  1. Same here. We had the last 2 cases out of 5 cause Problems. I know they were fresh because I was waiting at the supplier as the truck pulled in. Our problems were wicking. Thank god we test every batch because we had to wick up for whatever reason. Temeratures in the shop were the same as usual and the fragrance was from the same batch as the previous boxes of wax..I wanted to trash it because I was so aggrevated but didnt because we had orders to fill from a show. Banged my head against the wall for days trying to understand it. Drove me CRAZY!!!!! Keeping a close eye on it... Mike
  2. We pull the plug on it when done. I agree it doesnt take long to melt after it hardens.
  3. I saw pallets with Hobby Lobby stickers on them when I picked up an order at Candlewic. I asked the guy at the loading dock and he said they ship them quite a bit of wax.
  4. Love it. It looks so clean and professional and you have so much to show and it doesnt look like clutter.
  5. We dont sell online either. We do just fine with word of mouth and dont have to worry or have the time to package and ship.
  6. WRONG AGAIN!!! Thats not my facebook page or my Blog. You should go back to google and get your facts straight. Better yet here ya go. http://www.facebook.com/mountain.soycandle. This is the second time you have accused me of putting crap on the internet about my candles. Think you would have learned the first time I proved you wrong. Apology accepted.
  7. Again my question is how has YOUR business been affected? Rhetorical or not. I have a Scentsy rep on my road, a Yankee Candle store within miles of me and my best friends wife sells Parylite and has parties where both our customers/friends attend and buy from. I dont get mad at them for affecting my sales nor do I bash them. I dont attack them because of what they choose to sell. Its business and its their business not mine. Thats the difference here. In business you research your competitor, not bash their products, it makes you look weak and shows lack of conidence in your own product. If you want to be the Soy Police speak to the individuals you have found that spew what you dont like and approach them personally. Dont put all soy chandlers in the same pool thats all I ask. Theres no reason for you to constantly police forums to basically start arguments. Listen to people just on this thread about how you react. Are they all liars too? I dont think thats the case. There are ways to go about getting your message across rather than being nasty about it. In your own words you stated about a person who clashed with so many others and that people were fed up with it, well the same rule appiles here. No Its not my opinion that Paraffin chandlers should stay off this forum but It shouldnt be tolerated that a perosn (YOU) should always snipe Soy posts with the same old story and create the same drama. It gets really old fast. I come here to enjoy and learn about the business not hear the same old crap about soy people doing this and soy people doing that. I read ALL posts in these forums regardless what I sell because I want to know about the business from whatever aspect it comes from.
  8. Funny thing is that YOU are the only one not getting along with others in a forum that doesnt even pertain to your business. You constantly accuse Soy chandlers of lying to their custmers just because you saw it on a few websites. Your stereotyping everyone here. How can you expect people to get along with you if you continually bash soy chandlers? This has gone on long enough and the moderators should have stepped in long ago!! Honestly, how much paraffin business have you lost to soy?
  9. Same here for us. Its hit and miss.
  10. Unfortunately we are all in the same boat when it comes to soy HT. I have played out the same scenario hundreds of times in my head on what to do. For me, when I find a home run scent I try to have stock made so that I can be assured that its been sitting for at least a month in my storage area. We base our inventory on that rule. If its something you have to pour quickly for the weekend it obviously doesnt apply. We dont burn our testers for at least the same amount of time and wont introduce any new scents until that time period has passed. If after a month I can't get a strong HT out of a tester, its outta here and I move on. I have had customers comment that the candle smelled very strong to the end but never had a complaint of weakness. It may sound crazy but we ordered some new spring scents last week and I will pour them and stick them in the storage room with the date on them and burn them in mid January. I only use 415 in our containers.
  11. We have had several customers asking for pillars for the holidays and we dont offer them yet . We are going to start testing for next year after the holidays when things calm down a bit. My question is on wicking. Primed or raw? I have been researching it and it seems like some use primed and some use raw. Is there any benefit to either one over the other? I will be testing with PB and LX wicks but dont want to order the wrong type. Lord knows we have many boxes of wrong items!! Mike
  12. Just to clarify Hexane is not deadly! It's also used in farm vegetables that we all eat. It's primarily made through the refining of petroleum. There is also no proof that it causes cancer! It's relative toxicity is extremely low and it's used to extract oil for corn and peanuts also. It's also used in baby formulas, protein drinks and alternative vegetarian foods so I highly doubt it's deadly. It comes from the same base as paraffin. Petroleum.
  13. Last I checked this post was strictly about soy and not paraffin so why are we even arguing the point. It's the same old thing soy users and paraffin users arguing on what's better or worse. Some more than others. I could care less what sells or grows wherever and what it takes to harvest. I use soy, always have and always will. I have spent numerous hours and a ridiculous amount of money learning the system and couldn't afford to change now. Besides, sales make me keep making more. Like I've said previously promote your product and don't waste so much time and energy putting down someone else's product. What works for you may not work for me. It's not the wax that makes a sucky candle it's the chandler who doesn't care enough to put out a great product.
  14. I would stick to the explanation of your own product and not go into all the comparisons between Soy and Paraffin. Present and promote your products only!
  15. Same problem here. Open floor plan with 20 foot high ceilings. Our hot throw always goes up and it I turn on the ceiling fans I will smell it otherwise only if you walk by. We never test in the main part of the house anymore for this reason. We use a 16x20 family room at the farthest end of the room and if it throws well in there we are happy. I am talking about jar candles only.
  16. Left the name as is and sells well but I am laughing pretty hard right now!
  17. I buy them from lonestar and don't know if theres a shelf life or not but I just finished a box that I had for almost a year and a half and they are still sticking fine. As far as the wicking tool not fitting your jars. I had to modify ours by sanding some of the plastic off for status jars so it fits snug or the wicks will be off center each time. I did this for the 12oz and 8 oz jars.
  18. We use glue dots and never had one come off yet. Even when you get to the bottom of the candle you still have to scrub it off. Hth.
  19. 2nd for Peaks Mid Summer Night. Throws great in 415.
  20. forgot to mention that you need an order of at least $75.00 to get the 30% off.
  21. Candlewic has them also and they have a 30% off shipping until tomorrow!!
  22. I love reading these posts about Soy Vs Paraffin. I chuckle because I have never ever used anything but Soy and started with 415 and still use it today. I have tried other soys from numerous companies but for OUR system its 415. We sell candles and cant ever say that someone said to us that their paraffin candle was toxic and our soy wasnt. maybe because we are in the sticks not many candle makers around? We dont advertise that our candle burns cleaner or better but I will always tell people that our system works and it does! We color and scent our candles and dont add anything to try and alter appearance! Like I've said in the past thank god for full time jobs or we could never afford all the money we have spent to do the research and to get our business where it is today. You can put down another product over yours and that is "dirty selling" but you look alot more professional if you promote your own truthfully! We did a couple of shows this year where people who came to our booth told us that soy candles were no good because they grow white mold. That was the best one I heard! After explaining the characteristics of soy and frosting some actually purchased our candle and we have had return business because of it. Sales 101 will tell you that competition will do whatever it takes to make their product sound superior over another but, research will usually prove them wrong 100 percent of the time and they look foolish. As far as the soot myth yes all candles soot but the consumer only knows soot that they see on a overwicked candle. That can happen to any overwicked candle regardless of what type.
  23. We use Online Labels #OL996ck clear gloss. They are 3"x2" and have rounded corners. Looks very clean. HTH
