manda
Hi AllMe again, Just thinking about what shape of moulds to buy. Could all the lovely people on the board possibly give me their thoughts on what they think the most popular shape of candle is. Trying to make up a mock order for supplier but cant decide on shapes and sizes. Thanks Mandy
Janette
If you are talking pillars....I say start with 3" diameter round (variety of heights).Janette
Bernadette
I never pass by a candle shoppe without going in, and what I see on the shelves and see people buying are the round pillars. I personally like them alot myself.
candlesprite7
Definitely round...3", 4" and 6" tall and 3" diameter are the most popular.I have noticed Square is a close second!
Candle Man
I like the 3" rounds, they burn the best, when properly wicked.Any other size or shape will not give you a complete burn, so you have wasted wax. Other shapes, along with the 3" rounds, if the top is big enough, I only make as an everlasting.
dpowell
I like the 3" round pillars (with the concave top). We have a ton of molds 4, 6, and 9 inches tall.
Georgia
Odd one out here, I guess. I only make octagon and square...3", 4" and 6"
manda
Thanks guys:) I thought that the round candles were most popular. A variety of sizes, what do you think about the corrugated round moulds? I dont have one and have never seen a corrugated candle and just wondered if it was an easy candle to make and burn. Thanks again for your input........I would be lost just now with out you guys to talk to and ask questions. Your all stars everyone thanksMandy
candlesprite7
I have one of those molds, and i never use it, cleaning it is a PITA.
AnjieBurdett
I've just bought some corrugated moulds, I love the look myself. Any metal mould is easy-peasy to clean if you stick it in the oven on a low temp. upside down on kitchen paper.
Wicknwax
The corrugate molds are fab, they mask any flaws your candle may have
AnjieBurdett
The corrugate molds are fab, they mask any flaws your candle may have Absolutely! Mine have a seam 'cause they are tin and it doesn't show in the finished candle.
Wick'n'Wax
I like to see several round pillars in different heights, squares and fluted ones. Mind you tall pyramids are nice too
Scented
Rounds here too, but I don't see why the corrugated would be hard to clean at all. It might take a little more time and it might not. I like the corrugated look, but I don't use it. Even then, if clean up were a pain, make the molds out of sturdy cardboard.
Tahlula B.
3" round is the consistent seller for me. I actuallyl stopped making anything else. I have lots of square molds and love the look but they simply don't sell as well.
AnjieBurdett
Why do the more interesting shaped candles not sell as well? I would go for those over round eveytime. I love square and octagonal and pyramid and sphere's ohh and heart Anjie,x.
Janette
Why do the more interesting shaped candles not sell as well? I would go for those over round eveytime. I love square and octagonal and pyramid and sphere's ohh and heart Anjie,x.I think many customers see unique shapes as something they would never burn, "it's too pretty to burn". This makes it harder to justify the purchase for some.Janette
Crafty1_AJ
I have one of those molds, and i never use it, cleaning it is a PITA.Not to mention this is the ONLY mold I've ever had a pillar get utterly and completely stuck in. Had to break out the candle in chunks. (Talking corrugated here.)I agree with 3" round. They may seem commonplace and boring, but really there are so many interesting things you can do to make them seem different. Use different heights. Different colors, different textures (rustic, smooth & shiny, mottled, feathered, pockmarked with mineral oil), layered, tilted layers, marbled, whipped, chunks, different scents, etc. The odd shapes look cool, but are a pain in the butt to wick.
