Bottlecrafters
I am new to candle making. I would like to hone in on 5-7 fragrances to start out. If you could choose only 5 fragrances (the most popular sellers), which would you choose?
debratant
That's tough to call. I guess I would choose 5 fragrances from each catagory, although there are many catagories of scent.I would start with a spa scent....I like Rain Water from Candle ScienceBakery...creme brulee (sp)fruity....some type of berryflowery...maybe lilaca clean scent...like clean cotton is always a hit
8-GRAN-ONES
i would also start with 1oz sampler size fo's.the CT and HT will vary depending on your type of wax, and wicks. That way you are not throwing a lot of money away, if a fo is not compatible, with your wax..Just because one person reports that they have a fantastic HT with a certain fo, doesn't mean that you will get the same results..as there are so many variables between wax.Get ready for a lot of testing, and spending a lot of money...lolbut it is such a fun hobby, or if you want to make it a business, that would be fun too..but i warn you..it is addicting..there is mostly always a sale going on some where on fo's..i think Peaks is having one..on their samplers..they are a very good and reputable company..and their prices are very good even without a sale..Also check the search..put in your type of wax..and i am sure you will find lots of info.. Mountain Soy Candle
Peaks has a sale for colorants till the end of the month not their samples. Candlewic is having the sale on samples at this time.Mike

Scented
I'll start by asking what you like first. Since you're just starting out I would get fragrances you like.
Candybee
Unfortunately there's no way you will know what sells for you until you put it out there to sell. Having said that, I'd go with what Scented said. Pick out ones you like especially since you are just starting out. It will be easier to test ones you like.
