  1. LOL! Do you live in Tennessee? I have the exact same problem. I have a Super Walmart about 20 minutes away in 3 different directions, and they all stock different items. I finally found freezer paper at one of them (the other 2 didn't have it). But now I have linerless molds, so I don't need it. BTW, squirrel season opens at the end of this month, but deer doesn't start till October or November, I think. My dad's an avid hunter... :undecided
  2. Do you ever have problems with your soap sticking to these molds, Grumpy? I have the exact same ones, and I'm thinking I might need to start spraying them with Pam. The last 2 batches I've made have been terrible. Even after waiting 3 days, when I take the sides off, big chunks of soap stick to the sides. Maybe my recipe is too soft? I didn't have this problem with my old recipe.
  3. I like my logo, but I'm thinking it's a bit too plain and dull. Anyone want to make some suggestions to liven it up a little? I'm not good at graphics, but I could add some colors.
  4. I'm the same way. I use their blueberry, strawberry, cherry, vanilla, and a couple others, but only in gel pies & novelties. I've never even tried them in my containers. The apple cinnamon was super strong in gel and pillars though. I almost got sick pouring it.
  5. I wonder about adding more color though, because they say you shouldn't use over 1 tsp. per pound.
  6. That's the thing though, I wasn't blending. I was just using the base color of purple velvet. The "purple" part of the soap looks very slightly grey now, kinda off-white I guess. It's not speckled at all, just the lack of color. It's been a couple days, I would have thought the color would return by now if it was due to the lye.
  7. I use an LX 20 for my 4 oz tins, but I use a 70/30 soy blend. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  8. I used 1/8 of a teaspoon (per pound), and got no color change, so I added 1/2 a teaspoon, and there was still no color.
  9. I just got done with a batch of CP, which was supposed to be swirled purple. I used the Purple Velvet select shades, but the color never came through. The soap stayed white... I've got it in the mold now, and I'm just wondering if the color will come back.
  10. OMG, faerieglow! That is just too adorable! How much do you charge for logos?
  11. I like the first one best, for the reasons sockmonkey mentioned.
  12. Aside from free samples out the wazoo, that sounds pretty much like ICS. They are now my only FO supplier. I've tried a few others, but I always come back to ICS. The prices are just awesome, and their FOs throw very well in my 70/30. About JS, I've tried a couple of her oils. The creme de la creme was EXTREMELY strong in soy. It's a shame I don't like the scent. That one was a thrower... almost made me sick it was so strong. I also liked her frosted berry blizzard, but I used it in soap mostly. I tried it in some pillars, but hot throw was weak. And her perfect pear was nice in J50, pretty good hot throw.
  13. No, the molds were room temperature. The reason I lost some of the frost was because I was too impatient. I should have waited a couple more hours to unmold them. :rolleyes2 I followed your instructions, eugenia. You are actually the one who inspired me to give them a try. I'm a huge fan of your pillars!
  14. Poured these last night. I'm very happy with the 3" pillar, but the smaller ones lost some of their frost in the molds. These still need to be wicked and leveled. Scented Freesia, and made with 1343A.
  15. I second the lemon meringue from ICS. Very drool-worthy, lol!
  16. Is there any way I can buy a bar of this, Brenda? I know it's probably not fully cured yet, but I don't mind. I'm dying to try a whipped soap.
  17. The logos are different, however, the border boxes are identical. Exact same brush strokes and all. I rotated and zoomed in, and they are a perfect match. But, if it is indeed a stock border, then you can't call foul play. If not, well, then it gets ugly...
  18. We are in complete agreement! I will NEVER touch pure soy or a soy/veg blend again. It's just to danged ugly after you burn it. Toss in a smidge of paraffin, and it's good to go.
  19. I average $17 per pound after shipping, and I don't even buy in bulk. I refuse to buy from Scent Works or Sweetcakes. My customers are generally low income and they will not absorb the cost for FO that's nearly twice the price of what I'm using now. I have a hard time getting them to pay $4 for a 4 oz tin.
  20. From bunny's "How to build a soap recipe!!!" post ETA: I never use coconut at more than 15%, because I have sensitive skin. I find that more than that can make my skin dry out and flake off. :/
  21. I've never had that problem, though I think someone mentioned it before. Top maybe?
  22. I can't say for containers, as I haven't tried these wicks in them yet. However, I did try a 2" pillar with a 625. It seems to be close to the right size, but the flame can get a little high. The 625 is the largest recomended size for a 1-2" pillar, so they seem to be on target. It would probably be the correct size with a heavy FO. ETA: I think you'll be happy with these wicks. The have an excellent burn, and I'm considering switching over to them.
  23. Nice mold, and gorgeous colors you got there! Is it a mottle?
