  1. YES! It is due, I've been expecting it and that is why I went to their site yesterday. I loaded up my cart - so glad that have that feature now! I'll be trying the new ones.
  2. I noticed the new fragrances too. I wonder why they haven't made an announcement about them?
  3. Rjdaines: yes I am aware of what chandlers mean when they say paraffin, and that is what my post says in the second sentence. I was specifically responding to the post and link directly above mine, and I should have said that. Sorry, my bad. I am a chemist, btw.
  4. I see the word "paraffin" over and over on that MSDS. But "paraffin" has two meanings. Chandlers use the word to refer to petroleum derivative waxes. In chemistry, the word has a more general meaning. It is a fully hydrogenated carbon chain (which is what soy wax is). Usually the word "alkane" is used now to refer to fully hydrogenated carbon chains, but sometimes I do see paraffin used in this way.
  5. vervain = verbena, and it is lovely
  6. Forgive me if someone already posted this. The clearance page at CandleScience has a bunch of stuff, including a few FOs: Honeycomb Raspberry Truffle Chocolate Chip Cookie Peanut Butter Cookies There are some molds, dyes and glassware too.
  7. Another vote for Candle Source. I've used it a lot in candles. I've made perfume (with the AH/RE base) with The Scent Works dupe and it is great. The Candle Source one is really good though, and I am not sure the one from the Scent works is worth the price difference.
  8. What's your name? Camay How old are you? Older than I once was, and younger than I'll be Where do you live? Northern New England How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? Since 1991 (although I did not make anything from 1999-2005) How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? My stepmother came home from a yard sale with a box of candle molds. She saw that I was interested and went down cellar to get another box full of candle stuff from when she tried doing it in the 70s. In one of the boxes was a mold with the name Pourette on it. I wrote to them for a catalog (the days before commercial internet) and they were my first supplier. Are you married? Yes, today is our 16th anniversary Any kids? 2 doggies and 3 kitties If candle making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I am a research scientist and lecturer in biochemistry at a university Anything else we should know? I am also obsessive about reading classic literature, cooking, tennis and football
  9. All of the peppermint bark that I have eaten or made has a layer of dark chocolate under the peppermint/white chocolate layer. This is what the picture on CandleScience's site shows, too. And peppermint patties are peppermint cream surrounded by dark chocolate. From the food perspective, not the FOs.
  10. If you have a website and wholesalers, it is not a hobby, it is a business and needs to be treated as such. How do YOU feel about your pictures on their site? Would you feel better if you had an agreement about the pictures? If so, make it happen. It's really all up to you.
  11. BCN has the worst website and shopping cart I have ever tried to use. They know it stinks yet do nothing to fix it. I never order from them unless I cannot find the item anywhere else. I base my purchasing decisions on what I see in the shopping cart. What is the point of having a website if you then have to call to verify the shipping charges? I hate calling places, and don't have the time for it.
  12. I'm super excited about the merry mistletoe and the cypress and berries. I'll be getting my order together this morning.
  13. I found this "universal" container on LS's site http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/products/candlecontainers_libbey-tumbler-universal-8.25oz.html top diameter is 2.75"
  14. LOL! I was going to ask the same question, but decided against it!
