  1. I love the tilted layers Those are just gorgeous!
  2. Nope, it's Select Shades... I think the problem is my purple velvet. It doesn't change color like it's supposed to.
  3. I have the CandleScience palm... I went ahead and tried the LX 18, and it's too small. It needs at least a 20 or maybe even a 22. I thought about the CSN wicks, but I'm just so used to these LX's. I've always had good luck with them in paraffin and soy, and I'm reluctant to change.
  4. I'm getting a bit disheartened with my soaps. They never seem to turn out like I plan, and swirling in my log mold is not working at all. I think I'm either going to go back to swirling in the pot, whipped soap, or HP. Colors are not behaving either. This is Cucmber Cantaloupe, which was supposed to be green, but ended up blue. That horrible orange is supposed to be a light pink True Love... And I finally got a stamp, so I'm in the process of learning to stamp the soap, which is not as easy as I thought it'd be. I think these were a little too soft when stamped them.
  5. Finally used my 1343 for mottles, and they didn't turn out to badly. I still think I prefer rustics though... The mottling is not consistant enough for me. These were scented palm tree. I also made a couple of frosted palm containers for my mom's b-day. These are scented pineapple coconut. Sorry for grainy pics. My camera battery was going dead.
  6. Jadewicks: As you know, M&P soap is already very hard and somewhat brittle when you unmold it. I've never been able to stamp it consistantly. CP and HP soaps are still a little soft when you unmold them, so they're much easier to stamp.
  7. I got one of these last week. It stamps nicely, but mine was not mounted onto the wood properly. I think after a few more uses, they'll separate and I'll have to remount it... I'm not really impressed with the quality. If it weren't free, I would have complained. This stamp would normally cost $29, and I know mine wasn't worth that much. Your stamps look great, btw!
  8. I ordered some new jars for my frosted container palm. They're the 6 oz. square from CandleScience, and about 2.5" wide. I'm thinking of starting with an LX-18. Thoughts?
  9. Did a couple of batches of soap yesterday. I normally do CPOP, and unmold the next day, But this time I tried RTCP, and didn't allow them to gel. How long will it take for this to harden up enough to unmold and cut? It's been 24 hours so far, and it's just a little firmer than Crisco. Recipe was Crisco, Coconut, Babbasu, Shea Butter, and Castor, so mostly hard oils.
  10. Ditto. It's not the same as Endless Love... However, when I was searching, I found an Elizabeth Arden perfume called True Love. I don't know if it's the same as the FO. I e-mailed TCS, but they haven't replied.
  11. Darn... I really hope I can find it somewhere else. If not, I may have to try mixing my own. But I have a feeling that won't end well. *lol* Oh, and my avatar is just Mischief trying to give kisses. He's such a sweetie.
  12. Nevermind. Found it... Unfortunately, I won't be going. I'm too cheap to pay the $45. *lol*
  13. I like the select shades from Tradewinds. They have printable and online color charts, and they can be mixed to create nearly any color. You can the basic 8 set in 2 oz bottles for $26, and they will last forever! www.twfc.com
  14. It was in the descriptions on the sale scents. That's what stopped me from buying them. All but 2 or 3 clearance oils were for candles only. And the others just had "???" under the body safe section.
  15. Does anyone know of another supplier that carries True Love fragrance? It's a floral of lily of the valley, english rose, and tea leaves... I've checked at all my bookmarked sites, and can't find it anywhere. TCS is who I buy it from now, but they are going to stop stocking it.
  16. celicagtca: The classic formulation is what I use. I tried to new one, and it has more of the bread/bun scent. Still smells nice, but I just think the original is better. I've never tried the SnowTop version. I might get a sample in my next order so I can compare.
  17. CandleScience has them too.
  18. ICS is about the only place I shop for fragrances. The work very nicely in my 70/30 and most B&B stuff too. Their cinna buns is incredible. And I like the lemon meringue, orange chiffon cake, sea blossom, ocean mist, cukes and melons, and lovespell... but I haven't tried those last two since they were reformulated.
  19. Hubby volunteered to make the plexiglass mold for me. So, any ideas about the 3 x 3 square bars in the slab mold? I think I might try to get him to make a 1.5" x 1.5" x 3" bar in an upright too. I saw some japanese soaps of this size, and they are really beautiful when layered.
  20. I need new molds! I'm tired of my soap sticking to my "linerless" plastic molds even when I spray them, and I don't want to spend a lot on silicone liners. I've heard that soap doesn't stick to plexiglass. Does anyone know if that's true? I think I want a slab mold with dividers, because logs just don't swirl as well. Probably 12 bars, but I'm unsure on the bar size. I was kinda thinking of square bars. Would 3" x 3" x 1" be a weird size?
  21. I've read a couple of posts about choosing the options for this stamp, but none that actually say what "type" of die to order. Anyone know? Is it debossing, letterpress, paper embossing, etc.?
  22. Well, I unmolded, and the swirl is dead. Not even a marble. It's more like color blobs than anything. Totally my fault though. I've used this FO w/o problems before. I think I was just a little too impatient yesterday, and soaped it too hot. Been kicking myself all day over that... :rolleyes2 Oh, and I used select shades to color.
