  1. So I went back to strictly working with CBAdvance 135 for now. Made a candle with FNB. First one was no scent throw, wick up'd a size and increased the FO from 7% to 9% and it's doing great........AND...... working with just one wax..... I am renewed! Thank you BizzyB and TOP.
  2. For the life of me I can not get FNB to throw in my CB135 Advance. Anyone else having trouble with this?
  3. Because you get burnt out. Like I just did for two days!
  4. Thanks for the support VIO. I apprecfiate it too. It all hasn't been bad. I do have three candles that seemed to do well. They are on their third test burn with co-workers. No complaints so I think they are ok. Got my new scale today., Yay!
  5. First off I want to address the fact that some of you think I am someone else that used to post on here. It's kind of getting annoying. No Offense. I understand why you would, but I don't know how else to prove to that I am not, except to invite you to stay the night at my house. Which ain't happenin'! As far as I know, this Sparkette lives somewhere on the west coast of Washington. Well I am on the other side of the state. 2 miles away from Idaho to be exact. I was actually only working with two different waxes. 4630 and Soy. But then got an itch to try rustics after I visited a WalGreens and saw them there. THAT is the only reason I tried it, it looked easy enough. Boy... was I wrong! I am just addicted to new stuff. LOL. That's why I have to work full time... I am constantly shopping! LOL. BUT will say I owe you some appreciation BozzyB and TOP, because you warned me I would get burnt out and I did. (and feel like a fool!)Back to my vanilla FO and 4630. Might move on to Banana nut bread tomorrow after work. Not Sure &Steps away and goes back to the counter when her 4630, scale and Vanilla. Looks back at the board with a pout face*
  6. That's what it was. I must be off this morning! Thank you. Another thing I picked up.... no color was added.
  7. I was looking into making lotions and shea butters later on after I get candles down. I was wondering if making them is just buying the bases and adding the colors and scents to them or is there more to it? I don't want to walk into it blind so I am asking the experts. You!
  8. I found this recipe on a candle supply site. It seems off to me unless I am doing something wrong. .48 Stearic acid 15.52 wax 3 drops liquid dye 1.12 FO (7%) I don't know why this isn't computing in my head. Is it right?
  9. OK - have searched through some of the archived threads about making rustics and think I got most of my answers from there. So I am just going to recap to make sure I got it. You know, like in school how you go over your class notes, anyway..... -So basically... I want to pour at MP temp (which I did with my first 137 for 1239) -I chilled my mold in the freezer until I poured but I read on numerous posts that you don't necessarily have to. Room temp is ok. -Keep the mold cold. -Keep all wax temps the same. About layers.... do You freeze/chill in between? Pour at a lower temp? Do I still add stearic acid? How much for a pound of 1239? Here's how I see myself doing it tonight. I am going to do two different colors. Fudge brownie smell. I will melt the pound in one pot, add the scent the separate it and add the two colors, one each to each diff pot. Wait til the wax cools then pour first layer, rock it back and forth a bit...wait for layer to start to set, pour second color and repeat. Maybe tilt this time. How long to I keep it tilted for? Thanks for all your advice. You all are always so helpful and patient. I feel da luv....
  10. The trouble I am having with the wax is not with CD Wicks, it's other wicks I experimented with, I should have said that differently. I was just experimenting with other wicks (Mainly HTP) and was having problem wicking that. Not strong enough scent throw or MP. I was trying to get others feedback on CD wicks so I could decide if I wanted to stay with them or keep experimenting with others. Sorry if I mislead you Scented. ---------------------------------------------------------- Yeah I have been having trouble with this wax too. With the other wicks I have been trying
  11. I am sure part of it is I work full time and my manager is a witch... I usualy get in a bad mood during my 5 day work week. That's the whole reason I wanted to get into candles. I got a kit as a gift at a C-Mas party and I was hooked from there. I'd really like to turn this into a business. I think I am doing ok. I have read a lot of people on here not liking 4630 but I have done well with it and CD wicks. I pretty much have small container candles down. Now that I understand the make up of the candle's structure, the rest falls in to place with minor tweeking here and there to accomidate FO's. For those of you that do have a successful Candle business... how long did it take you? I am impatient as hell.... but am realizing that good things come to those who wait! (sorry for rambling! Nothing to do til I go to work at 3! LMAO)
  12. Is it possible to get marbled candles without using liquid dye?
  13. Yeah I have been having trouble with this wax too. I was using CD wicks but I have read a lot of people on here don't like them. Why?
  14. I have been making candles all week (for testing purposes only) and was going to do some today. I have a couple I need to melt down and re wick because they didn't come out right and wanted to try rustics again but for some reason I am just not in the mood. What's wrong with me? LOL
  15. Thanks to everyone for all your help. So my next question may seem a little stupid to some... but... Do you wait for each different layer to harden before pouring the next?
