I have a couple I need to melt down and re wick because they didn't come out right and wanted to try rustics again but for some reason I am just not in the mood. What's wrong with me? Camay Posted January 3, 2008 Share Posted January 3, 2008 I had the entire week off from Christmas to New Years. I planned to make zillions of candles, but I didn't even make one. I never got the inspiration. I don't know, sometimes I just don't feel like making candles, and other times, every flat surface in my house is littered with candle equipment. I just go with the flow. But if you're really addicted to candles, it'll come back eventually Usually if I'm not feeling inspired or just wandering around, I go out and start cleaning my shop. TiffTiff89 Posted January 3, 2008 Author Share Posted January 3, 2008 I am sure part of it is I work full time and my manager is a witch... I usualy get in a bad mood during my 5 day work week. That's the whole reason I wanted to get into candles. I got a kit as a gift at a C-Mas party and I was hooked from there. I'd really like to turn this into a business. I think I am doing ok. I have read a lot of people on here not liking 4630 but I have done well with it and CD wicks. I pretty much have small container candles down. Now that I understand the make up of the candle's structure, the rest falls in to place with minor tweeking here and there to accomidate FO's. For those of you that do have a successful Candle business... how long did it take you? I am impatient as hell.... but am realizing that good things come to those who wait!(sorry for rambling! TiffTiff89 Posted January 3, 2008 Author Share Posted January 3, 2008 The trouble I am having with the wax is not with CD Wicks, it's other wicks I experimented with, I should have said that differently. I was just experimenting with other wicks (Mainly HTP) and was having problem wicking that. Not strong enough scent throw or MP. I was trying to get others feedback on CD wicks so I could decide if I wanted to stay with them or keep experimenting with others. Every other thread is about marbles, rustics, 4630's, etc.Slow down - focus on one candle at a time. You are too new to be candled out IMO. Vio Posted January 4, 2008 Share Posted January 4, 2008 I promised myself that I wouldn't move onto anything new, until I've somewhat perfected what I'm working on. I figure it's the best thing to do for safety sake, sanity sake, and also to have an exceptional candle that everyone wants. I've got 1 type of wax, 1 additive, 1 type of dye, 1 container type and lots of them, and 11 FO's. I got sick so I got behind on things and had to rest, but when I get back to it soon, I'm still working on testing that 1st FO. I probably will be testing that one FO for a while too to get the most burn time from my candle with desired characteristics. I started to research in Oct, and if you see my sig, I didn't even melt wax till then and even then, only 1 candle for first test. Just one candle made here since Oct, start of research. That one candle was enough to tire my mind a little, as wicking is so very challenging. Not saying you should do the same, but this is what I'm doing, taking it extremely slow. Even after my first, now that I've experienced it, back to reading non stop. But that's me. I wouldn't be able to do the things you're doing. I think I'd be fried too from it. It's kind of getting annoying. No Offense. I understand why you would, but I don't know how else to prove to that I am not, except to invite you to stay the night at my house. Which ain't happenin'! As far as I know, this Sparkette lives somewhere on the west coast of Washington. Well I am on the other side of the state. 2 miles away from Idaho to be exact. I was actually only working with two different waxes. 4630 and Soy. But then got an itch to try rustics after I visited a WalGreens and saw them there. THAT is the only reason I tried it, it looked easy enough. Boy... was I wrong!I am just addicted to new stuff. LOL. That's why I have to work full time... I am constantly shopping! LOL. BUT will say I owe you some appreciation BozzyB and TOP, because you warned me I would get burnt out and I did. (and feel like a fool!)Back to my vanilla FO and 4630. Might move on to Banana nut bread tomorrow after work. Not Sure&Steps away and goes back to the counter when her 4630, scale and Vanilla.
