SMartin
How does every one get their soaps shiny?
jenniejr
What do you mean by 'shiny'?Are you taling about the color or the soap itself? If you are talking about the color, it might be because they use a mica that's shiny. If you have a pic of the 'shiny' soap ... that would help. SMartin
Just the bars. It seems like in some of the pics the bars are shiny.
jenniejr
Are you looking at the already cut bars?If so, I am going to stick with the coloring they used.If there is more to add, I am sure someone else will chime in and help out.
Scent Cellar
Some people give their soap bars an alcohol buff to make them shiny and other rinse them off under running water and then dry them. Way too much trouble for me.
jbren
I use alcohol on some that don't shine by themselves, but I just spritz and let air dry. No buffing.
Carrie
What kind of soap are you talking about. M&P is almost always shiny but CP soap (at least mine) isn't typically shiny.
eugenia
I spritz mine with alcohol and buff to a shine.e
GrandmaArial
I rinse mine and gently rub with a facial brush to remove any ash (wait about 3 weeks after pouring, the longer the better)… then set on a rack and allow to air dry. Harder recipes and gelled soap seem to get shiniest.
mystical_angel1219
CP will have a shiny finish if u spray with alcohol and buff with a piece of pantyhose. Sounds silly, but it works.
7 Pawz
A good question--and fantastic answers:grin2: I never really thought about soap being shiny much less how to make it shiny, at least now I know how. thanks all
SatinDucky
I've had one batch come out shiny. It was after rinsing under water though. None of the other recipes did that so I figured it might be the sunflower oil maybe? No buffing, just a rinse and left to air dry. I didn't know cp could be that shiny! beau's mama
OK, CP noob here Why would you want your soap shiny? Does it add to the look of it? Feel smoother?
heirloomoriginals
I like my shiny soaps better than unshiny, LOL. I get mine to shine by rinsing them under water. If there is a lot of ash, I scrub some of the ash off just to make it look a bit nicer.Steph

WildflowerMama
Rinsing and canola in your recipe both produce a super shiny bar!
