  1. Very nice -- you have some beautiful votives there -- creamy and perfect looking So, BCN sends samples? I just placed my first order with them yesterday -- needed some autumn/xmas scents -- hope they are good. I wanted creme brulee but I didn't have the $$ to buy "extras". I hope they send me a brulee sample!! I want to sniff this now!!!
  2. Those are definitely gorgeous. Do ya think it is worth the extra $$ to use palm wax? I'm so undecided w/ trying new waxes. I definitely get jealous looking at beautiful candles like this because I cannot make anything close to that with my current wax.
  3. Your website looks good, however, i don't like the flash at all. I think it is more "flashy" than informational and it doesn't really add anything to your site. Your photos look awesome...I too like the outdoorsy look to them.
  4. These look great! I have the same duckies and frogs -- from the Dollar Tree as well I love that place....don't you? They look great in your products!
  5. I like the idea of putting them in the molds like this! Great idea -- probably MUCH faster than the regular way (although ornies don't take too long to 'cook'). Also, great burn on the pillar!!!
  6. That is too cute!!! I love whipped wax stuff!
  7. Hey, I like your candles. In some odd way I do agree with you about 70's stuff....but more of a couch my parents used to own. LOL. But, I think you are wayyyy too hard on yourself -- they are very nice....I like them. Kinda like an earthy asian sandlewood kinda look to them.
  8. ooohhhhh yumminess! That looks awesome I'm reeeeally hungry now!!!
  9. ummmm....i've seen worse candles (these actually look nice) and WAY worse photography.....so I think you're being quite hard on yourself. Look on the bright side, keep trying and keep up the good work
  10. Oooh Robin -- that's an interesting idea to print on transparencies. I'll have to try that. I too wonder if it would be too thick. As far as putting a clear piece on the bottom and taping it -- it doesn't work -- I tried taping something onto the main piece and you could see the tape. - Sue
  11. I concur with looking in MS Word...or Excel. Excel actually has some built right in w/o having to download. That's what I used recently when I needed one.
  12. Mine did too! I wish mine came out like this....its awesome! All of them are awesome!
  13. Wow, I wouldn't do much....if anything to your website...it is awesome! Looks very rich and simple -- beautiful
  14. I love these! Great colors, and I bet they smell awesome
  15. These have to be one of my top 5 favorite layered candles that I have ever seen. These are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Thanks for the compliments!!! Yep, some of them sell for lots of moola on ebay. It's not that I can't sell them, its that I haven't -- the baby book was a gift, and the other I made for myself
  17. My friend worked as a canon rep at a store, and he swears by the Canon 760 all-in-one. The problem w/ most printers are that the cartridges are so darn expensive -- for this one, you can get the cartridges for $9.99 each. Yes, they are per color, but they last for a LONG time, and less waste that way. My boyfriend got this printer and I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo jealous. I'm an epson girl at heart (I LOVE anything epson), but this printer is gorgeous and works awesome. It prints on BOTH sides of the paper w/o you having to flip it, it scans/prints, and even has a slot for a camera card....and it can print out an index file of your prints. Then, you can fill in boxes next to the photos you want to print (think of a multiple choice test), stick it in the scanner and it only prints the ones you wanted! It is very cool. Look for good prices at Compusa, circuitcity etc. for when it goes on sale. HTH
  18. If you can, make sure the picture is 300 dpi. In photoshop, do File>New and put the dpi to 300. Make it whatever width/height you want -- for business cards no more than 3" wide I believe. When you save it, save it as a .TIF file. This will give you the best quality w/ the least amount of work. Hope this helps. - Sue
  19. Hey, I'm in the same boat as you -- I'm a web developer, I'm very crafty, and I do scrapbooking, but w/ one difference -- that I'll be selling things very soon. I don't know what to do w/ my talents either, and I agree -- finding web jobs is very difficult. Do you have a website? How about a web portfolio showing your work? Having these can help you get some business. Once you have this, you can advertise yourself to others. Make up some business cards, give them to friends/family and look where you can post your information -- around here some family restaurants have posting boards, and so do colleges and some businesses. Probably not the best ideas, but maybe it is a start. My only other advice would be to work more on the bath/body stuff so you can sell...and go to a small craft show or something. Or, bring some of your current things that you make to work, or give to your mom to do the same. Once people see it, they may want to buy some. Also do the same w/ scrapbooking -- make some cards or something -- something that people could buy. I have a friend that loves my stuff, and everytime he sees me bring something to show, he'll buy it...and he LOVES my cards...and loved some m&p soap I made. Hope this helps. Definitely try ebay too for scrapbooking stuff -- sell some of your extras (as a fellow scrapbooker I KNOW you must have some things you don't need), and maybe make some custom albums (paper bag, etc). Take a look at a few that I made: http://www.theouteredge.com/toe/paperbagbooks/ ... these suckers sell....not that I sold any, but they are very popular. $70 away isn't too far! Good luck! - Sue
