CareBear
anyone else have trouble with this?I made a log with SW's Pink Sugar and ended up with gritty soap. It didn't show up for a week or so I think, though I'm not positive about that.Anyone else?
8-GRAN-ONES
me too...not bad enough that it can't be used..but I made some with and without..I like the smell better without vs...I am not going to use it anymore..I have had grittyness before in Fo's withoutuseing vs..so it may not always be caused by vs.
singleyellowrose
I have used it but not at the ratio it says too. I don't have any grittiness in my soaps... yet. I will try it this week in a tester batch of PS and see how it performs. Will try to remember to report back.

Faye_SC
I used it last night, and I have used it before, and have never noticed it being gritty.I will try a bar of this new batch in a week or two and see how it feels.I never mix mine with the fo, like most do. Just measure and pour.
Scented
So if not using at 1:1, is it worth 1/2 the load of stabilizer to an oz. of FO? (Asks the person who thinks she'd love it more than TD, but hasn't used it for the rumor of the gritties.)
singleyellowrose
I just made a batch the other night of Peaks French Vanilla and Amber. I used 1 FO:1/2 VSI used it on a previous batch about 2 months ago and it kept it to a tan color. Which was fine with me. I never noticed any grittiness on those bars. I will try it with PS at that rate and see how it plays.
guppygirl
I've used it in a few batches, even pink sugar and haven't had any grittiness issues. Actually I just used it today in IFT's Flowerbomb - I'll post pics if I can get my camera batteries to charge. Pink Sugar can crystallize so IMHO it's the FO. wildangel112
I've used it in Peak's Pink Sugar, NG's Warm Vanilla Sugar as well as a yummy blend I did of WVS & Flicker's Patchouli Honey. No grittiness issues in any of them. Rena
bugtussle
Lots of gritties here with IFT Pk Sugar, mixed 50/50. I made a batch last week with 1 oz PS and 1/2 Oz VS. Will try it later this week. Grit forms after about 10 days. The soap is not real dark, kinda beige color. Could live with it, just don't like grit/crystals. Used VS in Van Bean Noel and got light cream bar & no grit. Sharon in KY
I've used it in a few batches, even pink sugar and haven't had any grittiness issues. Actually I just used it today in IFT's Flowerbomb - I'll post pics if I can get my camera batteries to charge. Pink Sugar can crystallize so IMHO it's the FO.I have had your PS soap with the FO modifier for over a year and it is still beautiful pretty pink and light cream color. Not gritty at all. None of your soaps are gritty.
Burnt Mill
I haven't noticed a problemI had one person who noticed grits in my Vanilla Stabilizer BCN pink sugar bar, but I noticed after I made that batch and shipped out that my pink sugar FO actually had crystals in the bottom of it. Some extra exfoliation I guess but I have used it in many other bars so far with good luck
bugtussle
Wierd!!!!!!!! The 2nd batch of PS soap I made with Van Stab definitely had gritties. I packed it in a box after it cured and now it has no gritties to speak of. They like disappeared. Everyone check your soaps, maybe they degrit with time. This soap was made end of July or Aug. Carole
leisa2003
I just bought some vs from WSP, and I was wondering what some of you might suggest on how much of this to use pp of soap?
CareBear
don't know about that one. the instructions for the Bitter Creek one is to use an amount equal to your FO.
socoolsoap
I have not had any grittiness in my bars. But I did notice that any fo high in vanilla and using a colorant like pink fd&c dyes actually turned my soap more orange than pick, without the browning. Also, just a thought here, but have you ever noticed any crystals in your fo to begin with? I know sw's pink sugar does adn they even have a disclaimer on ht bottle of vanilla based fo's and crytalization occurring. This may be the culprit and not the stabilizer after all. Just a thought. vberkesch
So far I have used the vanilla stabilizer in OMH and Gingersnap and I'm sorry to say, but I'm not very happy. Both just don't have the same wonderful smell to the soap. I'm thinking I would rather have brown soap than sacrifice the wonderful smell of the FO's. Burnt Mill
how long had it been since you made the soap?it usually takes a day or two before it turns back into the real FO I find.maybe give it some time then judge
CareBear
When I made the batch with the crystals it gelled. But I had extra that I poured off into a little mold and that didn't gel. It did, however, form the crystals/grit anyway. So we can eliminate gel from the equation.ETA: the soap is well over a month old and crystals abound.
