies? It would go on like a cream and rinse like a lotion.
  20. Do they have to be ovals? I found these 1/2 oz boston rounds. http://www.sunburstbottle.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1877/.f
  21. I think I'm falling in love with this wax! It's even worth the repour. *lol* Purple - Bird of Paradise Pink - Strawberries & Cream Yellow - Pineapple Coconut
  22. I have some of the 2 leaf FO's, and they are awesome. The pineapple coconut is highly recommended! I love love love that FO! Also tried the sun shower, and it was extremely strong in my soap. Haven't tried it in wax yet, but the soap is smelling up my whole kitchen.
  23. Yikes! That's no fun. Luckily, I've never had that to happen. I have had a couple of close calls with my crock pot though. Sounds like a big mess to clean up. I use sugar to help the batch more fluid. If I leave it out of my HP batches, I can really tell the difference. And the sugar is also supposed to help with the lather.
  24. Yep. Just finished the second burn. Got a weak flame after about 2 hours of burning, and it's tunneling. Looks like it's going to leave the perfect shell for a votive to fit into. It'll just be my accidental forever candle. I think I'll try an LX 20, and if that doesn't work, I'll just get some of the CSN wicks.
  25. Yeah, this is my first time with palm in containers. I did my first test burn last night. When I first lit it, it was perfect. Then after a couple of minutes, the flame started jumping up and down very quickly. The flame didn't get big though. After a couple of minutes of the "jittery" flame, it resumed a normal burn. The flame stayed nice until about 2 hours into the burn. Then it got quite weak, almost drowning out. At about 2.5 hours, the melt pool was at 2 inches. It's hard to see in the pic, but the MP was the same diameter as the mouth of the jar. It may catch up on the the next burn. Cold throw is excellent. I did these in pineapple coconut, and I just wanna eat them! *lol* Hot throw is not as great, but acceptable. The pattern did okay, but i have small non-crystalized layers between the crystalized parts. You can see it in the scan. I think it's because of the uneven cooling.
