mizbizzyb Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Does someone want to post one in the Tutorials.....Does someone want to tell me why I think this may be soooo hard?I think I may try it this weekend, if I can figure out which box has my kit in it...lmao Quote
Trish Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I'll try to help you, if you want. Send me a PM if you get stuck. Which wax are you using? Quote
mizbizzyb Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 I don't remember what I ordered - I will check when I get home. Thanks alot!! Woo hoo. Quote
Sara Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Here's some info: http://www.candletech.com/coldpours/ It doesn't have the layering/tilting info in there, though. A tutorial on them would be good... anyone up for it? Quote
Pam W Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Does someone want to post one in the Tutorials.....Does someone want to tell me why I think this may be soooo hard?I'm too shy to post in the tutorials and the reason you think it's hard is cause you haven't done it yet!!Pm'd you and Sara Quote
Scented Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 You can do this chica! Just don't think of it as hard. Seriously. Pour cold, slosh, wait a few seconds, pour rapidly to fill it up. Quote
Wick'n'Wax Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 scented, cold as in what temp?I stopped trying with rustic, love the look, just couldn't 'crack' it Quote
Scented Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 About 150 is what I pour at. Course you need 3 heaping T of steric per pound. Never give up ... once you get the hang of it you'll have a V-8 moment.Just pour a little, slosh, wait about 20-30 seconds and then pour fast. Quote
Wick'n'Wax Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 right, as soon as i get some more stearin, i promise i'll try it that way mind you i think a big prob with mine was the mould, was loads of rustic left inside, almost as if it had been peeled off the candle Quote
Georgia Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I buy generic cooking spray...spray the molds, wipe good, then pour. You don't loose so much frost that way. Quote
Scented Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 right' date=' as soon as i get some more stearin, i promise i'll try it that way mind you i think a big prob with mine was the mould, was loads of rustic left inside, almost as if it had been peeled off the candle[/quote']Couple of things come to mind there:1) up your pour temp a couple of degrees2) did you cool them in a fridge/freezer? If so, don't do that. Quote
PurpleHippie Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Here is some information that might help you.http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52125&highlight=layersI am still trying to make these. Quote
Sara Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Pam I didn't get your PM, JSYK They really aren't as hard as they seem, and the fun part is that you really get to "play" with the wax. I never took temps on mine, mostly waited until it got cool enough in the pot to form a skin, stir it in and then pour. The most difficult part (for me) was figuring out the right time/temp (w/o taking temps, still) to pour so that the layers stick. Quote
mizbizzyb Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 Well, did you make one, huh? huh? did ya? huh?Not yet....after I left work today I took my step-daughter and her sister shopping. Now, I am back at work. I will try to get to it this week. I did accomplish something B&B though ....at least one of my goals were made.I'll post my first ever picture when I do make them. Quote
silkysoycreations Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 How do you get layered rustics without sloshing around too much to cover up the next layer? Quote
