  1. I have gone back and forth with this same thing for years! I don't like clamshells even though they are the easiest way to package. I really like kraft brown bags with the window for shapes and also polypro bags. When I do shapes in the polypro bags I like to tie them with a piece of homespun fabric. It's more work though that's for sure but I do love the look. I've been using the chocolate bar molds lately and just put them in polypro zipper bags.

Oh, wow! This is one of my strongest throwers. I'm burning one now in my sun room. 16x16 room off my kitchen which is 16x26 and both rooms smell.

Every other monkey farts I've tried has been stronger and I even saw someone in a facebook group talk about the same thing, they couldn't get their beads soaked in MF and Fruit Loops to have a scent. Maybe we both got bad bottles of both of those. I couldn't get either one from them to throw in beads or wax.

Try Candlewic! Some of their fragrances are meh, but they have a lot of outstanding ones too. I have not been to visit them post-covid, but they used to have samples to smell at their warehouse.

Depending on where you are in the NJ area, they may be close enough for a drive over. They are located in Doylestown PA, about 30 minutes south of Allentown and Bethlem.

I order from them frequently and am pleased more often than not with their oils. And they are my favorite wax supplier.

I love CW too! What oils from them do you like? I love their sugared vanilla shortbread, salted caramel, pomegranate cider, and a few more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.

    Hello all,

I am looking to launch (reed diffuser) my business and looking for a reliable fragrance oil supplier. I was just about to hit payment for Just Scent but somehow, decided to look up reviews on trust pilot and the reviews are horrible!

Can anyone recommend me one in the NJ/NYC area? Preferably local so that I am able to be there in person and test samples and save on shipping. If not, what about an online shop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! This has been so overwhelming when googling suppliers 😐

I've never had a bad experience with Just Scent and they do have some great oils. Like all suppliers they also have duds too. Go to the suppliers by state link on here somewhere (can't remember how to get to it) and there's also a link to suppliers on here. What type of fragrances do you prefer? I've had good and bad from everyone I've ever ordered from. I would check out Fragrance Buddy, Midwest Fragrance oils (a new supplier and they have great customer service and oils), Flaming Candle Company just to name a few.

  5. I've tried some of their oils and like what I've used. I've mostly bought their leather and a couple of Christmas ones that I can't think of right off the top of my head but I think they're as good as most other suppliers. You're going to get good ones and duds no matter who you buy from.

Thank you@Belinda for your help/suggestions.  Chestnuts & BS and Vicks are 2 FO’s from them in my cart. I’ve only tried Tis the Season from FB, do you think it’s similar or better than FB?  I am just looking to add some new stuff for anytime of year bit also for Winter.  I need more FO’s like I need a hole in the head but getting new ones is sooo… fun!  🥰. I know you of all people understand that…. I think we are cut from the same cloth!  😂😂😂.  But truly thanks so much again Belinda!  😇

We defiantly are cut from the same cloth! Have you tried the new fragrance company, Midwest Fragrance Company? They are the bomb! They are releasing 9 new scents tomorrow and everything I've bought from them I like. Their shipping is reasonable too and they're FAST!

I think Tis the Season from TCS is every bit as good as the one from FB and RE. They all smell the same to me honestly.

I forgot to check on those ICS oils and I'm already calling it a night but I will tomorrow Lord willing. I don't think I have to sub tomorrow unless they pull me off my bus because they're so desperate for substitutes but I have a small craft show I plan to do next week so I really need to get some stuff made for that.

I'm gonna be working with 4625, but only with the low MP container waxes for now. I've realized how much of a problem those low-heat Scentsy warmers are gonna be....

I'm 99.99% positive my problems with 4794 as far as the ugly brain look are with the wax itself. It even cools like that in my Presto pot with the lid on. It's not quite as pronounced as it is in the dish and clamshell, but it's there. I'm not gonna worry about it anymore. If I can use it with my new waxes - great! If not, I can still use it for my own personal melts.

I haven't made anything with just that wax lately but I have been blending it with 4786 to smooth it out. If I get a chance this week I'll try to pour some wax with it alone and see how it does. You might've just got a weird batch or they've changed something in it maybe. If you use it in clams just add some softer wax to it to smooth it out.

Thank you for responding @lightmyfireIt seems like CS has been really light with responses lately.  🥺

in any event, I will surely add it back onto my order. Any suggestions for Millcreek or The Candle Source by chance?  Thanks again!

I'm looking on their site now and they have a good butt naked, monkey farts, chestnuts and brown sugar, fresh peach, fruit blast, oatmeal milk and honey, salted caramel, sugared cranberries, tis the season, vicks vapor rub, warm vanilla sugar. I have a few more by them but these are what sticks out in my head. I'll sniff what else I have from them tomorrow. I love their tart wax but shipping is too high to me to use it so I don't really order much from them anymore and they don't really have many oils that I can't get somewhere else where I can get wax.

Yup that's the one. I know of numerous chandlers who also use 4794 for containers. Makes a kick butt candle but since it shrinks it tends to rattle in a container. I think Thompson Candle Co uses it as well.

I have both of those waxes so I might try mixing them and see how it goes. I've used the two mixed for tarts and love it so I'm anxious to try with a candle. Thanks for the info!

Your posts were some that I can remember when reading thru the Wickless board because I remember you said something about the 4794 not lasting long. Also sing your choice in 4625/4630 mix along with a few others that think alike helped me to make the decision to get those 2 and 4633 as my next testers. It's like night and day with those waxes! But I'm glad I have something to mix with the 13-15lbs of 4794 I have left. Just the addition of 25% of some very old pillar palm I found completely got rid of the ugly "brains."

I will have to test 4794 again on it's own to see what my results are. What I used to think was that the wax itself was the major factor in longevity and throw but now I honestly believe the oils are the number one factor. That's not to say that some waxes or wax combinations won't throw better or longer than others.

I really did like 4625/4630 combo but always had trouble with it not coming out of the clamshell as easy as 4625/6006 does and the tops are so pretty with the 6006 combo. For a stand alone shape I don't like to mix either of those container waxes with my hard wax because I just can't stand the smudges. I don't know why that bothers me so bad since it's just going to melt anyway LOL!

Now you've got me wanting to test 4794 against 4625 again. I do like 4625 for shapes, chunks or bark but I can't stand the way it flakes and it only does that with some scents.  Does it ever end! 🤣

  11. 11 hours ago, LilFirecracker said:

Belinda, I wasn't having trouble with the throw at all. In fact, it was pretty great! It's the longevity I was having trouble with. And the ugly way it cools, even in the warmer. Cotton Blossom from LS was the only one I could barely get 24hrs out of. The rest were 5-6 hours. The others I tested were Plumeria, Patchouli, Fireside, Irish Spring, Lavender, and a couple others from LS. Also Gardenia, Dragon's Blood (doesn't smell right), Clean Cotton (not right either), and Vanilla Bean (bitter smell) from C&S. I'd love to try CS oils, but shipping is outrageous for me. Still searching....LOL.

Oh wow, I would think those scents would've thrown for a long time or at least that's what my experience has been with clean or floral scents.

I wonder if it's the wax? Maybe a bad batch. I've had some ripples when using 4794 alone but not like what you're getting. I have some so I might mix it up and see if it does what yours is doing.

  12. My favorite combo for clamshells as far as the way it looks is a 50/50 of 4625 and 6006. The tops are smooth and flat. I also like a combo of 4794 and KY or Flaming para/soy tart wax. I also blend 4794 or 4625 with 4786. I don't care for 4625 alone for chunks or shapes because of the way it flakes. Blending it with KY wax or 4786 seems to make it not flake so bad.

I agree with Moonshine about Lone Star FO's. They do have a few that I love and will order but they have several that I'm not impressed with.

What FO did you use? I would think it's probably the FO because 4794 should throw.

@Belinda, I stumbled across a test candle of Rustic's Toasted Marshmallow yesterday that I had forgotten I even had. 😆

It's pretty similar to Aztec's Toasted Marshmallow.  Rustic's might be richer, but it's hard to say for sure because my two test candles are both different and 2-3 years old, but the scent is definitely in the same ballpark.

Thank you! Good to know. I went ahead and ordered the one from RE but I do order from Aztec so I'll keep them in mind. Thank you for the information!

Hi Belinda.  The  bags are the self seal and measure 2 1/2 x 4 1/2.   Perfect fit. .  After sealing, I put the warning label over the seal  to ensure it stays closed.   And yes, $2 is a fair price along with 3 for $5 .

I never thought about offering 3 for $5! That's a great idea! I ordered some more of those molds from Amazon and plan to phase out clams as soon as I run out!

Elements toasted marshmallow is very good- I don’t use it often not liking sweet/food scents much and I wish I could tell you they were the same but I’m not sure on that either ….it’s been a long time since I tried the ah/re version, I settled on elements for some reason

Thanks! I haven't ordered from Elements in a long time. I might have to try theirs.

  16. Have any of you ever found a scent that smells like Rustic's toasted marshmallow? Is this a scent that another supplier names something else or one that's only offered by them? They do have a couple that I haven't found anywhere else but their shipping has gone up again and I hate to pay such a high price if I can get this from another supplier. Thanks!

Hey nice to meet you!! I’m in South Florida, but it’s always nice to connect with Floridians no matter where they are in the State!

I was pretty active on Craftserver….until the word “Coronavirus” was first introduced. I have multiple autoimmune diseases with Lupus being #1. I have totally fell off this site and even my FB sites that I’m Admin!

I hope to turn over a new leaf (no pun intended) and get back into my FO/wax addiction!

I know zero about MJ being legal here but being I suffer from chronic pain, I’m very interested.

BTW I do not make candles nor wax melts (long story) but I’m a fragranceaholic! Or a Scentaholic!!!

Could you DM me about this legalization please?!?  When you have time; no rush.

I’m not a Narc LOL. I’ve been connect with @Belinda for over a year now! She can attest to my not being a Fed working for ICE!!! LOL.

BTW hey @Belinda! Hope you are well!!

I am still DYING to find an oil or oils to make the Better Homes & Gardens “A Wonderful Winter!” Also ScentSationals just launched their new website and now they sell the some scents online only. However: they sell a 5-scent (10 clams in total) on the Walmart website and I hear they are to die for!!!!

Glad to be back!! Love this new Section for New Scents but that old AWW scent is my nemesis!!!!

Wax melts, candles, etc Admin for 2 FB Groups (not sure I can post links) that are good for picking up scent notes that are hot this year!

Hey Karen! I'm glad you're doing better! I am doing well. I have been searching for your favorite wax scent and haven't had any luck finding it. Is it out for this season already? If so I would love to sniff it and maybe there's some oil that I have out of the hundreds of oils that smells like it!

@candlesinflorida, she's legit! Hopefully this could help her with some of her with her autoimmune illness.

  18. Most of those I can't help you with but Texas Candle Supply has a great smelling leather (I mean, if you like that smell) and so does Lone Star but I honestly prefer the one from Texas. I live in Texas and it's very popular here.

For leaves, to my nose the one called Autumn leaves from Bitter Creek and the one called Fallen Leaves from RE remind me of real leaves more than the bath and body works dupe. I hope that helps!

  19. Agree with what everyone else said. My personal favorites are Natures Gardens, Midwest Fragrance Company (new company and very fast shipping, great FO's, best customer service), Fragrance Buddy (they have some great pumpkin scents, best Mulberry I've found), Nature's Items has some good Fo's and they have all been good to my nose, Candle Science, Aztec, Candle wic, Flaming, Bitter Creek North, these are all going to have some great FO and some not so great. I would defiantly buy samples from them. Some of my favorite per supplier for the holidays are

    Dicken's Christmas-Lone Star,-they have a nice mulberry too

Mulberry, Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Vanilla Marshmallow, Cinnamon Broom from Fragrance Buddy,   (there are more but can't think off the top of my head)

Just Scent-Cinnamon Crunch Cake, Christmas Wish,

Pumpkin Pie and All Hallow's Eve-Bitter Creek

Christmas Mulberry-Cajun Candles-they also have the best cream brûlée in my opinion

Mrs. Claus Cookies, Bayberry, cinnamon Buns,Gingerbread from Nature's Garden

Orange Spice, Alpine Cheer, Pumpkin Peanut Brittle-from Flaming,

Pumpkin Peanut brittle from Aztec and Fragrance Buddy

    Harvest Pumpkin-Cierra-my favorite pumpkin

Tis The Season-Flaming, FB or Rustic

    Bayberry & Silver Oak-Flaming

Apple Cider Donut-Candle WIC or Flaming

North Pole and pumpkin apple butter-Flaming

    Hansel and Gretels House-Flaming

Harvest Gathering from Flaming and Fragrance buddy
