  1. One of the best leather FO's I've tried and I've tried a lot of them! I haven't put it in wax but it soaked up very nice in aroma beads and smells very authentic. It's very close to the one from Lone Star and Texas Candle Supply only I have a hard time getting the one from LS to soak up in beads. This one is authentic and soaks up well. I ordered two large bottles since people here in Texas love leather!

I think I've had a small bottle of her marshmallow fluff but I honestly don't remember what it was like. Fragrance Buddy has a great one and Rustic Escentuals Toasted Marshmallow is great too but there's not a toasted note to it. The one from Fb almost smells like Vanilla Bean Noel to my nose but I love it.

I stopped POB a while back. Switched to an all paraffin blend which was then discontinued. Now I blend my own.

I think the initial throw with all paraffin is a little better but it tends to taper off fairly fast. Also depends on warmer used. The hotter the warmer the faster it goes. IMO

Thanks! I've been going back and forth for 10 years now on which wax I want to use for shapes, candles and clams. KY para/soy is probably the best for all three of those but I hate the cure time due to soy. UGH!!! What to do! Oh well, I have a hard time making my mind up on just about anything so why should this be any different LOL! I just don't want to have to buy 3 or 4 different waxes and I keep reading where paraffin has the stronger throw but to be honest with you I've not been able to tell a difference between all paraffin and the para/soy mix. Could just be me though.

I know this post is old, but have you ever tried Sea Witch from Pure Fragrance Oils? It's one of the scents from the original Moonworks oils. It's different from the usual "rain" scents we get elsewhere. I love it! And it has real staying power too!

Thanks! I may have to give it a try.

It's most likely OOS at the moment. They remove the listing when something is OOS instead of marking it OOS.

Lizzy, what wax do you use now if you don't use pillar of bliss anymore? Do you find that all paraffin throws better than a para/soy blend? Thanks!

I love the smell of pillar of bliss as well as KY wax and 650 from Flaming LOL! I know that sounds weird but it smells so good to me out of the bag.

I came across New York Scent while recently looking for luxurious frangrance oils. They seem to have a good selection with lots of scents. Has anyone ever ordered any fragrance oils from them? I would love to know more about the quality of their oils. Any information would be appreciated.       https://newyorkscent.com/

Like Lizzy said, they're just like any other FO company. I've ordered from them and liked what I got. You might want to try Midwest Fragrance Co. Studio, Flaming, and others also. Midwest is growing by leaps and bounds and offer great products with great customer service. I've liked what I got from Studio also. You'll find good and bad from each one. Midwest has a facebook page with almost a cult following LOL! They really do have some good oils and the owners are the sweetest.

@MelissaG Ooh now I want some Petrichor. I love the that smell when it first starts to rain. No rain FO I've ever bought has smelled remotely like the real thing.

Is that what it smells like? I've never heard that word before either LOL! I would like a rain scent but like you, I've never found one that smells like rain. They're a clean floral type smell to me but not rain.

Ok this might sound a little "out there," but I'm asking anyway. Even though I make melts, I posted in "General" hoping for more exposure since this is just about my wax only. A few months ago I went back and started re-testing paraffin wax combos for my melts. I see a lot of crafters looking for a nice shine, but I'm looking for more of a matte finish. I had a happy accident where 2 of my combos ended up with a very nice, high-quality eggshell/matte finish. It only worked with certain FOs though, and once I added my liquid dye to the mix - some shine started to show.

This question is for anyone who makes candles or melts - doesn't matter. Is there any kind of process or some sort of additive that would dull that shine that most waxes have? If it helps, I'm testing different percentages of blends that include 4786 & 4633 - with and without CO, using 5-10% as part of the total percentage.

It seems like the CO might be playing a part in getting it matte, but I don't think using it is working for me which is why now I'm asking if anyone knows of a way to achieve a matte finish any kind of way.

If I remember correctly 133 from KY might be a little more on the not so shiny side. I'll have to pour some to make sure. You might add just a tad of soy to your mix or switch the 4633 to 6006 maybe? I know you'd rather use all paraffin though and I can't blame you there.

I've also found that the mold has something to do with how shiny mine turn out. If I use a grubby, silicone mold they tend to be not so shiny but a smooth mold seems to show the shine more.

It does seem that way! I joined their group, but I'm holding off on ordering samples from anywhere at all for a while. I still have around 30 samples from Candle Cocoon to test.

I've been holding off too but Fragrance Buddy had a 25% off sale and I just couldn't resist! I have drawers of samples I'll never use and bottles falling off the shelves because there's no more room but I just can't pass up a sale, especially not a 25% off one with free shipping!

Studio Fragrance! That's the other company I was trying to think of earlier that's one I plan on trying in the future along with Midwest Fragrance! @Marleigha I think it was you that was telling me about them when we were talking about Pure. Glad I finally remembered because it's been bugging the hell out of me for the past couple of hours.

Midwest has great oils and customer service and the owners are the sweetest people!

I saw RE has an oil called Campfire Marshmallow too besides the toasted marshmallow, I'm imagining that being good too. Do you have any recommendations for where to get the marshmallow fireside dupe? There are alot of companies that make that one and I haven't been able to narrow it down much.Thank you so much for your reply

I've had marshmallow fireside from Just Scent and Midwest Fragrance Co. and both are good dupes. I would recommend trying some of Midwest oils. They have some new ones coming out soon, June I think, and they are a wonderful company. Great oils and great customers service and shipping is reasonable. New York Scent and Studio Fragrance both have it also but I don't think I've tried theirs but they do have some good oils too.

I'm looking for a good burnt Marshmallow fragrance oil for homemade roll on perfume. I want something super sweet and gooey marshmallow with a hint of smoke or campfire, maybe even a hint of cocoa or chocolate. I am thinking of ordering a couple rustic essentials Marshmallow scents and mixing. But am curious as to which anyone else has tried.  Strong is a must and no after chemically smell.

RE's marshamllow is wonderful but it doesn't have a toasted note. The one from FB is good also but I don't detect any toasted notes in it either. How about marshmallow fireside? That's a B&BW's dupe and it smells really good.

@Jcake90, Seems like Toasted Marshmallow from Rustic Escentials has gotten good reviews on this forum. I used to have some and I thought it was good, but I don't remember it having much of a 'toasted' smell. (But it's been a few years since I smelled it.)

A couple of marshmallow scents on Fragrance Buddy's site have good reviews, and they're having a good sale right now. I'm thinking of ordering the Marshmallow Fluff for Hot Chocolate & Marshmallow candles.

I have marshmallow fluff from FB and it's great but it almost makes me wonder if they got it mixed up with VBN because it smells like it to me. What kind of sale are they having? Is it their regular 25% off sale?

  14. Some of the newer companies I've tried are Midwest (excellent scents and customer service), New York Scent, Studio, Pro Candle supply, Scented Expressions, and Natures Fragrances. I haven't really bought much lately since I haven't been making much and have so many bottles that have never been used but those are some of the newer to me companies that I've ordered from lately.

Forgot to mention that I ordered from VCS just last week and just grabbed a few samples to try. They are new to me. I saw a few bakery and seasonal scents that sounded good. I'm heavily into country primitive scents so I am always looking for those types of scents.

I love those same type of scents too as well as Colonial/Primitive decor!

Have you tried Pilgrims Pie from NG? It's a really good primitive type scent. Their clove is also the best I've ever tried.

The Strawberry sounds good, but I still have 2 or 3 different strawberries from various companies. Strawberry scents don't sell very well for me. I like the Sweet Strawberry I got from Flaming Candle, but I think my favorite was Strawberry Shortcake I got from Candlescience several years ago.

Oh yes! I loved strawberry shortcake from CS but they discontinued it. I think I've seen dupes of it though but can't remember where.

@Belindathanks so much for the input.  I was thinking about getting Hansel & Gretel's house.  I used to love CS version but I don't like it as much since their reformulations.  Have you ever tried the CS one?

I have a bottle of their old formula from CS but haven't tried their new one. I've heard it's not as good.

If my memory serves me right the one from NG smells like the old one from CS.

If I ever order from MC again, I'm going to get Oatmeal Cookie since you love it so much. I'm out of their Grandma's Kitchen but have to wait until I need others too.

Besides my cabinets are so full of FO's I would have to find another place to put more, so I'm trying to slow down. You know how that goes. :)

    I can defiantly relate LOL!

I just got a VERY small order from Maple Street because I wanted to try this oil called Strawberry macaron with vanilla whip and if I'm not mistaken their oatmeal cookie is the same as the one from Millcreek. I need to put it in wax though. The strawberry one I got from MS smells great but it's very close to strawberry pound cake. Both are so yummy!
