  1. Do you use some sort of mold release spray? I use Pam and haven't had any problems.. course I've only made half a dozen of them...
  2. Those are so cool! How do you make the pie crusts? Are they separate molds?
  3. Well, I don't have a heat gun, but my hubby has a butane torch in the garage... hmmm fire.... Might have to stop at Home Depot too, those things are just driving me nuts! Thanks for the replies!
  4. I tried that at first, but came close to gouging out my eye, then thought I might break the glass...
  5. Sorry for another idiotic question, but how the heck do you get the wick sticky sticker things off the bottom of a container? These are stuck good!
  6. You gotta give this wax a shot. They say to try a range of pouring temps to get different looks. These were poured at 200. Be sure to post the pics too!
  7. Thanks for all the replies!
  8. Sorry about that, sent you a pm! And for anyone else who is interested, Natural Crystal Palm wax from http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Candles&category%5Fname =All%2DNatural+Waxes&product%5Fid=WAX%2DCP
  9. Here's another pic of it. I melted it down again and poured it straight this time. May try the tilted pour again, but not tonite!
  10. Great idea! Now why didn't I think of that? Thanks!
  11. Yup, it sure is. I couldn't smell it at my house, so I took it over to mom's this morning and still nothing. I have to be right there waving my hands in front of it to get any scent. Oh well, guess I'll melt them down and add more!
  12. I use Lone Star Candle Supply's hurricane wax. When I do it correctly (I'm new and not good at this candle thing!), the pic comes out nice. I posted a pic of my wedding photo that I did in the gallery a while back. Link below if you're interested. Haven't tried Peak yet... http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7672&highlight=wedding+hurricane
  13. I think it looks pretty cool, but it wasn't what I was going for. I tried to do blue/light blue at an angle, but it didn't work out like I planned! I still think it's very pretty. When I tipped the mold, the wick pin ended up crooked and I didn't notice this until after I poured. It wouldn't stay straight. So, it's most likely going back in the pot. Can't wick it crooked! Also, I got overpour (again) but was able to remove most of it with an exacto knife. Anyway, thanks for looking! One day, I promise I'll post a pic of a decent candle!
  14. They've actually got smooth tops, doesn't look like it in the pic though. It's just a brainy coloring, I guess. And they don't smell all that much, course maybe it's my nose not working at the moment. I stirred it for a while, but it very well could have used more. I set them on the floor for a pic, so they were right under the a/c vent... that's why that one's flame is sideways! My desk is just too messy for me to take a pic and post it!
  15. Well, if you have a lot of cardboard boxes lying around, you might be able to build a little wall. Or a couple of old mattresses propped up against something heavy (so they don't fall on you). That's about all I can think of right off the top of my head.
  16. Hi there. Made a few containers this afternoon. I used IGI-4630 Harmony blend, a few drops of Peak's coffee color, just over an ounce per pound Chestnuts and Brown Sugar. There is some funkiness going on there, and I'm not sure what it is. Is this normal? It turned out to be a one pour, I had saved some for a 2nd pour, but turns out I didn't need it! So I poured it in 2 votive holders. Anyway, lemme know what you think! Thanks!
  17. I, too heard from a friend that paper towels don't stop hot wax from seeping into carpet when the hubby closes said spigot after hearing the strange "water running" noise... I also hear old cookie sheets work well under the spigot, just in case...
  18. I have sample packs from 3 different places. And, I must say that I was amazed at how MANY came in the pack from Lone Star!! Holy cow! I'm testing votives right now with the palm wax, already have one that's absolutely out of the running!
  19. I've read where the wax type/FO type changes the way it burns. Not sure how to ask this, but for example, if you have a heavy FO, would you need to wick up as opposed to a wick that burns perfectly in an unscented candle? Sorry for being stupid, but I'm so new I'm green! Thanks so much!
  20. I scented it Creme de la Creme, and I had given one to a woman at work. After she had it lit for a while, I smelled it before I got to her office, but it smelled slightly different than it did in the bottle. Seems to be good!
  21. I think it's very cute! My mom would love one of those, so I'd just better not show her this one!
  22. I used Natural Crystal Palm Wax from http://shop.candlesandsupplies.com/candles/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Candles&category%5Fname=All%2DNatural+Waxes&product%5Fid=WAX%2DCP . The wicks are LX 12 in the votives, LX 24 for the pillar. UPS just dropped them off this afternoon, so I HAD to try it! Since the pillar is just a tester, I might try to scrape it off, but when I make the real ones, I'll make sure puppy dog is in another room. Thanks for looking everyone! I think I might start using this wax more.. it's just so pretty!
