At what temp do you add FO to wax?

The company I get my soy wax from says to melt wax to 160-175 then add FO at around 160. I just read on another message board to add FO at 140. Would the 20 degrees difference in temp make a difference in how the candle smells? Curious what temp everyone adds the FO at. Thanks.

I personally don't add FO at any temp. lower than 175......I found too many times adding at a lower temp the FO doesn't bind with the wax, especially your heavier oils like vanilla, etc. I think 160 would be fine, I wouldn't go any lower.

I heat my wax to about 180-185, dump it in a pour pot then add my FO. I think at 160 is fine, I wouldn't be concerned about it.

I add mine between 170-175. I usually do not go any lower than 165 to insure that the FO mixes in well.

I don't measure temperature much but I do watch the wax and oil in the pour pot carefully.. if you notice at lower temps you can see an oily effect in the wax. I make sure everything is hot enough so the oily effect goes away thats when I turn the heat off....

Not sure that answers your question but that is my method. I do measure temps when testing but after that I just eyeball it.

I add my FO around 165-170. I think it really makes a difference to add the FO at a higher temp rather than lower like is usually suggested. I just know that when I started to add the FO at the higher temps, I smelled an improvement in the throw.

with EZ-soy, i melt to 175* add the fo right away, then cool to 100* to pour. ading fo at a higher temp is the only way to ensure the wax and oil bind properly.

I add fo to EZSoy at 175 -180 -- I think if you're stirring really well you will notice a considerable difference going higher than 160 & a huge difference from 140.
